damn international not yet started and people getting injured great!! Doesnt bode well for all the clubs players playing the International!!

I simply cannot wait to see this dream formation being tested out.Rooney will be given is number 10,free roaming role ala Zidane.Given his energy, vision and control...he has the potential to succeed there.Anderson and Scholes can also occupy that role from time to time.
The second strikers in Tevez and Ronaldo can also rotate between each other while Berbatov stays upfront, finishing off chances.Ouh Happy Days.

Cant see us playing that regularly, I also think Brown is our first choice RB now. One of the front 4 will be on the bench to come on. We'll probably play this

------------Van Der Sar------------
------------------------------------
Brown--Ferdinand---Vidic---Evra---
----------------------------------
---------Scholes--Carrick---Nani--
-Ronaldo----------Rooney--------
----------Berbatov-------------

Currently id have Tevez were Rooney is and Rooney would be benched, But in the long term I think Rooney will show why he deserves to start ahead of Tevez

That looks like quite a tasty line up, though I think Berba might drop slightly deeper to link the play. It'd also save both Rooney and Tevez both leaving their forward line which would make our counter attacks more devastating.
I'd also like to see Anderson given a go in a more attacking role. Our Porto friends raved about him playing there, and seeing as DM isn't his strongest position I can only think how good he can be there...

Plus you don't play Rooney, Ronaldo, Tevez AND Berbatov in the same side. Then you'll have no one on the bench. With 10 mins to go and everyone tired, who do you bring on? Dong?

Manucho ;))
You wouldn't start all 4 every game, but it would be interesting if / when we do...

I thought Dong was released a few weeks ago?

Yeah we got rid of Dong before the window closed. Can't see us regretting that one.. :)

I think the team will just be unbalanced if we play the 4 big attacking names together. Berba/Ronaldo will not track back, and that would mean Rooney and Tevez would end up doing that too much and being out of position. I think you have to stick on 3 at a time, and use the other as an impact sub. I think our strongest formation will be:

------------VDS-------------
--Wes--Rio-----Vidic--Evra--
-------Carrick-Scholes-----
----------Anderson----------
-Ronaldo-----------Rooney---
-----------Berba------------

With Tevez/Nani/Giggs able to replace any of those behind Berba, and Hargo/Fletcher able to replace any of the midfield. If we need to peg a goal back, and you can pull ando, but I think you'll need the strong centre to support the defense against good teams.

You are understandably right Rune...but Dong is out of the club!

Its a case of who sits out the next game and so on and so forth.

Everyone has got to prove themselves worthy of playing in the first eleven.

I bet Manucho will create and impact this season. We were quite lousy against tall, mean opponent defences like Portsmouth and Chelsea...Imagine Manucho and Berbatov occupying them while having the likes of Tevez,Ronaldo,Rooney,Nani,Giggs and Park harrassing them.

Theres no way we forked out 30M to end up with Rooney on the left. What we'll play is the same side we played with last season With Rooney and Tevez both sharing their time behind Berba.

It will be interesting to see if SAF tries any new systems during the course of the season without Ronaldo in the team, Would hint at wether or not he might leave.

Switch Nani in for Giggs and that will be what we'll end up with but Rooney and Tevez will both rotate throughout the season.

Was just thinking last season we played some good football and were more successfull but for some reason I think our football in the 06/07 season was better than last seasons. I remember so many goals which that season which made drool compared to last season. Maybe going back to that 4-4-1-1 formation will work better than our current 4-4-2/4-3-3

Tevez is a no brainer starter, he the main reason Man u still living right now with ronaldo missing. that guy is a die hard worker he just never stop working for the ball and creating opportnity while rooney...hes going downfall badly at the moment.

Agree

I would have to say 06/07 the football was a tad better!

07/08 wasnt too bad though a nifty double, so the football must have been alright I suppose

Yes, 06/07 was a great year. You helped some European club win some big trophy, not sure which.:-pp

If you bench Tevez, thats a lot of good work rate gone for United. Berbatov looks like the opposite.

Our football was definitely better in 06/07 - I think alot of that was down to us not playing Rooney as the lone forward as often. Partly as Saha was fit, but moreso just reflecting his role the season before, he was so much more useful in the hole. He was also hurt a decent chunk of last season.

Other key factor was that Giggs was awesome in 06/07, and last season was rubbish (even though he clearly scored that vital goal at Wigan) but still on the pitch most days. His distribution and retention in 06/07 coupled with similar from Ronaldo meant we kept ridiculous posession - last year both Giggs and Nani menat if hte ball was played to the left side, we tended to lose it.

Anyway, interesting and good point re: two seasons. We're not looking too sharp this year either!

Not sharp just yet I suppose and we havent hit the ground, running either. We had a slow start last year too but it didnt stop us from winning the double.

For now,we have to settle for the trio of Berbatov,Tevez and Rooney, with the latter two playing just behind the Bulgarian. It will certainly be a healty problem once 'the best player in the planet' comes back from his injury.
