Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

Wes Brown is decent, but really, not good enough for United. Think you'll be pushing for Lahm in the summer.

Anyways, don't worry, Newcastle are going to get thrashed. Even we beat them 3-0.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

A bit sad really. I know players like Butt and Phil Neville have moved on but it was a mutual agreement. Here it looks like Sir Alex would have liked him to stay. He's not exactly the best right back we can get but I think its cuz he could also play as a center half that the boss wanted to keep him.
I guess the good news is that this'll push us to get a better replacement.

He should realise how lucky he is to be there - I can see him going to Newcastle

Totally agree. Everytime I watch us play it's a weak area. Brown just doesn't have the "touch" that a World Class right-back has. He's been a good servant to United over the years, gutted he is going but onwards & upwards.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

He is a good player to have as he didn't expect to play every week. If we get a world class replacement, we end up with another Heinze situation where Simpson or Pique don't want to saty and fight.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

Heinze was world class. Anyways, Brown is going, so getting another world class player won't hurt will it. Get a RB, and an out and out striker (Manucho?) and IMO, United team will be complete.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

It will definitely be a fullback and just maybe a striker now.Phillipe Lahm would be perfect as he can play both sides whereas Daniel Alves would add another dimension to our attack from the right side. Both of them are linked to us and will only be much clearer come summer.

I guess we will only buy another striker if one of the first teamers leave.High candidate for that spot is Louis Saha.Maybe Benzema, maybe Amauri, maybe Huntelaar who knows.

If neither of these two transfers happen,heyy..we always have Danny Simpson and Manucho.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

Why would Lahm want to leave a brilliant league & team? It's his homeland and Bayern will be one of the favourites to win the European Cup next year. Klinnsman won't let him go.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

@phrase: my match was the previous night and I watch as many games as possible... epl mostly cause those are the only games I get to watch.. and I haven't read any other comments against my post... admit it.. Benzema's goal and if Ben Arfa had been less selfish the scoreline could have looked a lot different..

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

Lyon didn't really test van der Sar. Apart from Benzema's goal, the closest they came to scoring was when Ferdinand sliced a clearance just wide of his own goal. Juninho had a couple of free-kicks and Ben Arfa blasted over but they never dominated the game and neither did we. Only when Nani and Tevez came on did we look like having a good chance of breaking through Lyon's defence, Boumsong actually impressed me because he made a few good blocks and interceptions. Rooney had a good chance in the first half, when Coupet saved well but apart from Benzema's goal, we restricted Lyon to only half chances. If Rooney had took his chance, Coupet hadn't saved a couple of Ronaldo's freekicks and Carrick didn't have a shot well blocked, the score could have looked even more different.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

Ronaldo is due a goal tomorrow lads. He hasn't scored for a few games.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

Delta619...I dont know what you are on about mate...Take it from Bash-It,now thats a decent post.

We must win tomorrow no matter what...at all costs, just to spare our chances of retaining the premiership.I hope Steve Bruce's boys can do us a favour and perhaps halt the Goons.

Ronaldo looks jaded to be honest which explains his so-so form lately. It will be great if Ronaldo can find his scoring boots again. One more player who is due a goal is Anderson. He needs a goal to perhaps open up a few more tricks in his locker.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

If Anderson gets a goal I am sure they will keep coming. I think the lad is brilliant! how Abhishek could compare him to Pony Lucas I dont know!!!

Lol, and you are basing that on his first big Champions League game? Where he was still decent. You obviously didn't see him boss around Makelele and Ballack against Chelsea, or any other game against West Ham, Newcastle, Bolton, or the derby where he won us the match? Get some objective mate, and get your red tinted glasses off.

Anderson and Lucas will be future stars, I am sure of it, and the heart of Brazil's future midfield. They still have a long way to go, and saying the Anderson is miles ahead of Lucas is BS

How you could say something like that, I don't know! ;)

PS Lucas has already scored for us. Even though it was against H&W, it was some strike! :)

Steve Bruce isn't Birmingham coach anymore ,it's Mccleish;)(former Scotland National coach)

I am not siding Bhai or anything but this Lucas kid is indeed kinda special.Although I have only seen him in bits and pieces,to keep a player like Xabi Alonso out of the team really takes a lot.

If that does not convince you enough, check this out.Lucas Levia was a winner of the Bola de Ouro in 2006,the brasilian Golden Ball award given each year to the best player in the Brazilian National Championship.Check out the list of winners.

2007 : Thiago Neves (Fluminense)
2006 : Lucas (Grêmio)
2005 : Carlos Tévez (Corinthians)
2004 : Robinho (Santos FC)
2003 : Alex (Cruzeiro)
2002 : Kaká (São Paulo FC)
2001 : Alex Mineiro (Atlético Paranaense)
2000 : Romario (Vasco da Gama)
1999 : Marcelinho (Corinthians)
1998 : Edilson (Corinthians)
1997 : Edmundo (Vasco da Gama)
1996 : Djalminha (Palmeiras)
1995 : Giovanni (Santos FC)
1994 : Amoroso (Guarani)
1993 : César Sampaio (Palmeiras)
1992 : Júnior (Flamengo)
1991 : Mauro Silva (Bragantino)
1990 : César Sampaio (Santos FC)

Our little Carlos won it in 2005,the first foreigner to win it since 1976.Says a lot really for Tevez and Lucas.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

I know Bhai, that's exactly what I am saying :)

My Brazilian friend has been raving about him for 2 years before he came to Anfield.

So is Evra, and that's the point. You get problems when you have two world class players fighting for the same position. Brown is not world class so it's worth keeping him in the same way that we keep O'Shea and Fletcher.

Blimey, dont mind my memory lapse ...Brucey moved on to Wigan.Well, lets see if McLeish learnt well from his master Sir Alex and halt arsenal then!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

B'ham are already down to ten men & Eduardo has broken his foot!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

Me too mate, he is fucking c**t. Kicking Nani last week & then sulking today like a baby. Captain material? The Jury is out.

Anyway, whilst the Goons are sulking & blaming everyone apart from their players for not putting away B'ham like we and Chelsea did; we gotta win at Newcastle today. Most important game this season so far.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

Must win game against Newcastle now

What an opportunity to get the gap down to 3 points which will make the recent stuttering Arsenal look behind their shoulders

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

We HAVE to win today. It will either be a tough match or we'll beat them 3-0.

Arsenal & Man United's next few fixtures after today:

Arsenal:

Arsenal vs Aston Villa

AC Milan vs Arsenal

Wigan vs Arsenal

Arsenal vs Middlesbrough

Chelsea vs Arsenal

Bolton vs Arsenal

Arsenal vs Liverpool

Man Utd vs Arsenal

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

I would say we'd beat Fulham, Lyon, Portsmouth AND Derby.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

I think we come off better on that fixture list, as far as the league goes. Not many hard games, and nearly all of them at home. The only ones to worry about are Pool, Villa, and of course Arsenal.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

It could be a coincidence that last season's turning point in the season, where it really looked like United would be champions again, was Fulham away when Ronaldo scored that goal in the last minute!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread .

I think the last 4 of those matches could decide the title.
