Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

RUmors over here say Figo is set for Inter, if United were still linked, then thats another target stolen.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Hold on to your horses lads,United hope to have talks with Michael Ballack when they visit Asia, next week. Our officials will meet up with the midfielder in Tokyo to discuss about an impending transfer.Just heard this news on MUTV yesterday.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Those are rumours. Bayern Munich have a match in the far east when we're gonna be there and people are assuming that a deal is probably gonna be sorted out then.
But we dont know if its the truth. I hope it is.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Do you guys STILL think the Owen thing is on!?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

No.
I'm just hoping its on cuz I think we should sell or loan out Saha (which can possibly happen) and Smith is playing in midfield so we would then have Rooney, Ruud and Owen as our strikers.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Did I miss an official announcement about Obi Mikel? I feel like FIFA should have ruled by now, its been a couple weeks. I'm looking on sports websites for news and can't find anything.

What time is the peterbrough match tonight? Any predictions? I really want Rossi to grab a goal. And I have a weird feeling Smithy will play up front. I don't know why.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Everytime I picture Ole, I remember the commentator saying "AND SOLSKJAER HAS DONE IT!!!" with Ole sliding towards the corner flag...

...Damn it! We need some new memories!

There gonna rule in favour of Obi.

Its a very strange situation but the money that chelsea have been giving him and his family and the money they have promised him has sweetened the deal so it looks like we'll lose out, but after the way he's conducted himself puts doubt in my mind that he's not a player we'd want anyway.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. That man is a legend.Saw "You Are My Solskjaer" on MUTV a few days ago...my gosh, hes a wayyy better finisher than Ruud back in those days.An almost guaranteed at least 15 goals a season.Leathal Finisher.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

I also watch clips of him on MUTV and think if only he still played like that.
I think some fans didnt appreciate him enough.

He's a much classier finisher than Ruud, he also reads the game and links play together alot better than Ruud.

But when it comes to that "predator" instinct inside the box theres non better than Ruud.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

You're right about how he reads the game. Sir Alex says he would probably make the best manager out of all the players currently in the squad.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

and just think, by October (fingers crossed) he'll be sitting on the bench, reading the game, ready to come in and change it...

yeah I really hope we can see him play again!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Phrase/anyone else lucky enough to watch the match on mutv tonight, could u post comments like last time? that was about all I could learn about the game, since I can't seem to listen on mutv.com or anything else. Thanks!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

I'm gonna watch it but the repeat at 10pm.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Just reading updates: 6-0, not bad at all...
Ruud : 3
Ronalod : 2
Rossi : 1 (1 for the first team...mannnnyyyy to come)

Only bad news is the didn't score in the first half. But then, 6 in the second, and 5 in 2 games for RVN...not bad. Would love to watch, that first half must have been frustrating! Can't wait for highlights...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Ruud and Rossi had a great partnership going. The goals were sweet and the passing between them was brilliant. Ronaldo was also having one of his best games with some nices 1-2s with Ruud that made his first goal.
Rossi's goal was inevitable. He played too well to not deserve one.

Between the three, they got 6 goals in 45mins. And its hard to believe that Rooney, Keano and our best back 5 werent on the pitch during that period either.
Plus we still have Park who looks promising, Fletcher who is still getting better and Smith who has now had 2 back to back games in Roy Keane's position and is looking pretty good there.
AND we still have another big signing (Ballack?) to come. Things are looking really good at the moment.

BTW, Rooney captained the team in the first half for those who would like to know.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

What makes you so sure United are making another big name signing? imo the team is filled for this season.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Rossi scored, Remember this name guys :D :D he is so good :D :D

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Cuz the manager confirmed that they will definately sign another player and David Gill said that they're already looking at someone but refused to reveal who he was.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Peterborough FC vs Man United
Final Score: 0-6, v.Nistelrooy(3),Ronaldo(2) & Rossi.

First Half
First XI: van Der Sar,Ferdinand,Pique,Bardsley,Richardson,Kleberson,Jones,Fletcher,
Rooney,Park & Saha. *4-3-3*

This first half team captained by Rooney didnt do much.Sir Alex decided to retain the defence from the Clyde FC game apart from Bardsley coming in for McShane at rightback.Rio lost the boo-boys jeerings eventually after a few touches and Pique seems to play well ahead of Rio in this game too.Richardson was superb in counter attacking from defence but I'm not too sure how he would fare againts teams in the Premiership or even Europe.Bardsley again didnt do much to contribute in attack but was steady in defence. The midfield trio was also retained and David Jones shone in this game.Always wanting the ball, showed his array of passes and tackles well.Fletcher had an OK game but did nothing penetrative.Kleberson looked tired and off colour maybe because of the on-goin transfer talks on him goin to Celta Vigo.Between Klebs and Fletcher, none wanted to be the playmaker in this team and that explains the goalless situation.Park showed a lot of energy just as expected and he did took some pretty nasty clashes and tackles well.A player who opts for that quick short passes instead of goin big.Still has do much more to impress this critic.Rooney was brought in to deliver goals to this team from Clyde FC but he was getting none.Had 3-5 powerful drives from the edge of the box that just gone over the bar but looked less-inspired to play for this team.I'm pretty impressed with Saha after two games. He looks fit as an ox now, hard runnings with pace, power and determination, again was unlucky to score.First half, 0-0.

Second Half
Second XI: Howard,McShane,O'Shea,P.Neville,Eckersley,Scholes,Smith,Giggs,Rossi,
Ronaldo,v.Nistelrooy *4-4-2*

The defence looked shaky for this team but didnt concede a goal and that was important.P.Neville was back like he was never gone.McShane played in his preferred centerback role, not shy in handing out some hard tackles, played well alongside O'Shea. The latter was the one pulling this defence together and played well, had a header that just went over the bar from a corner.Eckersley has to do more to impress me also, good in goin forward but was suspect in defence. The midfield quartet in this team was devastating.Smith played in Keano's role again, passing very well and was better in his positioning in this game.Somehow I felt,Smith was proud of playing in this position, showing signs that he could replace Keano in the future.Scholes continued this great form from the last game.Had a couple of assist if I'm not wrong, dished out brilliant passes for his forwards and looked pretty fit.Ronaldo is back and was brilliant.Someobody from this forum said he looked all beefed up now and I think that person is right. He does looked bigger, suppliments and weights training perhaps? Showed no signs of his injury and his first goal proved that.Recieving a pass from Scholes,he deftly guided it to Ruud with the outside of his right foot, turns and rans to receive the through pass in the box to blast the ball past the keeper, superb 3 man move. His second goal, showed composure and power in finishing.Receiving a long through pass from McShane,Ronaldo was clear in the box,1 on 1 against the keeper.Controlled well, and literally smacked the ball past the keeper,no thinking needed.Giggs somehow looked tired in this one, should have done better with some of his crosses.Rossi played better in this game in his natural position,a second forward. Finally got to see his superb dribbling and control of the ball.Had a great understading with Scholes and Ruud.Layed out some superb slide rule passes to Ruud,Giggs and Ronaldo.A player whom is never too greedy to lay it out to someone else in a better position. His goal was inevitable just as RuneEdge puts it.Blasted the ball past the keeper in a 1 on 1 situation just like Ronaldo.Ruud van Nistelrooy is back and the Premiership has been warned.A hattrick in this one brings his tally to 5 goals in 2 games.First goal, slide rule pass from Rossi, back facing the goal,Ruud controls well, swiveled turn the defender and placed the ball to the keeper's right. His second and third goal showed his predatory instinct at its best, one off a corner and one off a cross from Giggs.Great stuff from the Dutch Master and we should see more goals in the Far East, judging from these two games.Final score 0-6.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

I just read on the Sky Sports website about Smith wearing number 4 in your friendly and playing the Keane role and Ferguson has now come out and said he can see Smith playing that role. Well he hardly lacks aggression to play it!

If he could adapt I think that would be a great move for you guy's and for England. If England could have a holding mid-fielder that can strike a ball if need be it can only be a good thing.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

And the fans would like if Smith gets regular games. Cuz Smith says he's happy to play in any position.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Doesn't Gerrard more or less play holding midfield for england? I can't see him or lampard being usurped anytime soon. But yeah, if Smithy can do it, that would be great, should be an interesting season. Looks like no Ballack though, slightly dissapointing. But if Scholesy is healthy all year then we'll be fine.
Good stuff from Rossi, though Sir Alex talked him down a bit in the interview afterwards, perhaps signaling another year in the reserves. Hope not. Unless we get Owen, who could be a great model to base Rossi's game on.

Hoping also taht Park will play better in Asia, noone has been overwhelmed with him yet it would seem. Thanks again Phrase!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Gerrard runs forward to attack more. Smith didnt even step a foot in the opposition box as fair as I know. He stayed back all the time.
And why do you think we wont get Ballack?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

There was something on manutd.com from the papers saying that he's staying in Germany according to some paper or another. Then again, reading the fcbayern website, he hasn't signed yet, and the coach is getting worried. We'll see. I hope that Fergie isn't so thrilled with smithy in his display against Petersborough that he's scrapping the idea of getting another midfielder. I'm not sure Smith could remain calm all match in the middle of the action. Well calm enough to be useful. But I guess we'll see.

Did he look kean-ish?
