He isnt the best GK ever but he was a great United player. It could be argued that VDS was a better keeper for united than Schmeichel, I saw both and I know who I would rather have in my team.

I think its difficult to compare GK in that way, is a keeper who plays behind world class midfielders and defenders better than a GK who doesnt and has to make more saves per game?

Personally I prefer VDS over Schmeichel, De Gea has a way to go to match either of them but his improvement over three years is impressive, shot stopping, distribution and all round play are spot on and from what I hear unlike his two esteemed predecessors he is a decent guy.
 
VDS was a great GK too.
But to me Schmeichel is the best ever.

Banks
Preudhomme
Dasaev
Maier
Zoff

What was your all time best GK ?
 
Schmeichel would be greatest in a Man Utd shirt for me. As I'm younger, the best GK i've seen is Kahn, Schmeichel, VDS, Buffon. Never rated Casillas as the greatest tier, but it does seem that Neuer, Cortois and De Gea have a chance to be in that group.
 
Schmeichel was immense for me. I also liked Peruzzi a lot.

Other GKs I liked but not necessarily great were Molina, Martyn, Canizares.

Well, against a rival, it's always good to win. But as LvG has said, there are many problems remaining in the match and he's still not satisfied which is good. Let's hope that the players respond well to him and keep on improving. I'd have a problem if he was very satisfied and wanted them to do more of the same.
 
Pretty bad from van gaal in the 2nd half, completely killed the flow of Uniteds play with unnecessary changes and over fidgeting
 
Great change of play after the break and Fletcher came off. Absolutely shit subs after the red. RvP off who linked brilliantly with Falcao and then leave an absolutely horrid Mata. Wilson for Valencia?. Shitty stuff. Points dropped. At least we're not Dortmund.

P.s.it would be nice to have one of Fellaini, Herrera or Blind for the next game. Getting tired of makeshift defense and midfield.

Mata grabs a goal now and then and is a set piece fiend but I don't think he's good enough for a title challenging team. Looks like Mou called another one right

Another Shaun Wright Phillips?

I am not Mata biggest fan by any stretch but he is a quality player just not a work horse type of player, the type of player Jose has built his previous chelsea teams on.

that sheva situation is a myth. he wasn't jose's first option, which was eto'o and barça didn't sell him, so they bought shevchenko. they say roman was a fan of him. berlusconi was a fan of ronaldinho too. rich owners being fan of cash cow popular footballers, how interesting eh? people got used to say mourinho ruined sheva, but I don't see how.

sheva was 30 when he came to chelsea. he had his share of injuries at milan recently and he wasn't looking like the mighty striker he was. but still he played 51 games(only 10 coming off the bench) in that season(06-07) was cut short due to groin operation at the end. at the beginning of the next season(07-08) mourinho was gone.
 
doing it the hard way I see...Boyd was a country mile offside for their 1st goal. No ranting about it either :SMUG:

I think City moreso. We know realistically we're only capable of fighting it out for a champions league spot whereas city could not have only made up some good ground on chelsea but also put them under some serious pressure for the first time this season.
 
Horrible how there were so many chances just gone to waste. But then it is only the 2nd game these three strikers have played together. Let's see if it will take more time for them to gel.
 
Both Van Persie and Falcao looked tired.
In their normal form it would have been something like 0-3 after 45 minutes.


But what is a litle bit worying from your point of view is that the whole team looked knackered in the second half. The tought that you were playing without your bestl player is frightening. I liked Ashley Young in the first half and Rooney looks like he's at the beginning of asecond career in midfield.

If these players are so tired, don't bring them into training the day after a game. Give them a rest. Tired my ass. You only hear them cry when they don't win. It's embarrassing. So what if they aren't at their physical peak. Games are often better when players are more tired as space opens up and more chances are created. They ache a little but so what?! They are still capable of passing a bloody ball... well most of them are. Bored out of my mind listening to this tired lark every year.
 
Im shocked to hear Rooney having a moan about it...really? Manutd play less games then most clubs this season and they skip practice and day off when most clubs train. We all know its mind games and political pr taking the piss.

Why are you always so angry, no matter the thread?
 
I think the point being made was the fact they would have played 2 full games within 48 hours which no matter how much you earn can take a toll on your body

Not angry. Just fed up of people talking absolute crap. Read it in an angry tone off you wish. Makes no odds took me. I'm a pretty placid guy but when I don't agree with something I'm angry? Every person who has a different thought process on something is angry with your way of thinking. Nah. You don't know me fella. If you did, you wouldn't think I'm angry. Far from it. This is the internet my friend and you can interpret things how the hell you want. Sometimes wrongly. Being tired playing a few games is crap though.

It was a genuine question. Almost every time I see you posting I get the impression you're angry from your wording. That's all.
 
It is said every year that Christmas games and Christmas rests other leagues get is going to harm players. While I am torn because I love Christmas games as it provides a great festive atmosphere, but also feel that they do deserve more rests as the games are very very close to each other.

With that said, I think that LvG should've done more rotation as players are tired, but with all the injury this year, its almost impossible to do rotation apart from fielding a group of academy players.
