Manchester United Thread

I'm not too disappointed that we lost to be honest.Penalties is always a lottery but I felt we should have killed the game earlier. We had plenty of good chances but our young team do not have the mettle yet.Brilliance in flashes but not the finished product.I'm always jealous of Arsenal's young team but the team that Sir Alex puts out against Everton is our future.

Well lads...onwards to the Premiership and the CL now...

Penalties are only a lottery if you take shit penalties. We took shit penalties. Jagielka had some bottle though as he was the one that missed the decisive kick in their last PK defeat.
Anyway, nothing like a bit of bad fortune or a decision going against us to help spur us on for the last few games. Maybe Arsenal can do us a favour, too.

Because even the Utd fans found it hilarious.

I thought it was a pen btw, I don't know what Jagielka was thinking, clumsy.

can't stop watching that...

I'm glad the talk of us cleaning up is over...

Dnt get me wrong its nice being in the mix for all of them, but you just know it couldnt last.....

So now we've got 3 games at home to concentrate on with some big players rested....

To be honest I think it is possible but you need HUGE amounts of luck and quality. we fell just short. I think the gamble SAF has took hasnt been revealed yet anyway, the whole point of resting everyone was so we can pretty much win the PL. Hopefully we can now go on and win against Portsmouth.

Fergie said that he left out the big names due to the condition of the Wembley pitch. I think it was a good move seeing as Arsenal's strikers picked up injuries from it.
It was also interesting to see that Rio & Vidic didn't go up for many corners. Seemed like we were being careful with them too...

Maybe we would have won it if a few first teamers were included. Then again you could say if Tevez & Scholes had taken penalties and Berbasloth hadn't tried to be flash we might have done better.

Still, we have bigger things to worry about, starting with Pompey on Wednesday :)

We haven't scored at Wembley for fucking ages, 0-0 draws all the bloody time! Think we've scored once in about 5 matches since it opened if I'm not mistaken.

that sounds about right now that i think about it, for one reason or another we're never really playing that great when we play there.

I'm still not convinced Sir Alex took the FA Cup seriously enough. He has won enough of 'em so he'd naturally place it right at the bottom of his priorities.
I remember a couple of years ago when Chelsea were in a similar position and they were trying to win every competition they were in. The manager and the players blatantly put a lot of emphasis on "winning the lot" and you got that feeling too when they'd treat each game like a cup final.
But we've never at any point said we're trying to win every trophy. Maybe thats just Sir Alex's style to not get carried away but he never gave the impression that its what he wants. Just like the Carling Cup in the past. Apart from this season, in the previous years it was very clear that Sir Alex couldnt care less about it, fielding random reserve team players instead of a couple of first teamers and senior fringe players like he does now. But on the otherhand, we made it very clear that we wanted to win the World Cup Championship, which we ended up winning. Before the end of the competition there was all this talk about how winning the competition will solidify our status as the best in the world and I think I remember Rooney and/or Carrick saying something about wanting to do it for the fans so that they can tell everyone we're the Champions of the World.
For us (or Sir Alex atleast) its always been about the league and the Champions League. And if we're ever gonna win the lot, we're gonna have to change our approach. And if Sir Alex knows its his last season, I think we just might see it happen. It will probably take just one more signing to pull it off (2 if you include the permanant signing of Tevez). I'm thinking of something along the lines of a utility player like O'Shea but with qualities closer to Essien (big ask, I know). Similar to how Giggs is great on the wing but can do more than just a decent job whether he's playing in the center or behind the striker.
But yeah, the point of my post is, I dont think Sir Alex ever thought about winning the FA Cup. He's probably relieved that he doesnt have another cup final to think about. Cuz he knows he cant beat Chelsea without playing a strong team and that would require him to rest players for the league (which he clearly wants more). I'm just hoping he does it right next year. And hopefully win the CL again so that we get a second chance at the Super Cup. :P

I think he went for the FA Cup but went for it in a way were he wasnt willing to risk the other two, we could easily have won with that team but it didnt work out.

I think with Hargreaves back next season he'll add that player your talking about. I have a feeling we might not sign Tevez. I hope we look into bringing Ribery but thats more a wish then realistic buy.

yeah we could easily be talking about how brilliant SAF was for putting the youngsters in there, it just didnt come off for us in the end.

i dont think we'll sign tevez either. if ronaldo leaves i could see ribery coming.

If we happen to work out a deal for Tevez, that would be a huge bonus for us.I believe Tevez deserves a starting spot in a team and I am impressed with his so far, putting up with being an impact sub.

If Ronaldo leaves...definitely another number 7 will be signed as his replacement and Ribery would be perfect.

I posted this in the arsenal thread but here it goes:

if we beat liverpool and let u beat us in the league game, can u lot(manu) let us through to the final of the champions league?

you have won it enough times and im sure you rather with the title then to see liverpool win it? Plus I think wenger likes ferguson more then benitez.

a favour for a favour?

So you're implying that 2 of the top English sides should get involved in match fixing?
It would never happen, regardless of friendship. Fergie's aim is to better Liverpool's record, so he'd like 2 more league titles before he retires, with another 2 CL titles as if possible.

Plus, you saw what happened to Serie A a few years ago...

Hopefully Agent Silvestre takes one for the team and gives Nando a good kicking.

On the Champions League front. I can't beleive were in a semi final and one step away from Rome? It was just last season were we had gone 9 years without the CL and we were all DESPERATE to win it. Yet now no ones really made a big deal out of it this time. Just shows how quickly things change eh?

Arsenal have no hope tonight lads, Normally when were top going in to a run in im always confident but thats normally because we know our form is better than the challengers, thats not the case at the moment which is a worry. Hopefully Arsenal can nick a point giving us a 1 game blip cussion (which I think we might need)

What the hell is Fergie doing? Playing all 3 geriatrics at the same time? No Rio, only Rooney and Ronaldo as strikers AT HOME?! WTF?!??!
It's like he wants to make it difficult or something. And what hte hell does Nani have to do to get a game ffs. It's not as though Anderson is likely to pop up with a vital goal!

Some of our finishing has been shocking, and we need a bit more luck (like the header cleared off the line) but at least we're playing some nice stuff.

lol this is funny. thanks.

These 3 look like great friends. It's also interesting to see how humble they are. They are huge stars but the house looks nothing special, they are just like any other tight group of friends, it's good to see vids like this from time to time to see what guys who we follow in the pitch are like off of it at times. I appreciate it.
The funniest thing is that they are from completely different upbringings and cultures, yet football bonds them together. :D
