There's been another update to the Backwards Compatibility List.

Nothing decent, though. I mean, Oddworld still doesn't run properly (i.e. no sound) and yet they add a SECOND Winning Eleven, WE8. What's the point when you've already done WE9? I'd have much rather seen another Oddworld or Rallisport 2 on there.
 
But the 360 has PGR3... I don't see the point in making something backwards-compatible if there is already a fully-working later version.
 
I agree. But many feel that PGR2 is far superior to PGR3 with regards to it's online implementation.
 
True but the way I see it, once you've made a later version of something, that is what you (Microsoft, in association with their backwards-compatiblity and Bizarre Creations departments) should be supporting. I'd rather have seen a quick PGR3 patch than PGR1/2 implementation. Chances are you will have sold them by now anyway to buy PGR3, and you're not going to buy them back again.

I would go and buy Rallisport 2 because I've never played the series, but if there was a Rallisport 3 on 360 I would have absolutely no interest in playing the previous one. It seems like a waste of time to me.

But everybody's different, I suppose.
 
With that logic jack they should only support rallisport 1, as rallisport2 is only a newer version. And it only works for games in certain genre's (racing and footie wont change much from year to year, whereas BC for sequal adventure games is good with the different stories / settings in each game).

They should support as much as possible, but pgr1/2 are from their own collection which probably makes it easier to make BC then 3rd party titles? Either way its better then nothing, not that i ever use BC anyway(didnt on the ps2 and cant on the 360(no hdd).

That's the point I was trying to make, albeit in a crap way. To me, if you've got PGR3, you don't need anything previous. Games move on, for better or for worse, and I think it's daft supporting titles that you already have a (latest) version of. At least, when it comes to sports/racing.
 
That reminds me, does anybody play GTA San Andreas on their 360?

I bought it off eBay the otehr day, but when I get a phone-call the guy just walks around with the phone pressed to his head, nobody talks. I'm thinking it's a dodgy CD (you should see the CD, it looks like it's been used as a dog frisbee, and these people say "virtually scratch-free"), but it could be an emulation bug (bearing in mind that the sound goes off when you get to the second part of Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee).
 
Jacks right and thats the reason they didn't add Chronicles of Riddick to the list even tho everyone was screaming for it.

The game is coming out on the Xbox 360 with updated graphics and a new chapter.

Stepping into Microsoft's "Social Fun" suite at the truck defying Viceroy Hotel, we got a chance to lay our hands on the recently announced 360 version of Scene It along with its kooky candy colored controllers. As you can see, the controllers are fairly small. They are very light, run on two AA batteries, and come in four oh so fashionable colors. All of the standard face buttons are topped with a huge button that also serves as a D-pad. The button, as you might expect, serves as the game's buzzer. The A, B, X, and Y buttons are used for selecting answers. We settled in to play a quick game and test our movie trivia knowledge.
 
HORI VF5 joystick for 360

At Sega's Virtua Fighter 5 360 demo station at E3, there were two shiny HORI joysticks, which are being released alongside the 360 release of VF5. While we were (barely) bested by Sega's employee in our matches, we definitely enjoyed the hardware on which we played. The buttons and joystick have a nice, durable feel to them. The joystick has a definite tactile click to it, and it's not to loud either, which is nice. The buttons click solidly and the joystick inputs seemed spot on. We managed some nice body checks with Akira with no problem at all, and diagonal inputs were easily recognized too. The Sega rep informed us that the stick should retail for around $50 or so, which seems fairly standard. Considering the DOA4 stick is now nearly impossible to find (and damned expensive if you do), you'll definitely want to pick up the HORI stick if you're serious about your virtual fighting.
 
Bomberman Live arrives on Wednesday with Yie Ar Kung Fu

Like the finest Steven Segal movies, the Xbox Live Arcade next week will be chock-full of explosions and martial arts when Bomberman Live and Yie Ar Kung Fu arrive on Wednesday.

If you've played Bomberman before, you know exactly what you'll be getting for your 800 points ($10). If you've never played it, then you absolutely need to buy it. Perhaps less well known is his traveling companion, Yie Ar Kung Fu. In this arcade remake, you play a guy named Oolong who fights people in an attempt to become the greatest martial artist in the world. If you've tired of the last-gen graphics of your own personal copy of Yie Ar Kung Fu, you're about the be 400 points ($5) poorer.
 
I getting the arcade stuck for sure. playing SFII with the 360 pad is painful!

Microsoft should of released a stick months ago!
 
To all those that have sent their 360's for repair.

Is it worth contacting them to find out how long it'll take them to repair it before I get it back?
 
No. You'll get "we told you it'll be up to 15 days", or if you're unlucky, "25 days". Until you wait for that period to expire they won't help you.
 
Yeah unfortunately it was, I was hoping for more demos but hey ho nothing like keeping us waiting...Sony kept us waiting for ages for the PS3 :)
 
I know he didnt have a good time with Rock Band at E3, but thats taking it abit far to get extra practice in........ ;)
 
Microsoft Scraps X07
Following the surprise departure of Peter Moore from Microsoft, the shocks continue to come thick and fast as Aaron Greenberg, group product manager for Xbox 360 and Xbox Live, reveals the company is scrapping its European showcase X07.

Speaking on Squad XP's podcast, Greenberg says: "There is not a real X07 this year but I think that we will figure out some way to talk about 2008 some time at a different event or a different type of programme."

The X0 events have been running since 2001 when Microsoft officially introduced the Xbox to European journalists and retailers. Since then, the large-scale event has been used to make key announcements (like last year's Halo/Peter Jackson deal), unveil upcoming AAA titles (Halo Wars) and also show off new hardware.

Microsoft were unavailable to comment on the future of the event at the time of writing.

UK Retailers Hint at Elite Cost

GAME, Play and HMV slap Microsoft's upgraded Xbox 360 with a potential price tag of 329.99 GBP.

Despite the fact Microsoft has yet to reveal the price of the Xbox 360 Elite in Europe, big-name UK retailers reckon the console will cost 329.99 GBP when it launches over here on August 24.

Play, GAME and HMV have started taking pre-orders for the top-end console bundle featuring a 120GB hard disk and HDMI output, with all three listing the Elite at the same price point. Currently in the UK, the Xbox 360 Premium pack retails for 279.99 GBP while the Core costs 199.99 GBP.

We contacted Microsoft for clarification, with a company spokesperson unable to confirm or deny the information, pending an official announcement - which can't be too far off now.
