Bayern warn Ballack

Michael Ballack's reluctance to compromise on the terms of his new contract with Bayern Munich could pave the way to a summer move.Ballack has been linked with the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid this summer, with just a year left on his current deal.Although the player has insisted that he is happy to stay with the German giants, his failure to agree terms on a new contract have perturbed manager Uli Hoeness. "It can always come to the point where we have to say 'no'," said Hoeness. The suggestion, clearly aimed at prompting the player to shape up, will nevertheless rekindle rumours of a move away.Premiership side Manchester United have been suggested as a likely destination - but they may also baulk at wage demands rumoured to be in the realm of £6.9 million a year plus add-ons.Real remain an option, although claims that they have already agreed a deal with the player have been thrown out by the player's agent.

Just the story I've been waiting for...I cant wait for this riddle to be solved within this week.I dont think Real will sign him,as they already had bought P.Garcia to back up Gravesen.C'mon Ballack, you know what to do...We're playing Beijing Hyundai in 5 hours time. This time,we'll see a proper team out there,we can only make 6 substitutes this time and we should see some of the lads playin the full 90 mins.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

yeah, hope they will play the CL line-up with a decent squad...as this Beijing team (i think it's the same team) only lost to Real due to a penalty (2-3)...they were leading twice. so hope that this might be a nice game!!!

as for the news, great find phrase!!!!!! hope it's true!!!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

No quotes from the Ballack again though! and i wouldnt take anything from madrid result they got thumped yesterday by a even worse team!

See youve turned down bids from Celta Vigo and Besiktas for Kleberson i wonder how much your expecting to get? What do you all make of the news the P.Neville can go for 3m?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Anyone watching the match? I'm following it on the manutd webboard, pretty entertaining way of getting commentary! Apparently Ruud is not only missing chances, he's also being really agressive towards the beijing team, he clearly needs a goal badly.

Scratch that, he just got taken off before fighting...not good at all...

Can't believe SAF would sell Phil before Kleb. Just stupid. Phil has served for years, is reliable season before last he did pretty well. Hopefully its all just the media.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Dont worry about that mate ill be watching the Scousers anyway! ;)

Man United vs Beijing Hyundai

First XI: Van Der Sar(Steele,75th),Ferdinand,Silvestre,G.Neville(P.Neville,45th),O'Shea(Richardson,60th),Smith,Fletcher,Scholes(Ronaldo,45th),Park(Giggs,60th),Rooney & v.Nistelrooy(Dong,75th)

Formation : 4-3-3

First XI

We fielded the strongest side ever in this 4th pre-season game.We looked solid in this first half with Van Der Sar only tested 3 times if I remembered correctly. The backline was solid and aside from O'Shea playin at Heinze's position,it was our first choice backline. The midfield trio looked more mobile.Smith as predicted, played in Keano's role again. He was shown the yellow card for a late tackle but nothing rash whatsoever.Fletcher had an average 45 minutes but supplied the assist for Scholes first goal,a late run and a headed finish in the 42nd minute.Scholes then went on to score again in the 44th minute again with his trademark late run in the box.A deep cross from G.Neville for v.Nistelrooy who half volleyed it into Scholes path for the midfielder to finish it from close range.Park Ji-Sung was our most industrious player ever, running everywhere, harrasing the opponents. He is one play who isnt afraid of getting stuck in,great stuff from the Korean.Funny how he was the one getting the boos from the Chinese crowd.I guess the Chinese people does have something against the Koreans.Ironically, this Beijing side is sponsored by Hyundai,Korea's leading car company.Rooney was deployed as a winger and had no shots on goal at all but looked a threat as usual when on the ball.He tried some through balls but no one was at the end of them.Ruud had a few chances but none really look as if he was going to score them.He was man marked by this foreigner playin for the Beijing side.
First half,Man United 3,Beijing Hyundai 0.
Second Half:

Changes were made and we reverted back to the orthodox 4-4-2.Ronaldo certainly looks fit and was at his best as he supplied the cross for Park Ji-Sung's first ever goal for United. The nippy midfielder headed the ball into the net unchallanged.Smith and Fletcher were retained to hold the midfield together and I thought they did a reasonable job.Richardson again looked superb in attacking, showing explosive pace down that left flank, its his defending that will be questioned when the season starts. There were some scuffles involving players from both sides.Ruud was a victim of a reckless tackle from the back and it sparked an outburst from both sides. The play was boiling up as Phil Nev and Silvestre was futher booked.Rooney also had a go a few times at the opponents while Ronaldo received a few "fortune cookies" in return.Dong FungZhou was given a chance in the last 15 minutes but showed little to impress his home crowd.I'd prefer to see Saha instead of Dong but this being a publicity PR move, the french man should be given a chance in Japan. No more goals as we ran out 3-nil winners in Beijing.

Final score: Man United 3, Beijing Hyundai 0.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

We just have to keep the ball rolling and build up momentum. Ruud needs a goal in his next game to keep up the confidence level. Smith is looking good in midfield and Park is slowly fitting in too. The only bad thing so far is that I Rooney hasnt been so impressive in pre-season. Once that changes, everything will be perfect.

So far so good.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

I've heard that the match was pretty brutal.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

In what way?
Physically or you mean the performance?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

They are certainly not brutal. Its the most competetive pre-season match for Man Utd so far.Beijing Hyundai is already half way thru their season and they are certainly match fit.As usual, you will want to step your game up against big teams like ourselves. There are however a few tackles that shouldnt have been made in a friendly match though.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Wow I just saw the challenge that got Ruud so pissed off...I would have killed the guy! Wtf was he thinking in a friendly? That could very easily have snapped ruud's leg in two. Raised, jumping studs up to about 8 inches up the shin. Unbelieveably nasty.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

So now we have 2 more games then we're off to Antwerp for another friendly and then (I think) the CL qualifier. I wonder if Heinze will play that game.

And I hope Rooney plays up front a bit more. Unless Sir Alex is planning to turn him into Scholes' replacement like how Smith is in Keano's role.
But then we desperately need some strikers.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

I'm beginning to see the need for Owen, because it looks like team o the future will be:

---------Howard/Someone----------
-???--Spector--Pique--Heinze/Richardson?
-----------Smith-----------------
-------Fletcher------------------
-Ronaldo-------------------Park----
-----------------Rooney------------
-------------Rossi(?)-------------

Now that's a lineup with potential...but not much backup. I think SAF is set on making a team that will outlast him, but he needs to remmeber the need for experience and mid-career players. Ballack and Owen would do nicely. ;)

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

beachryan..that rightback position is questionable rite?.I feel the same way..whos next after Neville.I'd put Spector there and partner O'Shea with Pique in the middle but Spector isnt really a fullback by nature.Phil Bardsley looks promising but isnt exactly impressive on the other hand. The future of Man United's attack..3R's Diamond Formation...Rooney,Rossi and Ronaldo.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Are bardsley/spector decent at attack? Gary's overlaps are great, and his crossing is actually some of the best at United. Plus he (almost) always gets back well. Real unsung hero of United. Sad if Phil leaves, not sure how taht would affect gary, since they've probably been playing on the same team their entire lives.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

I dont think Phil will leave.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

He should leave but after seeing Nicky Butt's sudden decline in footballing fortunes would he want to go?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

I just think Gary will have a major influence on his decision and Phil is still a useful member of the squad.
And I doubt Phil can do well at another team. One of the reasons why Phil plays well in midfield is because both Nevilles like to double team the opposisiton. If you watched any of the Arsenal games where Phil played, him and Gary beat the hell out of Reyes.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Isnt it already done? (Davids to Spurs)

As the Neville diaries on Football 365 would say, he'll probably chinese burn him until he stays.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

But Davids is pretty old so why would you want him?
Ballack is a few years younger than him.

:) Turns out the bids you recieved for Klebo were only 1m no wonder you turned them down, but why did you let him speak to Celta?

Gill ponders United popularity

David Gill has promised to investigate why less than 25,000 fans turned up for the second match of their Far East tour, but the Manchester United chief executive insists it is not a sign the Red Devils' popularity is beginning to wane.

Although United's four-match, three-country expedition has been received far more positively than the Real Madrid outfit they have followed round Asia - and is expected to net them around £3m - there have not been the same large crowds and frenzied welcome they received on their last trip to the continent four years ago.

At a time when Europe's footballing giants are trying to devise strategies to maximise income from an Asian public that appeared to have an insatiable appetite for the game, there are some indications of a major fall in interest.

Real, whose tour ended on a high note with a 3-1 triumph over Jubilo Iwata on Wednesday evening, have been castigated for their aloofness and general lack of application on and off the pitch.

No such allegation could be levelled against United, who have wasted no opportunity to press the flesh at all levels, sometimes three or four times a day, and at least turning up to the National Stadium on Wednesday night for what had been billed as a training session when none had actually been built into the schedule.

Players are still surrounded by autograph hunters and fans gather at airports and outside team hotels to get a glimpse of their heroes, but if the hard evidence of the last five days is to be believed, Gill has plenty of work to do if he is to squeeze the extra profits new owner Malcolm Glazer demands.

Saturday's gate for the 2-0 win over Hong Kong, while reasonable, was 8,000 down on their last visit, while the Workers Stadium was not even a third full for the Red Devils' 3-0 triumph against Beijing Hyundai on Tuesday night.

"Clearly, last night's crowd was disappointing," admitted Gill.

"There are various factors behind that, which will need to be investigated.

"But we were very pleased with the crowd in Hong Kong and we are confident there will be good crowds for our final two matches.

"What is happening on this tour does not lead us to the conclusion popularity in us is waning."

United's commercial team have launched various ventures already over the last few days, including a dedicated Chinese-language website and a membership scheme specific to Asian-based supporters.

Gill could also argue their major fan base remains in the south-east of the region, in Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia, and that 40,000 tickets for Thursday's encounter with Kashima Antlers have already been sold, guaranteeing a gate double that of the J-League leaders' current average.

But given the number of clubs who now head to the Far East on an annual basis, it would be no surprise if supporters were becoming more discerning about who to watch, particularly when, as in China's case, ticket prices are twice the weekly wage.

Yet Gill remains confident enough in the Old Trafford outfit's drawing power to believe they will be immune from any significant downturn in support.

And though he did not mention Real Madrid by name, he drew parallels with United's approach to the accusations which have been levelled against the Spanish giants over the past week.

"I can't speak for other clubs, I only read what I see," he said.

"But we do not just come into these countries, take the money and leave.

"We meet with officials, we meet with the fans and we meet with local people to try and encourage football development in the region.

"We don't see a weakening of demand from the clubs who play us, the fans who come to watch us and the sponsors who want to get involved. We are comfortable with the situation as it is."

Sounds like Madrid havnt done you any favours!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Pre Match Analysis.

Kashima Antlers VS Man United.

This should be another step up in terms of challenge for United in their Asian tour.Kashima Antlers, one of J-League's biggest club aims to halt United in their progress. With seasoned national players like M.Motoyama, M.Ogasawara, A.Narahashi and top striker T.Suzuki, the Antlers are by no means pushovers.I think we should see United debuting their new blue away jersey in this game as the Antlers default colours are red top with white shorts and red socks.Japan is a lot cooler than China so,the weather will be a lot easier to adapt to for the players.United again should field their strongest sides with maybe one or two changes being made.I'd like to see Saha,Rossi,Pique and Jones get some action in this one, particularly Saha.Ruud hasnt scored in his last 120 minutes or so thus,if he dosent get one again in the first 45,its only right to give Saha a chance as he has been in magnificient shape.Rooney also hadnt got off the mark yet while Rossi had netted twice already, one for one substitution in that one too.I predict a comfortable 3 nil victory for us tomorrow but we shall see.Cheers~
