Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

I'm with you on that, what if this kid really is good enough to warrant the fuss! He'll just be another one we missed out on... :(

What's happening post african cup anyway? Is he coming to us?

He was man BLOODY HELL!

SAF needs to sort this out he has amazing potential!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

Well he doesnt want to join united otherwise he would be playing for us by now. We cant get player who doesnt have passion for the club, no matter how good he is. I think what we have to do now, is put a high price tag on him since he is legally our player, and see if chelsea are prepared to buy off us. If not john obi will have to to waste away in the reserves.

Its a shame because i think united would have been good for him. He would be playing along with other young players and getting alot of first team action. Chelsea are fuckfaces and this is the crap why i dislike them. Buying players to keep them away from other big clubs. No matter how many chelsea fans want to deny it, its true and even the media kknow have said it.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

Why do we recall the unknown Ritchie Jones of all our loaned players? David Jones or even Liam Miller would be a better option!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

Especially David Jones who IMO, will be one of the few who will make a mark from the reserves.

Maybe if Mikel is that good, we should just hold on to him and not let go. If he doesnt want to play for us then fine, we could just force the kid to sit around and watch the rest of the lads. He's only a kid so he's still in a position to understand. Its much easier to teach something to a 18 year old compared to a 28 year old. He'll eventually understand he made the right choice all along.

I would like to think so,cos that prick has been making waves lately.Comin off the bench, scoring one and making another for the Senior Eagles.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

Personally, unless the media have got it al wrong and the kid really does have united in his heart, i don't htink SAF will take. Fergie's nothing if not proud and stubborn, and if you don't show commitment, i can't imagine he'll let you play.

If only this kid could sort his priorities out, could have a starting place in a top 3 prem team at 18! What else does he want?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

I wanna see Vidic start at the back tonite against wolves. This game would be a great platform for him to launch his united career.4-3-3 for tonite,no doubt.Smithy has to prove his worth playing alongside Fletcher and Richy,he must hold the midfield together. My formation for tonite.

-----------------------VDS-----------------------
-------------------------------------------------
-G.Nev----------Brown--------Vidic----------Evra-
-------------------------------------------------
----------------------Smith----------------------
-----------Fletcher------------Richy-------------
-------------------------------------------------
----------------------Rooney---------------------
--------------Ruud---------------Saha------------

Subs:Howard,Ronaldo,Bardsley,R.Jones,Rossi,Pique.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

i would say, 442 with ronaldo, fletcher, smith, richardson in midfield and rooney and saha in front

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

I'd be happy with both yours or Phrase's formation.
Either way, it should get the job done

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

Ferdinand in MF and playing bloody well too!

Saha scoring man we have a good strike force!

All we need now are midfielders

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

This is exactly how I predicted but most of you disagreed. Play Rooney as the attacking midfielder and Rio as the defensive midfielder. And so far its working according to plan.
Our attacking play is getting better every game. Richardson is starting to look like a real contender for a place in the England squad. And Rio is amazing me every time he attacks. His pass to Gary was inch perfect near the end of the half. If only Gary could work on his shooting...

Richardson should go as cover for one of the Coles

Rooney should be Scholes long ter successor!

I clearly remember saying that Rio would make a great DM because unlike our other so called DMs like Smith or O'Shea, Rio would have the discipline to stand his ground and not move forward like how Smith's natural instincts make him do it. Its very natural to see a CB do well in DM cuz they kinda require similar abilities except its harder for a DM (which I'm not gonna go into and bore people). Ledley King also showed this when he was England's DM for a friendly game. And also because of the fact that Rio is attacking a lot more this season so he would make the best DM out of our squad.
Most people's reply was that he's a natural CB and he wouldnt work there or that the defence would get shakey without him back there. But I guess I was right. ;)

I didnt think Rooney in AM was working too much. I only see him as a temporary replacement with us hopefully buying a good player for that position soon. Rooney was nowhere as affective as we know he could be.

I was impressed with Saha's performance. He seem to get in the harder goals compared to the easy chances. But his pace was too much for defenders and I think he's slowly getting back to his best.

Park just came back from an injury and he looked like he hasnt changed, maybe improved a little too . He's very straight forward and did his job in a very simple but effective way.

One problem I had was that when we attacked down the wing, we kinda got too close to the goal before crossing which really messed things up for us. It easily should have been atleast 6-0.
But overall, it was a great performance and it really does get you more and more excited about how the team is gonna improve and progress during the later half of the season.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

yeah we totally dominated the match, good performance all around. Neville and late on Rooney should both have scored. then again, its against wolves, no offense, but shouldn't really be a problem for us.

Fletcher is getting a bit better IMO. As long as he's not forced to run much he's actaully pretty useful. He'll never be good out on side though. Smith doesn't really do much for me, okay he'll slide in and make life hard, but he doesn't create much nor does he ever play decent passes, always just simple sideways or back ones. We NEED a new midfielder, that's really the bottom line. We probably need two. I'd settle for almost anyone decent at this point, because O'shea/Smith/Fletcher just aren't world class, and ferdinand/brown/neville, ronalod/park/rooney/rvn are. As united playesr should be!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

Park is getting better all the time. All action player they call him and rightly so. Him and heinze are my favourite players since they are always getting involved. Park just needs to improve a little with touch and distribution, but im sure that will come with time. Vidic looked pretty strong and was making no compromises for anyone.

Our squad is seriously looking great, only two new midfielders we need and we be complete, since we have an abundance of youth coming through. I just hope smith goes back into his natural forward role because he does nothing for me in midfield, he is much better forward. Hopefully with any luck obi mikel changes his mind and joins the club along with the two new additions in the summer and we will have one of the best squads.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

I agree with most of what you said except for Smith. Cuz unlike Fletcher, O'Shea, etc, Smith isnt playing in the right position.
I see Smith playing in the type of role that Solskjaer was before he was injured. He can sort of play as our Striker/Right sided midfielder like Ole used to. I dont want to explain why cuz I already have many times here but its pretty obvious that he's everything that Fletcher thinks he is.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

Yeah i agree he could probably do job on the right. He played there numberous occasions for leeds united and done well scoring goals from there. I just dont think he is central midfielder potential, its no good for him because his qualities are getting forward and attacking the ball. The right of midfield option could suit him well for us but the position is already occupied by park and ronnie.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

But Smith can still play in the center of midfield as long as he's not the DM. For example, he played really well when he played alongside Keane. And if we're going 4-3-3, he could fit into the Essien role where he plays on the inside right of the 3 man midfield. Cuz he's one of those players where his defensive qualities are almost as good as his attacking qualities. The reason why he would work on the right wing is for the same reasons why someone like Giggs is usually picked ahead of guys like Ronaldo because they can defend when needed to.

I remember when we first signed him last season, during that 2-0 win over Arsenal at OT, Smith was brought on right at the end and played on the right wing. The reason for this was that he could defend a lot better than people give him credit for. And on top of that, he could get you assists like the one Rooney got for his goal in that game. And can any of you remember that brilliant cross he recently did for one of Ruud's goals recently? It clearly showed he is a very important option for the right hand side.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

Yeah i see your point. It could work. But he would need a proper defensive midfielder who sits back and lets him do his work. For example Rio beside smith would work. Smiths tackling is very good and is useful in midfeild but his man and area marking is pretty poor so il say he cant be defensive midfielder but maybe central.

Have fletcher more of a utility player untill he gets stronger and improves his game abit more. Thing about fletcher is, he doesnt take his time when hes on the ball, sometimes he has more space than he realises. He passes it instead of making a run forward and creating direct effort when and ends up being abit boring player instead of being a threat if you see what i mean.

But yeah i do remember that sweet cross to rvn. I think it was againts West Brom Albion.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

fletcher sucks man, when he recieves the ball, he is so scared of losing possesion tat he passes it away immediately, i hate his style of playing totally useless and boring

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread-

He is not a bad player, he is effective and works hard in his own way but he needs to do better if he wants to be a proper united player. He has got a good passing range on him. I think he got to be stronger and confident when on the ball and make more forward runs. I agree with SAF when he says he should bulk up and hit the weights.
