Only Mata's goal was a fraction offside. Fellaini was on if you're talking about that one - I'm sure you can find a graphic somewhere, arms don't count! ;)

Why don't you admit you got totally demolished for once instead? :P

Fellaini isn't offside - the law is that it's part of the body that can play the ball. His head is level, his arm is off, so the linesman is spot on. Mata was off, but everyone missed that in real time, even the City 'defenders'.

One more thought of the day: Mangala = 5th most expensive player in British transfer history. Wow.
 
Yes Mata was offside, but except for the first 10 minutes (with a fantastic goal), United totally outclassed City.

There is recent history between Kompany and Clattenburg. Clattenburg gave Kompany two yellows against Israël in the last international game. The first one should not have been a yellow, but the second definitely was and is among the most stupid yellow cards i've seen in a long time...

My wife told me (i missed that), that before the match began, there was already something weird going in the tunnel between Kompany and Clattenburg. She told me that Kompany clearly wanted to speak to Clattenburg and Clattenburg very ostensibly turned away to talk to person. The Clattenburg decided to adress Kompany, he turned around, but then it was Kompany's turn to turn away from Clattenburg. If this is true, this is very immature from both of them...

There is something wrong with Kompany, lately he acts like a spoiled brat, that is very weird for him...maybe it's allthe injuries and the fact that he is underachieving lately.
 
Think the summer will fix Kompany to be honest. He's too class not to make it back to the top level again. All players* have spells when they're off their best.

* Except Messi and Ronaldo who are freaks we'll never see the likes of again.

problem with everything this season is consistency because in another game that could've been called as offside, rules do say arms dont count but
very minor but in the replay his head shoulder too and maybe a bit of his knee is a bit offside hard to tell but pretty certain his afro is offside

but utd deserved to win the game anyway even if they didnt get them but i think they would've pushed more and got the goals

Have to say Mata he's a great player he was chelsea's player of the season twice in a row for a reason because he's a great player but needs to be in the right position and be used the right way which now he is
and he's playing some great football, his confidence is back too he's got some good vital goals

Carrick was great too what man city done right in the first 15mins was they gave him no time on the ball charging him down but after the 1-1 man city plans went out the window and down in a public loo, it was weird to see
carrick getting too much time and played well

difference with fellaini is that when he jumps now its without his arms out wide because before he was giving away too many free kicks but now he's winning the balls properly without giving anything away and fair play to him because he's seems to have looked at what he was doing wrong and tried to fix it

kinda weird that van gal has gone back to the players that were there before
new players havent really done that well ofcourse may take time but it'll be tough for falcao di maria getting into the squad at the form utd are at

im not even a utd fan far from it but i do enjoy watching any football match
and when its good entertaining football its good entertaining football

it was a good entertaining game especially after that ---- of a game
qpr and chelsea it was depressing not as much as the burnley vs spurs before but close to it

it'll be an interesting few final weeks of this season
it'll be interesting to see where everyone will finish
think top 3 has pretty much been decided but city could loose 4th if they dont improve their game

Fellaini was leaning offside (half his chest and his head)

Mata's tho was a good 2 yards off and that was the most important goal of the game

We were 2nd best after the first 30 mins but a 2 goal deficit isn't a demolition. Can't remember the last time we lost by more than 2 goals actually.


In terms of Utd, that whole team and system is built on Felllaini occupying that left channel, I wonder how it will fare if/when teams figure out how to combat it.

except he elbowed Demichelis. Looked accidental but Twattenburg was right there and didn't give the free kick. Jones also somehow escaped a booking for taking out Milner when City were getting yellows for far less. It's demoralising seeing him being bigged up as the new main ref because he has a history of fucking us over

Only issue with that image is that you cant see clichy's foot
because it would make it very close, a better angle is needed to be sure

but i would still think feallini's afro would just put him offside :P

Then there's something wrong with your eyes if you believe that's an offside! This is an angled view and if it's viewed right through the line you would see that Fellaini's head is right onside.

Mata's goal was just a yard off and he was sprinting as well, looked onside in real time for everybody on the pitch - refs and players.

The system isn't built around Fellaini. He just provides an extra option. Against Villa, he was completely anonymous and we still outplayed them. I completely disagree with the fact that we're relying on 1 person - quite the opposite actually - we are playing AS A TEAM for the first time in ages, everyone's on the same page and knows what they're doing (except our CBs in some cases...).

If you think that we didn't demolish you, outclass you, outplay you in every way possible, except for the first 10 mins, then the problem is you and I have nothing else to say.

I'm not that arsed about the 2nd goal, it's the 3rd, the one that sealed the game, which was the important one and the most blatant.

60% of your play went through Fellaini in the big games. Villa aren't a good side, you should be beating them at home regardless. It was when you went more direct in your passing to Fellaini that you got the joy you did. Both goals in the 1st half don't happen without him.

You were the better team but you hardly demolished us. I know you want to get back at us for legitimately demolishing you a few times recently but wait until you actually demolish us

Hart stopped it from being a demolition with one of the best GKing performances in recent memory. That wasn't the case on Sunday

The fact is, considering the football played on Sunday, we totally dominated and outclassed you.
Just like you did a few times in the past few years, with the only difference being that I can admit it.
 
What I meant is that Hart stopped the scoreline from reflecting the difference between the teams on the night.
The difference between the teams on Sunday was reflected in the scoreline - 2 goals.
Until the 3rd went in I still felt we could win. At no point at the Nou Camp was that the case.

I could admit it. I've seen Utd demolish us in the past.

This. You had 41% possession and 3 shots - two of which were in the first 12 minutes and then the consolation goal when we were down to 10. So for 80 minutes you failed to take a shot on target.

It was dominant. Just like you've dominated us in the majority of matches in the past few seasons.
 
I'm a neutral and to me City were outplayed for 80 minutes.
There is no work ethic in the team.
Why were City the better team in the first 10 minutes? Because they presserend Carrick. After the goal, they couldn't be Arsenal to do that and let United come back in the match. Imo United Here pretty impressie and indeed played as a team.

Strange to see missies young and Fellaini play a decisive role for a couple of weeks now, but all credit to them. I always liked young at Villa.
 
I'm not sold on us being 'safe' in the top 4. Liverpool have the easiest run-in, United the hardest. I don't see Everton nor Crystal Palace away as 'easy' for example. And 2 others are Chelsea and Arsenal.

Magic number with our GD is 9. So we need 3 wins, or other combos. That's all I'm looking at.
 
We must win against Chelsea or Arsenal. Cannot take 2 defeats there or we're back fighting for 4th or 5th. The top few team's point difference is still very tight and with easier schedules for the other teams, we really can't afford any slip ups.
 
You must win against Chelsea and lose against Arsenal :P

It will be tight I think if man utd keeps up their form they probably will be in the top 4 where who knows but even 4th for utd to be in the champions league will probably make the fans happy

There is no easy run ins when teams are fighting to survive
like qpr were on top over chelsea but then green f---- it up
burnley had a very tight defence vs arsenal
very tight games no matter where teams are

Although saying that sometimes tough run ins can be good becausing winning against teams like man city certainly helps getting into top 4
that step closer
 
I'd be happy with a point, I think if we play it right we can get that as I don't think Chelsea will be that ambitious
 
Mourinho will play for a point. This one has written 0-0 all over it.

Well that was before learning that 4 of our players that were in the team last week are now out. Grumble.

No Carrick, Blind, Jones or Rojo. So either formation change or Blackett/McNair. Crap.
