Well as most of the resident ABU's on this board would have you believe, despite being one of chepeast clubs to follow in the top flight, we are money grabbing so and so's who can often be found round Stretford Arndale robbing old ladies and forcing people at gun point to buy replica kits.
But as usual they are talking bollocks.
Manchester United have released the following statement regarding Northampton Town FA Cup ticket prices:
"The Club have been aware for some time of the concerns of loyal fans who travel to away games and find that ticket prices have been raised because Manchester United are the opposition. While the club understands the rationale of Northampton Town in doubling their ticket prices for the upcoming Fourth Round FA Cup tie, Manchester United has decided to offer a £10 discount on ticket prices for our fans attending the game.
The discount - which means United supporters wil pay either £15 or £20 for a seat at the Sixfields Stadium - is a one-off gesture enabling both Northampton Town and our own travelling fans to benefit from a fixture which captures the excitement of the FA Cup. The discount, which will not set a precedent for any future games, is seen by both the Club and the Independent Manchester United Supporters Association - which asked Old Trafford to help with the case - as the right way to respond to fans concerns about the Northampton game."
So the club have done the right thing, but Northampton fans are non to pleased about what they are having to pay:
A spokesman for the Northampton Supporters Trust
“We all understand such a plum tie doesn’t come around too often. Cash is desperately needed but I think the loyal fans have been totally overlooked. The prices are not fair for the Northampton fan who watches the side week-in, week-out. Many have followed the club through thick and thin and deserve to be treated better.”
You tell them!!
