Manchester United Thread

So big Dave Jones appears to have left, and permanenty too! WTF? I thought he was a really top prospect!? He was great for the reserves, wonder what happened.

Does this seem to anyone to more or less guarantee we're getting a new CMF soon?

Bayern have come out recently with a 'hands off' warning stating that they are not willing to sell him in the janaury transfer window or anytime soon.

Bayern Munich have told United they are fighting a losing battle in their quest to sign Owen Hargreaves.

Earlier this week Sir Alex Ferguson revealed that the Reds are still keen to recruit the England midfielder after missing out on securing his services during the summer.

The 25-year-old, who is currently recovering from a broken leg, is reportedly still keen to join the Reds, but Bayern general manager Uli Hoeness insists the midfielder will not be allowed to leave.

"All United's efforts to sign Owen Hargreaves are utterly futile," Hoeness told the Daily Mirror.

"We will not release Owen Hargreaves in January under any circumstances."

Personally I'm not too bothered about Hargreaves anymore. Carrick and Scholes seem to be doing just fine, and its good enough for me.

and what if one of them gets hurt, Oshite, or the inconsistent fletcher....
we need this player, if not him they should go get senna from villareal, that was a HUGE mistake in my opinion

Parker would bring in that fighting spirit that we lack now that Keano has gone. That alone would convince me to buy him before Carrick, Hargreaves and Senna.

Obi wank twat kenobi refuses to talk to his parents

CHELSEA star John Obi Mikel has stunned his parents — by refusing to talk to them, writes CHARLIE WYETT.

The moody 19-year-old Nigerian has already been warned to improve his attitude by Stamford Bridge manager Jose Mourinho.

And the player’s dad Michael also attempted to ring to find out more about the problems.

He revealed: “We are very sad. His mother also is worried. We had tried to get him but he no longer picks up our calls.

“I don’t know why he is behaving like this. We are not happy about it but I was told the problem has been settled.

“I learnt he has been responding well to training. I hope to see him back in action. I hope to see him play a good-boy role again because the coach loves him.

“Mourinho has shown more interest in him than any other player in the team. As a young man, I expected him to concentrate on his career.

“The whole family is worried and we hope to see a better Mikel. We’ve heard enough of this.”

Don't worry he will soon release a statement about how he actually belongs to another family and this one had forced him to be a member of theirs. His parents should receive about 10mil or so for their troubles after some kind of protracted saga involving John Shittu and roman abramovich.

Parker is English, he'll understand the club and its traditions easier, and he already has Premiership experience. I dont see how Senna would be a better signing.

I agree about Parker but still feel that Jones should have been given more of a run in the first team especially some sub appearances in league matches. He was always touted as one of the better players to come through but wasnt really given a fair chance.

this happens a lot with good reserves and youth players at United. All I can think is their attitude isn't right, so they get rid quickly. Some of the players we've kept aren't the best but they have the right mentallity.

Anyone seen what happend to Paddy Kenny ? makes you wonder if he will play Saturday with one eyebrow!

I heard that Neville could be fit for the game but still not sure on Giggs fitness after he picked up a knock playing for Wales. If everything is fine I can see an unchanged squad from the Blackburn game. As for Celtic next week thats going to be a tough one if I was Fergie I would be tempted to rest the likes of Neville, Giggs and Scholes just to make sure they are fit for the Chelsea game because that is important, then go all out for the win against Benfica

That could backfire though. I think we should go out to beat Celtic and make sure of qualification to the next stage. Chelsea are strong enough to beat our full strength team. In the end though, we could beat Chelsea and then lose to Spurs or someone whearas if we lose to Celtic, the pressure could really be on for the Benfica game and if we lost that one, we could be out.

Barring injuries on Saturday, I expect the full strength team to head to Glasgow. Fergie's not going to risk going out to Benfica again!

Good hard fought win, you can tell the team as matured this season because when ever they go 1-0 down they dont panic and just carry on playing to get the result. 2 great goals so it sounds by Rooney, sounds like Ronaldo was unlucky with hitting the bar but I cant see him having many excuses for the 3 yard open net that went over!

it was an example of a game we wouldve lost last season, so it's nice that we ground out the result.

glad to see Rooney score 2, Ronaldo must've absolutely wacked the ball to miss from 3 yards

United look scary this season - the old 'never give up' attitude seems to be back, which is a warning to EVERY club in Europe.

definately true, but it's the way we go about getting the results which is impressive this year, we're not panicking if we go behind and we don't get frustrated, and when you're calmer, you're less likely to miss chances

so obviously Ronaldo shat himself

The thing that I'm so pleased about is that on any other day, Ronaldo would have scored them even though he didnt even need to score to win the game today.

I think this is the first time in a while that we're going into a game against Chelsea with this much confidence.

The ball bobbled a bit before it got to Ronaldo but it was pretty funny and I expect the media to hammer him for it. Because it's him, it will be the miss of the season.
