and we had a perfectly good goal disallowed

No you didn't, the ref has said it was a clear foul.

Anyway, did you know that the last time an opposition player scored a penalty in the Premiership at OT was 1993!!!

This basically supports the view that is near impossible to get a pen at Old Trafford. The ref has bottled it again, he said he was too far away which I can accept, but what is his assistant for? He didn't even bother to go over and ask him about it.

Refs are scared to give pens at OT and that was clear to see for everyone yesterday.

Scoring a Pen and getting a pen is different. Didnt Boro get a pen in 97 or something? I cant remember the year but all the Man Yoo players surrounded the ref and chased him round the pitch. Surely that was the last penalty at OT.

The last pen I remember getting awarded at OT was in 2002 against Blackburn when Ricardo brought someone down, not sure if they scored it or not. Still two years is a very long time.

We played pretty poor yesterday, I didnt think either teams deserved the win so im happy with the point.

Gonna have to improve if we're to defend our Trophy.

Defensivley we looked good, going forward is the one area we're struggling, and I never thought i'd say that about a United team.

There have been three penaltys awarded to opponents at OT in 11 years and they were all saved. Juninho for Boro in 2000, Izzet for Leicester in 2001 and David Dunn for Blackburn in 2003. No penalty against Manutd at OT in 7 years.

And when it finally happened they all went mad.

It was a poor game yesterday, with both United and Newcastle giving the ball away too easy, the toons had a penalty-decision, not awarded in their favour (I personally think Shearer was going nowhere and the ball flew out of play, but hey, I`m a Red Devil) and we had a goal disallowed so basically both teams shared the spoils - which was the right thing at the end of the day. Newcastle were stubborn in the 2nd half, and we were crap going forward.

But, at the end of the day . . .

1. Champions (Manchester United in case you forgot)

The ref admitted that it was a pen but he also said that he was right to disallow the goal. This is after he has seen the incidents again on TV. Therefore Newcastle were robbed, anyone else but a red tinted glasses wearing man utd fan can see that.

The beauty of football is these arguments, though. Dirkin was shit yesterday, he didn`t know what decisions he was making himself. But, there are games when players like Pires dive in the box, get a penalty, and rob the opposition of their points. Football. Bloody hell (Sir Alex after the 2-1 win over B.Munich, Champions League final, 1999).

Butatista your better just leaving these Man Utd fans, because they always come out with the same shite all the time.

Zico can`t figure out whether he`s a Gooner, supports Aberdeen or River Plate yet - he`ll wait to see which one of the 3 wins something this season.

Thats some feckin' nerve , Gooners calling us cheats, look at the opta stats we are the cleanest side in the premiership, that may have some thing to do with us not conceding penallties, and the fact that our centre halves can actually play football unlike that neanderthal ape like monstrosity at the highbury library. After saying all that yesterdays was a stick on pen, and should have been given, as should silvestre's goal.

Dont stress it mate, fuck em, arsenal are one of the dirtiest teams in Prem history and Viera IS the dirtiest player to ever play in the Prem.

All in all yesterday was a fair result, we've been tremendous at home for along time so a draw against a top six side isnt as bad as it sounds.

Some good points there, brother.

Alot of, or should I say more than usual, bad press around our club at the mo, alot of it im not suprised.

More bad news is that Ole isnt ready for the reserve game he was supposed to play this week and he'll be given another week.

Anyone see the story of the plane with man city's directors, at the weekend??

Manchester City's board of directors escaped unhurt when an engine blew up on the plane that was taking them home from a match in Portsmouth on Saturday. Ten minutes into the flight, the pilot was forced into an emergency landing at Farnborough Airport in Hampshire.

"It was terrifying. I was frightened to death. We all consider ourselves lucky to be alive," City chairman John Wardle told the Manchester Evening News.

Hhhmmm wonder if this will stop their sick chants towards us, lfc supporters changed their tune after a disaster, lets see if City will do the same.

Most of the Premiership clubs use planes, coach journeys are so long, and drawn out the players get tired (God knows how, they only have to lay back and sleep!) For example, a plane from Manchester - London would take about 30-45 mins, but a coach would take 4 hours! Sometimes the players use hotels (as all Newcastle fans would know) and get women in their hotel rooms the night before. (Whether the woman agrees to sleep with the player or not, he won`t take no for an answer, innit Titus Bramble, you sicko.)

Well it looks as though Fergie's Class of 92' is breaking up now, first Becks no Nicky Butt, with the lack of 1st team action and the influx of young midfield talent breaking thru he feels as though his chances of playing in Euro 2004 are looking pretty slim.

I've never been a big fan of the Gorton Gasher but im sure he'll do well where ever he goes. He's done a good job for the club and has a medal haul that most players can only dream of, and I for one will give him a good reception on his eventual return to OT.

After Sundays game at OT the SUN, Radio Five Live and various ABUs got themselves in a frenzy about Ruel Fox being the last person to score a penalty against us in the league at home - neglecting the fact that two players have missed and there have been countless ones given in Europe when sides tend to attack us more at OT in European competition, Ruel Fox has been questioned by all manner of news organisations.

Nice to see he hasn't risen to the bait and hits the nail right on the head, or penalty spot

“What people also forget is that it is not that often opponents have the opportunity to win a penalty at Old Trafford. How often do you see a visiting player in control of the ball in the Manchester United area? They are so good they simply don’t allow themselves to get into the position where they might give away a penalty.”

Well ive been saying this for awhile but as usual with ABU's common sense or logic is wasted and they'd rather jump on a bandwagon, no matter whose driving.

Some intersesting comments have come out from Manchesters resident "Incredible Le Sulk" it seems as though young Nic isnt too happy about his progress while playing for Manchesters 2nd team.

First off his take on the Saha saga:

“I feel sorry for Louis. I think going to Manchester United was an important opportunity for him and now it looks as if it has gone. Manchester United are the best club in the world and if he wants to become a better player then really he has to take this opportunity. He would be at a club where he would be learning from better players and performing against the very best in the Champions League. Louis has already done brilliantly for Fulham. He has scored lots of goals and, if he has the chance to move on from there, he should take it. Why not? Opportunities like this come around only once in a player’s career. I don’t think it is about the money for him. I think he just wants to play with players who are champions and to learn from them. Any player who has this chance would take it and Louis is no different. When I was at Arsenal, I had done well for them. When the chance came to go to Real Madrid, I felt at the time that I had to go. People said a lot of things about me. But there are not many players who would not accept an invitation to play for Real Madrid. They are also a massive club.”

Did he say massive? :) Cant see the moody blues being happy about their best player touting us as "the beat club in the world" (and he's played at Madrid). At least he's no bitter.....

Or is he??

Cos he doesnt sound too happy:

“With Keegan, we get on well. That is all. But I have not made any progress. I feel better than I was at Arsenal. But I was already like that when I arrived at City. I have no reason to envy the so-called best strikers in England. I am simply not in a team that allows me to shine. I was 19 at Arsenal and you saw what I did there. I want to be at a great club, to turn out with great players in England or elsewhere. I want the place of a real striker. At City, I am more of a midfielder. Someone like Van Nistelrooy always has two or three balls in the box that he can put in the net with the side of his foot. I have to make my goals for myself. I get the ball and set off with it from deep. Van Nistelrooy is superbly good and scores 30 or 40 goals a season. But you also have to see the players he has behind him and who do all the work.”

Hhhmmm is someone trying to get transfered ;) :D

Speaking of transfers, the sun, with obvious space to spare, throw in yet another Larsson rumour:

HENRIK LARSSON will be the best Bosman the game has EVER seen — and he could yet follow Liam Miller out of the Parkhead exit door to Manchester United.

That’s the sneaking suspicion amidst the envious agents watching Dutch Mr Fixit Rob Jansen broker the footballing future of Celtic’s Magnificent Seven.

The lure of Spain beckons for the talismanic Swede when he quits Scotland this summer — with Real Betis emerging as new front-runners.

But a SunSport survey of three of our top agents revealed that the insider dealers believe we may never see a switch like this again when a prize asset who can’t stop scoring goes for NOTHING — with his club’s blessing.

Former Rangers striker Gordon Smith can’t help but wonder if Sir Alex Ferguson is mulling over a second Celtic swoop after the shock capture of Republic of Ireland midfielder Miller on a pre-contract.

He said: “This is an exceptional case. You can argue about his age but Gabriel Batistuta was close to this mark when he went for £15million.

“I have a vision in my mind that if Manchester United are snapping up Liam Miller then they must be considering Larsson. I firmly believe that.

“I cannot think Sir Alex Ferguson would let that sort of opportunity go by.

“Yes, I know they have bid for Louis Saha at Fulham and they want one in now but Larsson for free in the summer? Too good to let it slip past.”

Still no number two for Fergie:

Vasquez turns down United approach

REAL Valladolid boss Fernando Vasquez has turned down a fresh approach from Sir Alex Ferguson to become his Old Trafford assistant.

Vasquez initially rejected Ferguson's offer to succeed Carlos Queiroz during the summer and confirmed the long-serving Red Devils chief has attempted to lure him to England again.

"Manchester United have renewed their interest but I cannot suddenly abandon the project I have started at Valladolid," he told www.skysports.com "I am a man of ethics and principles and I only leave a club if the board gets rid of me.

"When Manchester United call you it is difficult to say no because they are one of the best clubs in the world in all senses.

"But the same thing happened last summer, when I had already closed a contract with Valladolid. I know they understood but it surprised a lot of people."

Ferguson has been operating without a recognised assistant since Queiroz took up an unmissable offer to coach Real Madrid during the summer.

Former United midfielder Mike Phelan stepped into the breach on a temporary basis and has impressed Ferguson in the six months he has been doing the job.

However, Ferguson knows he needs an extra body in his coaching team and, after the success of Queiroz in the role, is clearly looking abroad.

"It is something we are addressing on a daily basis and I am looking to do something quite quickly," Ferguson told MUTV.

"We had someone in mind before Christmas but he decided to stay where he was.

"Mike Phelan has been fantastic as first-team coach but we need that extra body."

Im not sure whether our football has been so bad because of lack of direction/ideas from the backroom staff or change in players/style.

I want to see an improvement in the 2nd half but ive got a feeling we wont see the "old" United till at least next season :l

Looks like Nicky Butts off, hope he goes somewhere decent. Madrid could do with a defensive mid, hes better than the options they have at the moment.

Errrrr not sure he's quite upto Madrid standards, I think its gonna be Birmingham, Spurs or Boro, something along those lines, he's be good for Spurs cos they have a pretty weak midfield IMO.

It could even be the man city, urban legend in manchester has it that Butt has a city tattoo, and where he's from is a big blue area so, ya never know, maybe Butt and a couple mill for Anelka ;)

He's good enough for their defensive mid position, who else have they got? Either Cambiasso or Guti. And Guti prefers playing in a striking/attacking midfield role. I wasn't seriously suggesting it, just pointing out they need cover in this area since selling their whole team in the summer!

Yeah but can you see a little ginger lad from gorton fitting in with the "galaticos" :)

For any Supporters in the manchester area, there's a game on tonite that will be worth watching and sshould be a decent gate for a youth game.

The latest crop of junior talent to roll off United's production line gets its chance to impress Ferguson at Old Trafford tonight when the United manager will be among the crowd for the eye-catching fourth-round Youth Cup tie with Manchester cITY.

"Manchester United has always placed great importance on young players," said Ferguson.

"Matt Busby started it and as long as I am here it won't change. The great beauty about this club is that we give young players a chance. If we get to the level we expect them to reach, it is all there for them. The youth team we have here at the moment has great potential and I believe we are still getting through the talent I want."

"It should be an exciting game and hopefully we will get a good crowd," he said.

MUTV’s coverage starts at 7pm with kick-off at 7:30pm.

If you dont get chance to go to OT then I recomend it, you'll be able to pay at the gate and it wont be much money.

The Saha saga rumbles on:

From the M.E.N:

MANCHESTER United are set to make a new, improved offer for Louis Saha, according to the striker's agent.

Fulham manager Chris Coleman and chairman Mohamed al Fayed have been united in insisting that Saha will not be leaving the Cottagers.

But the Frenchman’s agent Branko Stoic, who Coleman claims has been instrumental in unsettling the player, insists that United are about to make a renewed bid.

"Negotiations are very hard. A new bid is coming, superior to the previous one," he said.

"Sir Alex Ferguson did not give up on Louis Saha. I believe the transfer will go ahead during this week."

Experience

Stoic also hit back at Coleman, claiming a more experienced manager would have handled the situation better.

"He is a manager for the first time and doesn't know what he is speaking about," he said.

"It is just a question of price - will Saha stay for six months or leave in the next couple of days? Fulham asked for £12m and that is too high.

"I brought him to London for £2m. Fulham can make a profit of £8m."
