Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Only 45 mins but Bebe hasnt really impressed me much. Obertan on the other hand is looking good.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I thought it was a good night all round.

Carrick ran the game from midfield, much improved from recent performances so hopefully he can kick on from here. Same with Ji and Gibson, good shift from both.

Smalling looked class. Really assured performance, won countless headers and tackles and made many interceptions. Neither goal was anything to do with him and both happened when Brown moved into the middle with him.

Bebe and Obertan were good, very positive play from both. The only thing lacking was their final balls but this will come with time. They were terrifying the Wolves defence at times, and the goal will do Bebe good.

Only negative was Macheda really, he really struggles upfront on his own, but he's learning so not too worried. He looked better again when Hernandez joined him too.

Chicharito, I fucking love him. Legend in the making, seriously. Solskjaer mkII.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

It wasn`t a convincing win ,but enough to edge it! Good to see the ref give the goal, ball cross the line by a centimeter.:SMUG:

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

That cameo :... The way he lifted the crowd when he was about to come on helped and when he did get on he was brilliant. 4th goal in 3 games - the boy's on a hot streak.

Bebe and Obertan seemed to shift from very good to failing to control the ball and they weren't helped with the service in the first half. Smalling was brilliant and really didn't give their strikers much to go off.

not the best performance but good signs and were through to the next round.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Few thoughts on the Wolves match:

1. Bebe doesn’t completely suck, and can play football. He was incredibly raw, showed a few poor touches but overall was pretty productive. Clearly working on ‘simple’ wing play – run fast kick ball into box. Bit Valencia esque. He’s also massive, makes me wonder if he’ll develop into more of an out and out striker one day.

2. I’m not sure about this Macheda thing. I can only assume he’s really, really good in training, because the last 10 odd times I’ve seen him play he’s been rubbish. We don’t often give players that many chances, and he did have THAT moment at Villa, but still. Back to the reserves maybe?

3. Obertan is clearly an extremely talented footballer, who lacks the concentration and footballing intelligence to deliver the telling pass. I think he’s worth investing more time into, because his touch, agility and raw talent are rare.

4. Darren Gibson is done. Au revoir Gibbo. That mistake for the second goal was his final straw. You could see it all over Fergie’s face.

5. I swear when the twins signed, Fabio was the good one and Rafael the not as good one. Injuries are a nasty thing.

6. Carrick gets a lot of sh*t, but he held together a midfield of himself, Darren Gibson and Ji-Sung Park. For that he deserves the Balloon d’Or.

7. What do we do with Ji Sung Park? So out of form it’s painful to watch. A detriment to the team at the moment.

8. We’re two injuries away from starting Ben Amos (and presumably having John O’Shea as backup)

9. I admit it, I have a man crush on Chicarito. It makes me uncomfortable.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Agree with pretty much everything you said there. But its a bit unfair on Ji Sung Park to say he's out of form when he hasnt been getting games. That one on one should have been finished but he got a nice goal to make up for it. He just needs to play more, and whenever he does he's always reliable.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

To be honest, he's played a fair bit this season, I just checked and its 9 appearances so far. He's been crap though, clearly suffering World Cup hangover. He's done best in the 2 Carling Cup matches but in the league and Europe he's been awful. He even admitted it himself. I don't think he should be sold though, he can be very useful.

9. I admit it, I have a man crush on Chicarito. It makes me uncomfortable.

If he had long hair he could pass for a woman.

At the minute there's an argument of him being confused as a lesbian with short hair.

Perfectly natural to have these feelings when he's this wonderful :P

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I thought Bebe and Obertan showed some decent glimpses of promise the other night. Obviously its going to take time, but theres something there at least. As for Macheda his past 2 games have been a little bit disapointing, I think he needs a goal to get the confidence going. Im also losing patience with Gibson wouldnt suprise me if he departs in January be it a loan or transfer

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

If Chicharito keeps playing like this, i think you just found the "new Pippo".

I think he's more like Mickey Owen than Inzaghi. He has some pretty handy skills and good technique...not something super Pipo was ever accused of!

(but if he can score half the goals...mmmmmm yes please)

Just saw a story that Rooney paid £25 for chicken nuggets and chips. Why is the slightly pudgy one allowed to eat such crap? Should have sold him...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

owen was never skillful

he was fast, good positioning and finisher

I think he's refering to his ability to score goals like that one in 98 against Argentina. That looks like something Chicha will eventually be capable of doing. Pippo was different, a bit more like Ruud.

I think Owen had unbelievable balance which made him able to stay on his feet which along with his pace was phenomenal. Chicharito I think has more tools to be a much better player outside the box than Owen or Inzaghi. a quicker 'mini' David Villa Potentially :D

Perfectly fine goal though, right?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

 Should have been a penalty, Nani handballs it, ref plays advantage, Gomes drops the ball for some reason, Nani scores. What a mess.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Exactly, I guess the 4 wrongs did make a right :DD

Good performance from the midfield today, thought Carrick and Fletcher did enough to keep the likes of Modric and Van Der Vaart at arms length. Bale was Rafael's bitch until he went off.

1 goal, 1 assist for Nani Brilliant - See that shot against the cross bar  :...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

You can't see it from that angle but on a replay I saw Kaboul was grabbing him with both hands. Whether there was enough contact to constitute a penalty is debatable, he seemed to try to stay on his feet and delay falling over.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I agree it's fucking disgraceful. Once again United cheating their way to victory. Absolute fucking scandal, the only team who ever get these decisions, you never see it any where else do you? Utter bastards.

I am going to write the FA and the Premier League and demand they strike +1 off their goal difference.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

And this is the same ref that didn't give Mendes' goal for Spurs against United five years ago was it?

Yes, the same guy who, in the Merseyside derby, gave a penalty to Liverpool, sent Hibbert off (at Steven Gerrard's request), let Kuyt off a waist-high lunge and then failed to give Everton a last minute penalty when Carragher pulled down Lescott, meaning Everton lost.

He's just a shit ref.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

It was a very good performance imo. Everyone looked to step up to prove a point.
