Sven Goran Eriksson believes Michael Owen could help England win the World Cup by moving to Manchester United. Real Madrid’s £12million-rated striker is wanted by Alex Ferguson. And Eriksson reckons Owen playing alongside Wayne Rooney at club level would boost the Three Lions’ chances in Germany next summer. Eriksson said: “A move would be up to Michael but, as England coach, I wouldn’t complain if he joined United. I cannot deny this. For him to work in training every day with Rooney could only make England better. It would be great. And it would benefit my job.”

Still would have been nice to see him play for USA though.

well thats becasue we come from everywhere bro, not many american indians around, i half irish and qtr italian, i celebrate both cultures, you need to come to this country then you will understand, american is truly a melting pot, every country and culture is represented here.... i mean cmon there is no player in the world who woudl rather play for usa then italy, given the choice, i mean rossi is that good, so i agree with his decision, cause i would do the same thing if i had the choice, i think most players wouldpup-fiction said:I hope i don't sound offensive in this post as i don't mean to be, but Americans seem (to me anyway) to have a tendency to want to be other nationalities, for example the many Irish-Americans who are more American than Irish but say they are Irish. Could be to do with America being a new country and people wanting deeper roots.
Maybe it's just that Rossi is settled in Europe (well, England now) and wants to play as much of his football in Europe as he can, or perhaps he just feels better suited to Italian play.
Bayern Munich star midfielder Michael Ballack has cleared up rumours linking him with a move to Manchester United by insisting that he doesn’t want to leave the Bundesliga giants. The 29-year-old German international also insists that he hasn’t held talks with any other clubs and that he would be happy to extend his contract at Super Bayern Ballack told Sky Sports: "I spoke with Bayern Munich and it was a good discussion. That is where things stand. "I haven't spoken with anyone else, nor do I want to. "No-one has spoken about a deadline. "
