Manchester United Thread

Well how many of those players are out there that dont prefer to join another club?

Christ we don't want to guess who is gonna be good at United - we need a READY-MADE midfielder who can slot in straight away. We cannot afford another Kleberson-style affair. We need an Essien - and NOW.
yeah we need the AMERICAN money from the AMERICAN Glazer family, to start buying some new players, maybe an AMERICAN. Oh well thank god for america, or maybe we wouldnt have the kitty to go get money.. the glazers told SAF, whatever it takes.. nice AMERICANS

Thats Diarra!

Currently watching the Beckham documentary on itv & to hear him say he never wanted to leav the club kind me wish he & SAF had sorted it out!

Never been the same since.

I've not seen all that much of Essien, but from what i have seen i wasn't very impressed. He is an awful tackler too. Yeah he'll stop their man, but two tackles and he's off ;) .

It is rather worrying that there's been no news of any signings! Hopefully soon though...

Well it would be wiser to watch the World Cup first, wouldnt it?

no, if the scouts know who they want now, then they should definitely do it before the world cup. Prices only go up after world cups...

We dont need to wait till the worldcup is done.Look at Chelski and Arsenal. They got their main transfer targets done well before the WC started.I figured if we really wanted the guy and have the money for him,we would have got him ala Rooney and Ronaldo whom deals are wrapped up in a jiffy.

Thats the problem. Do we even know who we want? We get linked with something like 30 players per season and its all speculation.
The World Cup would give us an idea of who to go for cuz we would have just seen how good he is at the biggest stage of this sport.

So what if Chelsea and Arsenal have got there main targets, there is no rush. At the minute im not at all convinced with the Rosicky signing 20-odd goals in 100-odd games for a player than once cost 18 million, maybe he gets lots of assists but I havent checked upon that. Maybe he will be another Hleb.

United can just bide there time and wait till the right man comes along, the last thing I wanna see is some desperation signings.

I don't wanna see desperation signings either, but i do want to see signings. Even if Smith has recovered for the start of the season we still need a better option for a holding midfielder at the very least.

lol such sarcasm...

We've just sold out a 75k stadium for next season and signed the biggest shirt sponsorship on football history so dont kid yaself that the money will be out of the glazer pockets.

I will say though that a year down the line not much has changed under the glazer regime, although it wasnt the first few years we we're worried about...

Hearing rumours we've sold Mikel to Chelski for £10m. From 'family in Nigeria' so probably a bit of bs, but if it's true I say its good value. Is he in the nigerian squad for the WC?

No what I expect and sure many other united fans expect is that its about time now the manager found his target and step up the pace to sign him, I think its pretty poor if he has no idea what player he wants.

I also dont believe SAF puts the club first, History has shown he puts himself first, then the club. Lets be honest, the man thinks he owns the club and thinks he is bigger than the club. Infact this is true,SAF is Man Utd, he is untouchable in many people's eyes and thats dangerous. When we are really going downhill as a club cuz of this man, who is going to be there to stand up to him and say to him its time to step down. I wont go into any more cuz Its long and this isnt the thread to be talking about United. Plus Ive listed many examples of the mistakes this man has made through poor man management or just lack of judgement.

sorry alucard and fair enough its your opinion, what your basing this on I dont know but for want of a better word your talking bollocks, everything you say is subjective there is little or no fact just opinion.

All you have to do is look at the club when SAF took over and look at it now, okay we havent been close to the title in the last few years but thats cos a better team has come to the front, if you cant except that and instead blame SAF then there really is no point...

totall sarcasm, i was aiming that post at ninja, who doesnt like americans... but regardless, dont kid yourself in thinking that the money isn't out of the glazers pockets(IT CERTAINLY IS), if they wanted too they could take that money and run... they dont have to buy anyone.... they own the team...

Spot on. You can never tell from a big tournament who is going to be good for you.
Look at Toto Scillachi, Karel Poborsky, Mustapha Hadji, etc. Great in the big toutnament but not that good domestically. If we haven't got out targets lined up ready then I despair for next season. The only reason to wait until after the world cup is in case they get a bad injury.

lol theres no way they are gonna take the money and run, they owe 3/4's of a billion dollars, trust me someones gonna want that money back.

Yes the money is out of their pockets (cos we put it there) and yes as with anyone who owns a team, they dont have to do anything they dont want, but what you suggested would be the pinacle of stupidity.

You seem to take any criticism of the glazers pretty personal dude, whats up with that, is it an american thing?

I think we just going to have to agree to disasgree cuz you dont see my point and I dont see your point.

I dont see how you can blame chelsea for our failures in the premiership and in europe. This season we failed to make it past the group stages in the CL and that wasnt cuz a better team was there.

I know SAF has done a fantasic job for united but there comes a time when you have to put things into perspective and look to where we are heading and how we have progresse in the last few seasons, not how far he has bought us since the premership began. Im all up for him to take us into next season, but one more season like this and the last then I think he should go. The way he goes about transfers isnt very good either and is one of the reasons why we end up missing out on so many good players.

This season wasn't that bad. We had a good points tally at the end. Chelsea are exceptional and even with our 90's team it would have been difficult to keep up with them. Champs league was bad though. I still think we can be better next year, but we'll need to be incredible to actually win the league.

its not about blaming chelsea, after being at the top for over a decade we had to give up top spot sooner or later, same with europe, we qualified for 9 straight seasons, there was always gonna be that one year we didnt.

its easy to blame SAF but there is alot more to it. It would have been easy for SAF to leave when his "fledglings" team all aged and went past their sell by date, but no he stayed and tried to rebuild, bringing in the best british player for over 20 years, how can you not respect that.

Sigh. So do I. A lil Djembax2 potential. Fantastic. Here's to hoping Giggs and Scholes are fit all of next season, oh and that they don't age at all. Or smile the wrong way towards Fergie ;)

Well they both are linked as replacements for Diarra.

Still think Diarra will play for us as to be honest Real are in a mess!

Yes, Real are in a mess but if a player has a choice between Madrid and Manchester it's very likely they'll be heading towards sunny Spain. You mancs missed out on Ballack you cant make the same mistake with Diarra or Riquelme for that matter, there's just no quality in the middle and Slur Alex will be sadly mistaken if he thinks he can rely on Giggs and Scholes.

vann thats my point, they could pay off the debts for one, or anything they want.... including running off with it... i dont understand how that would be the pinnacle of stupidity to take your profits and put it in your pocket, united havent bought any players, yet as you said, you already have sold out the new stadium, so who is stupid, owners who havent had a team win the league in 4 years(and make millions), or fans who keep spending money on a team who havent won the prem in 4 years(spending millions)... you tell me? I think the whole hype and propaganda that the united fans spread when glazer was set to takeover the club, was partially just anti-american sentiment... and not based on fact.. so i like to defend in a way cause i do somewhat take it personally.. do you really think banks would loan out 700 million dollars to someone and not expect to get that money back... no way in hell. The glazers have a ton of money and assets to mroe then cover the money they borrowed, so i dont know what the big fuss was about... hell i dont think most people realize that the NFL is the single(by far) money making sport enterprise in the history of man, there profits are astouding for every team, including glazers.. if he sold the bucs it would more then cover the money he borrowed to buy united, i just cant fathom how the fans dont understand this, yet a bank did...

Glazer purchased the Bucs, then one of the losingest franchises in major sports, for a record price of $192 million in 1995. In the 11 years since Glazer took control, the Bucs have won nearly 55 percent of their games, made the playoffs six times and won the franchise's first Super Bowl.

In 2005, Forbes estimated the Bucs' worth at $877 million. The same issue placed Glazer's net worth at about $1.3 billion.

Last year, Glazer took his sports empire global after his controversial stock takeover of Manchester United, the world-famous soccer club from England's Premier League. The family paid a reported $1.47 billion for that team.

note the estimated worth $877, it would sell for far more, also look at the 700 million dollar profit he has had so far on the bucs.... talk about return on investment...

We can kiss our season good bye if thats the type of players we are looking to sign. who the fuck is Makoun, I swear we never hear of these players until the United scouts find them. I think they smoke majuriuna while looking at these players and think to themselve that they are world class. I dont know what they saw in Bellion, Djemba when they saw them play cuz they are the shittest players ever to grace the premiership.

While chelsea and arsenal buy the likes of Ballack,Rosicky,Shevchenko and Carlos, we are looking at Zokora and Makoun.
