Well he isnt really a proven player so I dont think he'll cost much.
Plus he's from a team that I didnt even know existed.
PSV did go to CL semi-final this year, a big team (champion) in NL and some EPL teams bought some decent players of theirs: Stam, RvN, Robben, Kezman, etc.

In fact, PSV is my favorite in 4 CL semi-finalists :)

PSV has always been home to amazing forwards. Ronaldo, Romario, Ruud, and Gudjohnson are examples.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Ruud to stay??

LOL. I was talking about Mikel then.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Ruud to stay??

We have inquired about Vicente again it seems. Now thats more like it rite lads? Fergie wants his man but Valencia is reluctant and has slapped a 14 mill price tag on him.Quite high for someone who hasnt featured much this season in the La Liga dont you all think, but hey,its Vicente.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Ruud to stay??

imo Park is a better buy, and also because hes cheaper. Vicente is one of those world class players that doesnt seem to put 100% every game. Where as Park, even though he hasnt established himself yet, seems to be playing forever.

Park would also do a better fan favourite than Vicente would.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Ruud to stay??

I kinda agree with you there Milanista on Vicente's commitment.Park is virtually ours I think after South Korea's qualification to Germany next year.We should see an ultimatum from him within a couple of days now.On a side note, most of our boys did well in their respective World Cup duties; Ronaldo and Ruud scored,Gaby Heinze was at his usual rock best against the brasilians and van der Sar was superb in keeping a clean sheet against Finland.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Ruud to stay??

I STILL dont understand why Ronaldo scores to so many goals for Portugal and not for us. He scored 2 in 2 games and his freekick was world class.
Just shows how much potential all our players can have if they were to play at their best for Man Utd.

I believe Cristiano played as a more free and forward role with Portugal and that explains his goals. He got his latest goal off a header from Luis Figo's cross, always knew he's useful with his head.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Ruud to stay??

So would you say its a good idea to give him that sort of role at Man Utd.
Ronaldo did actually say a few months back on MUTV that he prefers to play behind the striker.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Ruud to stay??

have him where scholes was several years ago? imo, scholesy's been restricted to more of a central role nowadays, still has his great first touch, ball sense and long pass accuracy; just missing those great piercing runs down the middle. we need somebody like that again, hopefully ronaldo can fit into that category and we can find him a position like that in our XI

But then we would need another winger.
IMO, we need another player similar to Ronaldo but who plays on the left so that if we're playing a 4-3-3, the two wingers can both roam freely which would not only cover more ground on the pitch but also confuse defenders. Giggs cant do this cuz he sometimes needs to track back and defend.
One of our problems this year (Which Gordon Strachan pointed out on MOTD2) was that Ronaldo likes to switch wings often but what usually happens is that we sometimes get both wingers on the same wing which leaves the opposite wing exposed for the opposition to counter attack from. Portugal never had this problem when Figo and Ronaldo were playing.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Ruud to stay??

I havent really seen him play so I cant judge anything. I hope he can do the job for us.
What position does he play in?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Ruud to stay??

either wing. so i was hoping maybe ronaldo becomes the supporting attacker... hmm im dreaming but here goes nothing:

------------VanDerSar------------
Gary--Ferdy-----Silvestre---Heinze
---------Keane------Scholes-------
----------------------------------
--------------Rooney--------------
------Park---------------Ronaldo--
---------------Ruud---------------

i say this because rooney's got bags of energy so he can go back for defensive duties (plus he's got a wicked biting tackle AND he loves to get stuck in!), and of the four attacking, i think he's got the best outside shot (ronaldo does have a mean shot ... but when does he ever score for us?:( i'm begging he exchanges his portugal form for his united form)

multi-position u mean...

...he is a utility player. On both sides of the wing, right or left back, center mid...I think almost everywhere except as a striker or goalie(he's short,1.76m only) hahaha...He scored in Korea's last game too.We should definitely get him.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Ruud to stay??

Ronaldo plays both as winger and behind the striker at portugal.
Scolari gives him those indications to confuse the defence. And it's effective, it goes from a 4-3-3 to a sudden 4-2-2.
But I don't see that with ManUtd because u already have rooney to play behind RvN.
Fergie needs to get his brain working to take full advantage of the players that play upfront. IMO ManUtd has the best attack players overall. Even better than Arsenal!

Thats very true. Man for man, we probably have the best team in the world but for some reason we dont play like it. Its fair to say that Chelsea were a greater team that us last season but if you compare the teams player for player, we're definately better.
Theres obviously something missing in our team which we dont know. Maybe we need someone in midfield for everything to connect or we may even need a new manager. But the day our team finally clicks together, we'll be unstoppable.

That a very bold statement for a team that hasnt won anything this year! As fro the Scholes thing, the reason for me he doesnt make as many of though trade mark runs is simple its Rooney he plays much deeper therefore taking up space Scholes used to work in!

And its true. Lets start from the strikers. How many teams in the world have 4 strikers as good as Rooney, Ruud, Smith and Saha?
How many midfields have players as good as Giggs, Ronaldo, Keane, Scholes, and cover from players like Fletcher, etc?
And who also has a defence of players like Heinze, Rio, Silvestre, Gary Neville, Brown, O'Shea?
The answer is: not many.
Nearly all of those players are first team internationals and each of them alone have bags of talent but together they dont play as well as one would expect from a team like this.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Ruud to stay??

Shevchenko, Inzaghi, Tomasson, Crespo and soon Gilardino
Gattuso, Kaka, Rui Costa, Seedorf, Ambrosini, Pirlo, Jankulovski, Vogel, Dhorasoo (all but ambrosini and rui (retired) are internationals)
Maldini, Nesta, Cafu, Stam, soon Oddo
Dida.

Imo that's a stronger team, and was proven when they played ;)

But yes United are amongst the best teams on paper... was just showing off.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Ruud to stay??

Well I have to say, the Milan defence looks like the best in the world. (also the oldest ;) )
As for the midfield, everyone has to admit that the Real Madrid midfield looks like the best one. (again getting old ;) )

But anyway, my point is we should be playing a lot better than what we do. Even at our best, its still not as good as what someone would expect from us with the players we have.
We have a lot of young players who are potentially good but fans like us cant wait for players to reach their potential. We need the results right now. Not in about 5 years time when Rooney or Ronaldo is reaching his peak.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Ruud to stay??

It appears we should sign Park Ji Sung within a couple of days now, really glad to know what and if what I was reading on football365 and soccernet was true,we are in pole position to sign Micheal Owen too.Bring on the good news...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Ruud to stay??

I read that this morning too.
Park Ji Sung is as good as ours. But the Owen rumours are getting bigger and bigger up to a point where it even be likely now.
Rooney, Ruud, Saha and Owen with Smith in midfield would be good. We have a lack of good midfielders so I'm sure Smith would like to play there if it helps us out.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Ruud to stay??

I think you mean Robinho joining means Owen leaving. Cuz Robinho is probably gonna join whether anyone likes it or not. Now its up to Owen whether he's stupid enough to stay at Real Madrid.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Ruud to stay??

Why does Ruud have to go if Owen came?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Ruud to stay??

well whos he going to drop? and i doubt Owen is not going to leave one bench to sit on another!
