Microsoft Xbox 360

I didn't know the three year warranty only applies if you get three red lights...

My nephew's Xbox 360 has just gone tits up with one red light and "E74" displayed on the screen. So he says "I'm going to put it on eBay for parts, it's past the year warranty" and I say to him "no, Microsoft have given a three year warranty to all Xbox 360s now".

He rings them and this guy says "okay, that'll be £60 please". My nephew explains that there is now a three year warranty, and this particular knobend just kept shouting "NO SIR SIXTY POUNDS, NO SIR SIXTY POUNDS". He hung up and rang me, so I told him to ring again and try with someone different. He got the same guy, so he hung up again and I said I'd go to his house and ring them myself today.

So I did, this time it was a different guy, and he was decent enough to explain it to me. "The three year warranty extension only applies for those consoles who have the three red lights, yes? Yours has just one red light yes? That results in a fee of £60 sir."

Getting pissed off, I said "well I'm saying there's one red light but I might be wrong, I was in a rush when I checked, should I go and look again", thinking that I could then lie and say "oh sorry, it's got three red lights after all, DURRR", but he said "okay sir but if you do this and we receive it, and find it has only the one red light, then we will have no choice but to charge you £60 or you will not get your console back".

So I hung up, wrapped the Xbox 360 and the power supply in towels, and told him to keep an eye on it. Hopefully it will have three red lights by Monday.

What a bunch of arseholes, it doesn't matter how many red lights there are, you still can't use the frigging console, why does that decide anything...
 
Because that's all the were court ordered to do I guess. If they had it their own way it would still be a 12 month warranty.

I've told him if he leaves his room with it still plugged in then he will set the house on fire - if he listens great, if not then I don't have to babysit ever again. :thumbup:
 
Yeah i can confirm the 3 year warranty is only for the RLOD

Nothing else is a real problem hence the 1 year only
 
You know, I keep going into the town centre, or going to the Trafford Centre with the intention of getting a 360 (I could get three at the moment with the dosh I've got currently) and everytime, I walk out empty handed.

No idea whats stopping me from buying one. Got £80 on a credit note from GAME so the wireless adapter wouldn't bother me either.

Eeeh, must just be the bundles, 'cause the games are crap with them.

Wait for another month or so, bundles usually get beetter in Oct aiming for the Chrimbo market.

Sounds like a plan.

I think one of the main things is the fact that my room is very shortly gonna be redecorated, so I'll have nowhere to put it if I get it.

Should be done by the time decent bundles come around.
 
Moan time : Right pain in the arse this, bought some MS Points today, as fancied getting Geometry Wars 2, anyhow, I boot up the XB, try to log into Live, says my account has been suspended as I havent updated my payment details, I'm like, so what, I aint playing online at the moment anyhow, Silver level is more than enough. Anyhow try rebooting to see if I can get onto Live, so again is says the same, so I click on account management, now I cant actually change anything in that area, cause guess what, I aint fucking connected to Live! Fooking genius MS, now just fuck off and give me silver level, half mind to sell the fucking points now and leave it. Have emailed the cretins, here's looking forward to fuck all help from them.

Same happened with my old account and gamertag mate.

After getting a new Xbox this week.

I had to set up a new one.
 
We know, you said so in the chatbox ;)

They will go tits up time and time again until the warranty runs out at which point we will all ditch them for PS3s, and we know it... There will never be a point where they stop breaking, they're not put together well enough.
 
Woot woot, I'm Silver Live Member again, happy days, so till FIFA09 comes out, I doubt I will become a Gold Member again. Back on Live and able to DL things again.
 
My 360 starting rrod'ling this summer. It is kind of old, so I decided to dump common sense and get me a "how to fix rrod" manual from the net. To my suprise it actually worked!
But not everything is like before. Xbox live works like it should, but the EA servers decided that they didnt like me any more, and they starting kicking me off after 1 min.
Tried 3 different EA games with the same result. I fixed it by deleting my game profiles, and creating new ones.
There must be a connection between the homemade fix and the ea servers reaction, and will this connection surface on other games?
Right now everything is working, but I got a sneaky feeling something will pop up, and how long will my homemade fix actually last!? Guess I have to make a decision around fifa09 time.
