Manchester United Thread

but your cheif exec has said you wont spend big! plus you have already spent on smith, miller and the possible arrival of heinze!

I actually read that on Teletext, in a newspaper (I think it was News Of The World) and I also read at www.footballtransfers.co.uk (they only gave confirmed info)

It says that Man U were given £40million to spend for the season. They spent £7mil on Smith and maybe another £6mil on Heinze so that leaves about £27million.
They could sell Butt, Forlan and Solskjaer and make atleast £15mil in total from them so that would bring them back upto about £40million again.

If I had control of that money, I'd just spend it all on trying to get Ronaldinho.

I'd make a real concerted effort to try and bring in Stevie G, He had a real close bond with Houllier, and must be unsure of his own future now the board has dumped him,he's got his best years in front of him and wants to win things. He's stated that Liverpool must bring in world class signings this summer for him to remain happy.I'd hit them with a £30M+ public offer to put the cat amongst the pigeons.

Whats a PSV?

Remember Arjen Robben? I would call it "A Chelsea" instead.Lots of players have done it,Scott Parker,Joe Cole,Veron,Makelele....and of course Arjen Robben, lets see whos next in the coming weeks as Roman plays realtime championship manager.

Wouldn't it be great if Roman Abramovich just walked out on Chelsea all of a sudden?
That one man stole Man Utd's power on the transfer market. We'll never be able to buy in big name players again. We'll just have to find the "hidden" talent like Cristiano Ronaldo.
Chelsea have now been linked with Ronaldinho. If they bring him in with Roberto Carlos, all they would need is a striker and a right winger and they will have the perfect team.
I thought success can't be bought but Roman has proved us wrong.

Carlos won't be leaving to Chelsea at least until next year!!!! it is proven...check soccernet.com

and Ronaldinho leaving Barca?? they might get Kluivert or Overmars instead of Ronaldinho since he brought them to second place this year!!!

and Manchester getting Heinze would be nice...another hidden talent?? Man, this sucks, stupid Roman did take all of our chances of getting big names!!!

I'm wondering who will Sir Alex partner with van Nistelrooy. Will it be Saha or Smith?
I'm getting this feeling that Smith will shine at United.
With Heinze in the team, we could have him paired with Rio in the middle and then we could finally Silvestre the left side back to him.
And I hope Kleberson proves to be worth something. I had high expectations of him, mainly because he's the first Brazillian at Man U but he never really got the chance to show it.

For all PSG's bleating the deal for Heinze seems to be all but done, expect an announcment to the stock exchange today.

So, so far we've got Miller (MF) and Smith (CF), if we get this fella we'll have a a new defender and all of them no older than 26, Fergie is sticking to his guns and building a new younger team.

where did you hear this Vann ?

As for the defence next season I reckon a -

G.Neville, Brown, Ferdinand, Silvestre

would be strong enough, Brown has shown that he can be solid as a rock when he has played (FA Cup semi final for instance) for me he his good enough to get into the first eleven at Man Utd.

Ahh I have my contacts.

Its gonna be difficult next year cos we have a unique situation in that everyone apart from Rio can play anywhere along the back four, I reckon Fergie will try a few variations out before the season starts.

Man Utd already have a good team thats only gonna develop and get better in the future.
The big problem IMO is that Chelsea seem to be linked with so many great players and if they do sign 'em, we're gonna have another tough season.

lol what great players are these??

its superb to have a flexible defence...cos we've got lots of covers.Rio will be the stalwart of the defence cos its his 'home'.Its game on next season...

there is no way silvestre will stay at united if he is moved to left back! he has said in so many interviews that he doesnt like playing here . i even remember when he first came there was talk that he was going to leave unless he played in the centre!

Yeah, but he wouldnt leave to go to a smaller club just to be playing centre back.

well.. if heinze joins us, he can play at LB and O'shea at right back

i know all of you think i'm crazy to drop gary in the sub!! but i think it's time for o'shea to play @ right back

yeah I think Sheasy at right back would do the trick, drop neville and play heinze at LB.

Looks like we've agreed to have Carlos back as Fergies number 2!!!

I think O'Shea better work on that left foot of his :D.
Smith said that he thinks he won't have to spend time on the bench because he's good enough, I think he'll be surprised :).
I got a feeling that next season will be much better, especially with Ronaldo and Giggs in the middle and Ruud and Louis Saha in front. I see huge potential in Kleberson, but he's been unlucky this season.

Has anyone seen Liam Miller play? Is as good as people claim he is? He's being called the new Roy Keane after all (which I take with huge grain of salt).
