Manchester United Thread

Dermot you have to remove those images because it breaks the rules of copyright, all it takes is someone to sniff through this thread and report it and this forum could go just like that and leave you with a hefty fine

God lighten up! Dermot can post football pictures if he wants! This is the most UPTIGHT forum I am a member of. Going back to OCP now methinks . . .

I said this before and I'll say it again. I dont care if the Glazers know anything about football or not. At the end of the day, you had to remember that they're business men and in this to make money so whats good for the club is their own benefit.
The only thing I was concerned about was what our transfer budget would be and I dont think anything has changed in terms of our buying power.

Glad Rooney seemed to be finding his old touch again! Bit worried as to why Heinze wasnt even on the bench never mind the starting line-up as he should have. Any reason why Saha was also omitted completely? Isnt injured again is he?

I cant exactly tell who's goal was better.Cantona's chip was after a great dribble, with players pressuring him and he was inside the box while executing it too.Rooney had plenty of time with no players pressuring him but his chip was much more controlled and was from outside of the box.He also feinted like he was about to unleash a rocket.Truly masterful class for both goals no doubt. Here we go marching on into the last 16!

I think you answered your own question there. Cantona's had a great dribble, more pressure and was done inside the box, Rooney's one didnt.

Both were similar and had quality written all over them. But due to the circumstances and pure confidence on show, Cantona's was better IMO.

it was great stuff to watch, reminiscent of his second against Middlesbrough two years ago (think it was 2) I wish Larsson's had been given though, that just came out of nowhere and was a rocket.

dunno about Heinze, but Saha was left out most probably cause hes shite

I was more worried about there being no Ronaldo, but I guess he needed a rest, rumours were flying round that he was in Dubai, but he'd just been on holiday, and was in the stands

Well it was an FA Cup tie so who knows. Saha, Ronaldo and Heinze will probably be back for the Premiership games.

I'm a bit worried about Heinze though. Evra has done a brilliant job and seems to be getting the nod over Gabby nearly every week. Evra's speed and attacking play has been brilliant, and his energy level even during the latter stages of the game is always good too.
But IMO, the absence of Heinze might be the reason why we're leaking too many goals in recently. Heinze really should have been the one playing the Arsenal game, not Evra.
Evra should be left for the last half hour of the game when we need that extra burst of pace to attack. That way we could even slot Heinze into CB if anything happens to either Vidic or Rio during the match.

United were superb yesterday. I love the way we attack in droves and can go through the middle and change play at any split second by spreading the ball wide. Carrick gets better every game, Park is the most hardworking player on the field everytime he plays and Rooney's second goal - SENSATIONAL. Raw English talent in the World's oldest cup competition. Portsmouth did fuck all in the game and their goal was LUCKY although they did defend well until the latter stages of the game.

Very happy. :)

What do you lot think of Gill's comment clearly stating that we wont be extending Larsson's loan contract.Surely there would be another striker on the cards come summer. All that jazz but its only Larsson so far for January.

United weren't superb, when we don't have Ronaldo, we have no pace in our attack, and we just pass it around in front of the defence, and at times, I thought we werent gonna score. Portsmouth defended brilliantly and sometimes looked dangerous on the break. Either way, we had the boy wonder and he was the difference

That ref had balls to disallow Vidic's goal though, he's probably been murdered now, Nemanja wouldn't have been happy

Can anyone make nets for PES6 Old Trafford ground next season????

More talk about Ronaldo - he's clearly going to be the new Ruud in terms of the press saying that he'll be signed by Real at every single chance. I'm sure he'll leave at some point, but would hope that he'll stick around at least a couple more years. And anyway, are Real actually better than United at the moment? Other than nice weather, I'd say the football at United is probably more exciting to be a part of.

What worries me about Ronaldo is that it seems like he's staying here at United because he thinks its the right thing to do, rather than actually wanting to be here.
