Manchester United Thread

I think I've sussed Carrick: he attempts to make a great first touch when he receives the ball, and pull it into space that'll give him time to look up and play a creative pass. However, he's a bit crap, and barely ever manages to make that first touch count, and as he can't dribble, he then passes back to rio/vidic and hopes to get another try. I said it to one of my mates about 10 mins through last nights match, and for the rest of the time it was like a crystal ball.

Still here mate!;) i think it's unfair to blame Saha all the greats players missed penalty even RvN Yesterday missed an important one.At least Saha had the balls to take it.
just see G.Nevill "knew saha would miss it"so why he didn't tell to someone else to take it?
If someone as good as van Nistelrooy was playing, we probably wouldnt have needed to score that penalty to win the game anyway...

hmmmm did he not score a beauty against blackburn? has he not been
scoring all year? one game does not a player make...
He's not scoring any more than Ruud would have been scoring. And it doesnt matter anyway cuz he couldnt score when we needed it the most.
On top of that, we've seen time and time again that he cant convert one on one chances to save his life. And thats the type of striker we need cuz he gets us the type of goals Rooney, or Giggs would score for us anyway. We need someone deadly in the box and Saha isnt. He's not giving us anything another half decent player wouldnt provide.

I still rate Saha and think he compliments our style of play but i do think Fergie will get another striker, possibly Torres. If that does happen then i would like to see if Saha could play more of a winger role and maybe not replace Giggs but provide another option.

Ive been impressed with Saha this season and Im not letting last nights performance turn me into a Saha hater. Overall United played well but were disapointing in the final 3rd, in terms of away games that last night was the toughiest by far this season and United shouldnt have been in the situation they were/are in (Should have made sure of qualification against Copenhagen) but its got to be done the hard way.....again!

If someone as good as van Nistelrooy was playing, we probably wouldnt have needed to score that penalty to win the game anyway...
You do know that van the man missed another pen against Lyon. Give Saha a break, it was a good save.

I thought you lots would be happy to play Benfica FC, to beat them twice and to sent them off. You`ll be over the moon...

All this talk about Saha is real interesting the more the banter the better he performs

Saha is a great player, you can't expect him to score all his chances.

I think United fans have been spoilt with the amazingly prolific Ruud van Nistelrooy.

Saha basically scores the chances that we dont expect him to convert and then f*ck up the ones that he should be burying.
The simple problem with that is, if he's gonna only score the half chances, we wont know when to expect goals from him. If Ronaldo for example has a brilliant game and gives him 5 great assists, whats the point if he's not gonna convert them? Giving him service is no use, which is why he was scoring just as many goals at Fulham. His goals are down to his own ability, not the team's ability. The team can have 10 great performances in a row, but Saha will only score when he plays well.

Now if we had a striker who actually makes use of the service provided to him, he'd score when the team creates chances which is better since we have so many players who can give you that service.

I think Rune sums up Saha pretty much there but I still think Saha is quality. He just lacks the composure when one v one with the keeper plus he is erratic at times. For me the best quality he has is his agility, his aggression and the runs he makes. He has made our attack less predictable.

6 points ahead after a victory today would be maaaaaaasssive.Almost everybody in the footballing world without blue tinted shades are rooting for a Man United victory.

How do you know that??

you've turned into the new us, when we were winning in the 90s, everyone hated us.

Now everyone hates you, cause you've completely bought the title, have an arrogant twat of a manager, and you have the backing of the head of the Russian Mafia, Don Roman

Even if we lose, we'd still be level on points. But I think we need the win simply because it puts too much pressure on us to get the win at Stamford Bridge which would be harder to do.
We must win at home to be able to afford to lose away.

interesting result, I would've loved a win, but I think their goal was innevitable, unfortunately, Saha was in the way of VDS when the header went in, cause I'm absolutely confident that VDS would've got a hand to it, if you see highlights, watch the level of the ball, and VDS's hand when hes diving for it. Anyways, why did Chelsea stop? the last ten minutes they just gave up and let us back into the game.

still 3 points ahead, that's fine, would've loved 6, but ah well

More or less fair result. We bossed the first half and they did so the second. One critical point i have about Uniteds play this season is that on too many occasions we cross the ball into the box and we only have one or if lucky two people to meet the ball.

Chelsea were pegged back the whole first half and we should have got another goal to kill them.It didnt happen and they equalised with a fantastic goal from Carvalho.Didyall see how high he leaped? Still think Heinze should have done better.Fair result to be honest and lets all move along now.Still 3 points clear.

Hey, Carrick played well! There we go!

Thought it was a good game of footie, much better than I'd feared. Chelsea looked overrun in the first half, but owned United for the second. Thought giggs should have done better when he went through, but overall pretty solid. Injuries are worrying, game Wednesday without Ronaldo and Saha would be tough, especially against Everton.

We need reinforcements in Jan, I think if we're still tight with Chelsea and in the CL we'll get them, but if not, might be a dissapointing few months next year.

Disappointed about the result. We seemed to take a one goal lead having bossed the 1st half, then try and just hold on to 1 goal in the second half and we seemed to get punished for it! I think we should have really won that game but at least we didnt lose :)

Love it:
'It was an afternoon that reminded us why, 30 years ago, a middle-aged man by the name of Bobby Charlton spoke of "a theatre of dreams". Old Trafford under floodlights is a truly seductive place. The noise, the colours, the thousands of faces. Four vertiginous stands, all packed. For five minutes before kick-off, Roman Abramovich just stood there, gawking, taking it all in. And it was here that, deep down, Peter Kenyon must have realised the folly of predicting Chelsea were on course to overtake Manchester United as the biggest club there is' - Daniel Taylor, The Guardian.

i thought we were a bit unlucky, but chelsea never looked like winning the game, hope Ronaldo and Saha are ok and not injured
