Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Don't forget Beckham was loaned out early in his career as well ;)

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Haven't seen him once myself, maybe 1 or 2 Bordeaux games but I don't remember him. Potential Ronaldo replacement then Abhi?

Well it's very difficult to say that he's going to score 30+ goals a season in a few years. Even Ronaldo struggled to score early on. But he's very talented, probably on the same level as Ronaldo when he was 17. He's got the natural athleticism of Ronaldo as well. Still, it's impossible to call him a Ronaldo replacement, whether he has the desire to improve like Ronaldo, we don't know, but I think Ferguson has the same idea.

He's spent the season on loan at Lorient, and looked good, and he stood out for the French U-21 alongwith Ngog and Sissoko.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Thing is, like I said before, almost everyone took it as gospel that he was a crippled hasbeen, it was just that and nobody bothered to think any different and the guy was a laughing stock. I dont mind admitting I thought it too, but it's wrong. It's sad that he had to do a brochure to prove he wasn't as bad as has been made out, but that shows the kind of world we live in at the minute. He got a couple of hundred grand in damages off the Express a couple of weeks ago for a story they printed saying he was considering retirement cos his injuries were so bad. It's ridiculous really and could've been the difference between him fading away and what's happened now where he's got the chance to win trophies, score goals for a top team and get back into the England team for the World Cup.

It's sad how much power the pathetic wankers, sorry, "journalist's" have over everything in this country.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

So according to that he had no injuries in 2008 and only one in 2009....

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

why are Liverpool fans still moaning and having a go about Owen, you mob have Torres, I know who i would want to play for me

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

im just saying that i dont know why its such a big deal mate,

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Torres is injured more often than Owen!!

that`s not true! Torres been playing so many games tbf after the euro tourney is the only time he`s been in the confed cup playing mostly all the games

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

:D

Take away European games and Owen played more games than Torres last season despite Newcastle going out earlier in the FA Cup.

Rafa blamed losing the league on the fact Torres was always injured.

:SMUG:

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Im sure he does, He would love to just play for Bordeaux I'd think.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

If you are talking about speed...we got it in Valencia, who in my opinion is much much better than Aaron Lennon in almost all attributes.

he has no skill trust me if lennon was on a bad glab and had to be the star he would be better, plus lennon is english which is good to have british players in england. valencia will be worse than a nicolas cage film

I dont want to trust you mate.I dont understand the words I made bold either.

Amongst the top 4...I'd reckon we have the biggest group of british based players...first team starters for england in Rooney and Ferdinand. No problems there mate.

Which Valencia have you been watching? We got professional managers and players saying how good of a player Antonio Valencia is.A hardworking and dedicated professional who is willing to learn. What more can you ask for a 23 year old,Ecuadorian plying his trade at the highest level?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

He's the same Valencia that was wanted by Madrid. I'm sure he's rated higher than Lennon.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

ferdinand getting on a bit id take carragher nd gerrard instead

Get your facts straight before you try stirring it up in here. Rio is younger than Carragher.

Our British players: G.Neville, Hargreaves, Ferdinand, Brown, Rooney, Giggs, Foster, Carrick, Scholes, Welbeck, Evans, Fletcher, Simpson, Gibson, Campbell. 11 out of those 15 are home grown.

Yours: Hutton, Bale, Bentley, Huddlestone, Lennon, Jenas, Bent, Gunter, Dawson, O'Hara, Defoe, King, Woodgate. 3 homegrown players...

And you're having a dig at us signing Valencia...?

Well, since you're talking about "facts", O'Shea and Keane aren't British.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

 I was just testing you - honest! :D

Edit: Fixed now. You Liverpool lot love your facts... ;)

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I wonder if Fergie is planning for a rainy day...ie he doens't believe this transfer market is sustainable. I just don't know who our 'big money' signing could be, nor do I know if I really want one. While I'm happy to admit our first XI is probably not as good as a handful of other European powerhouses, our squad is still up there. And yes, we have some inconsistent/not quite top class players, but that's what you need over the course of a season. For me our first XI (with the big if around Hargo):

-----------VDS-----------
-Brown--Rio----Vida-Evra-
-------Hargo-Carrick-----
--Valencia--------Nani---
-----Rooney---Berbatov---
Not too shabby, take out a winger stick in Anderson for a 433 if you'd like.
Our squad looks like:
GK: VDS, Foster, Kuszcak
RB: Brown, Rafa, Neville(ish)
CB: Rio, Vida, Evans
LB: Evra, O'Shea, Fabio
CMF: Carrick, Hargreaves (?), Anderson, Fletcher, Scholes, Giggs, Gibson
SMF/WF: Valencia, Park, Nani, Tosic
FW: Berbatov, Rooney, Owen, Welbeck, Macheda

Looking at that, our wings seem a bit weak (Park/Tosic...eesh) but everywhere else has sufficient cover.

Anyway, my point is, if Hargreaves is alive and well (which Fergie should know) do we really need anyone else? In what position?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I think it's worth waiting to sign at a later date then this summer as its ridiculous atm.

Not sure about the squad, I think it's has gone down a peg. Liverpool's problem was that when they missed 1st team players they dropped down too much overal, Utd look the same atm. There's no-one in the squad that can come off the bench and make a difference regulary imo. I consider Owen someone to come on when you are dominating already to get that single touch for a goal. Not to tactically change a match. And who can come in for other players being rested: Rooney - Macheda / Berbatov - Welbeck. Thats so much weaker then last season when you could use atleast one of those and/or Tevez before even needing the young lads. Even the first team, with Nani and "Hargreaves" looks weak. Valencia is still an unknown, Liverpool have signed enough players that looked good for their teams only to not make a step up or look ordinary with better players around. We will have to see if the regulars can cope whilst the others make the step up.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

A new 4 year deal for Foster.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I think when you look at "World Class" players were still way ahead of most. I think if we got De Rossi we'd be arguably better "overall" than before. Midfield is the only area were he don't have the same level as quality.

Man Utd - Vidic, Ferdinand, Evra and Rooney
Liverpool - Mascherano, Gerrard and Torres
Chelsea - Cole, Carvalho, Essien, Lampard and Drogba

And Potentially, we have Anderson who I think will hit that level and maybe Welbeck and the twins.
