Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Rooney Back!?

Gareth bale looks like we missed the bus on that one......... with silvestre out for the season... and heinze gone .... finding a quality back up in january gonna be difficult cant even think of a reasonable left back that out there...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Rooney Back!?

I say give Pique some games. He only played for a short time on Saturday but what impressed me was the way he won the header near the end. That is something our defence is lacking and only really Vidic can do it.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Rooney Back!?

Well, I thought that was a very good win.

The defence was 99% rock solid, VDS made a superhuman save, and the goal was nicely worked.

We still looked completely lacking in any kind of spark though unfortunately. Admittedly the pitch didnt help, but the passing was generally awful, and allround ball retention wasn't great either.

Still, its 3 points, which is more than Liverpool and Chelski got :D

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Rooney Back!?

Cracking game well played still lacking that bite tho to bang in a few goals (dont wanna be a chelsea machine winning 1-0 matches!)

We need to return to our old selves where we would bang in the goals most games. Anderson needs time but looked ok had to be Ronaldo tho didnt it for the goal :D:applause: Tevez can't see any improvement but Ronaldo really turned the game around!

The pitch... no words needed it was SHOCKING!! Just crumbled under any pressure from players feet or the ball

I think I was the only one that said Smith was the better finisher. Just keep watching and you'll realise why.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Rooney Back!?

I also mentioned that he was just like Andy Cole. He needs a lot of chances before he scores. His biggest strength is probably his heading but he doesn't get to use it so much. Maybe when Neville is back he'll get more crosses.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Rooney Back!?

There were two shots he took that should've been passes to his open teammates. Anderson and some other. Oh well, you won in the potatoe field anyway. :)

and your wrong, have you seen smith for newcastle, he is horrible ever since his injury. Im shocked alardyce keeps putting him in. he is not united quality and he certainly isnt as good as saha when both have there game on.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Rooney Back!?

He'll still score the ones that Saha misses.

From ESPNsoccernet:

Man Utd's Ronaldo to face fan 'stamp' probe

Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo is at the centre of an official police probe after an Everton fan claimed he was stamped on during a match.

Merseyside Police today confirmed they are speaking to witnesses and studying CCTV to establish precisely what happened during Saturday's match at Goodison Park when Everton faced Manchester United.

Carl Lloyd, 34, told the Daily Post newspaper that the Portuguese winger sank his studs into his right arm.

The joiner alleged the incident happened during the Premier League clash as he leaned over the advertising hoardings to retrieve the ball when it went out of play.

Mr Lloyd, of Wallasey, Merseyside, said he needed hospital treatment and said: 'I've been in excruciating pain.

'I don't know if I'll work again any time soon.

'I couldn't believe what happened.

'All I was doing was trying to retrieve the ball.'

A spokesman for Merseyside Police confirmed Mr Lloyd had made an official complaint and the investigation is ongoing.

It would have been great if Smith had his Leeds form for us and yeah, like RunEdge said, he's able to score from shots that Saha can't.(though I prefer Saha than him)

His goals ratio at leeds wasnt the best either, but players like him bring that something else to the team! Although he was never good enough for a top team imo. He learnt everything he knew from watching Dicov...;)

Despite this, they admired and respected each other I think. And as much as Jose was a twat, I'll miss him as well. Watching MOTD won't be the same.

Agree mate.

His explanation on Sky Sports made me laugh. Could you see him being United boss in the future? After his next job in Italy(It will happen)

Cheeky thought.

I'm unsure what to think, because it could have the full win/draw/lose outcome.

1. Win - they're demoralised and without Jose, maybe Grant isn't upto the task in such a short time, so we absolutely batter them (unlikely we batter them given our liking for 1-0 wins).

2. Draw - It's either a tight game, or we outplay them all over the park, but cannot score at all (pretty likely).

3. Lose - The team we're playing have a new manager, and what do new managers always do? Win their first match. Plus it would just be a kick in the teeth after everything thats happened to Chelsea this week/season to beat us.
