Manchester United Thread

United are looking good i must admit, but i do think you were given a helping hand today by Clattenburg - bit of a shitehouse performance from him. It was tight until he gave the dodgy pen and he waved away two arguebly worse pens involving Neville and Ferdinand.

he mightve given a pen to Tottenham, but he could equally have given the first penalty, which was more clear cut than the one given, so what goes around comes around I suppose

Even if we don't win the league this year, there should be no question of what team has played the best football in England so far over the course of the season. .

yeahhh you'll receive the awards for the best football team in England...Great....
And you're right about chelsea. We seem unable to keep attacking when we are leading and it's there the big difference beetween Man u/Arsenal and chelsea sadly:(

I honestly believe now that we can go on and win the title.Everything is in place at the moment and all we need to do is produce that kind of performance week in,week out till the end. This is vintage 99 stuff lads!!

When we've won it, I will celebrate.
Chelsea are still capable of going on a 10 win run.
It is looking good though, I'll admit. Charlton next at home. Should be a win, but more importantly if we do, it's another game less to play. Boro might not be too easy for Chelsea that weeked either. The longer we can keep this advantage, the more pressure on them to win games and just maybe they will make mistakes.

Good performance from our lads last night, I was pleased some good flowing attacking football played.Yes Clattenberg was dodgy but he gave Spurs lots of decisions that werent freekicks! They didnt make the most of them :)

I also like the way he Booked Henrik Larsson for doing nothing wrong in a challenge with Michael Dawson and also he booked Vidic for a foul and yet Zakora did one minutes before that which was worse and no booking for Zakora? Did anyone watch the Merseyside Derby? I had to as the missus is a Liverpool fan and the ref pissed me off during that game as he gave most things Liverpools way. One of Evertons Players fouled Pennant and got booked. Pennant did a tackle just as bad as that on that same player and got Nothing! Refs are a complete joke if you ask me!

About Ronaldo's dive, can I say that Malbranque's intend was there? He risked it,he dosent need to be there yet he put his foot in.There is a diver in every team but just because its Ronaldo, just because its Man United, its a big story.Woohoo! For the record, players rarely spoils the game but referees always does! Didnt anyone notice a red shirt under Mark Clattenberg's kit?

Clattenberg was shite in the first half, 2 stone wall penalties not given and the one that was given shouldnt have been in my opinion. The Larsson booking was stupid too but things like, a Tottenham player I cant remember who it was fouled someone, then moments later Vidic commited more or less the same sort of foul and he whipped a yellow straight out. The second half Scholes fouled someone and he got away with it even though he gave a few free kicks away in the 1st half!. Did Scholes get booked by the way yesterday at all ?

Talk about indesisive and inconsistent officiating

If Ronaldo is a diver i think he does his job great in the penalty area. Plus his performance was outstanding , he can now manage the stepovers in right times

Ronaldo does go down easily, but it's highlighted more because he is a villain.
Look at it this way.
He is also the most fouled player in the premiership. He is constantly trying to dribble past people and the sheer speed and him changing direction mean that the slightest knock or touch will see him on the floor.
I was the first to 'hammer' him on here after the world cup game, but he's been fantastic this year and I take everything back.

Our Yank friend CS Saunders believes that Manchester United are an AMERICAN CLUB now because the Glazers own it - I would like to hear the thoughts of other United supporters in here on this bold statement?

He was joking, calm down. He's just poking fun at the fact that teams are being bought by american investors. Doing it to get your panties in a bunch, and it appears to have worked :D

Clearly pulling my leg Daikirai....Anyways,I hope Fernando Torres soaks up the athmosphere at OT tonight.Let us welcome him with open arms.I hope that kid who wrote "Please Buy Rooney" on that cardboard would be in the stands tonight.A "Please Buy Torres" sign would be helpful indeed.

So Ronnie has apparently said he doesn't know where he'll be in 6 months, not exactly a great testament to loving life in Manchester. If he leaves who do you think the press will target next on the squad?

More importantly, is there anyone who can possibly replace him? For my money no, and we're in trouble if we lose him and Giggs over the next two seasons. Park is never going to be a great winger, nor fletcher. Praps Lee Martin, but I've not seen enough. Bottom line is, I don't believe in forcing a player to stay at a club against their will, and I just dont' think there's anyone in the world I'd rather have at the moment. Bit of a tough one!

Well,if he wants to leave then let him.Personally,I think that Phil Scolari is right,Ronaldo has learned alot with us and its only right that he move on to another club to further his education. We practically 'stole' him from under Sporting's nose anyway,a little unknown who turned into a football star.I'm not being bitter but you cant change a person but I feel that Ronaldo has a bigger attitude than the club itself.I will not bear any grudges if he leaves.Another player will come along and if he fits the bill,we will get him.

I'd be sad to see him go, but I don't think it's going to happen any time in the near future, well, at least for a few years anyway. Nobody can blame players for wanting to try themselves at others clubs & leagues. After all, who wants to stay in one job for their entire career?
I know it's speculation (so no flaming please) at the moment but if we were to sign players like Hargreaves & Torres etc (if the stories about the Glazers reserving money for "superstar" signings are true) then we'd have a real chance of being dominant in Europe... and who'd want to pass up that?

If the time comes & he does go I hope we get a good price for him - not an installment job or selling him for less than he's worth like Becks & Ruud, so that we'd be able to get a good replacement.
