Manchester United Thread

I know it doesn't make sense with the players we need but I'll be disappointed if we don't atleast throw our hat into the James Rodriguez auction.

If he moves this summer, admittedly we'd have close to zero chance of getting him, however if he doesn't and its next summer hopefully we'll be back in CL and our full status will be restored. He's a superstar.

No chance in hell, even with CL that we'd get Rodriguez.

He's a Real 'fan' (i.e. if they come to sign him, he'll go there and claim he's loved them since he was a child).

If he wanted to come to England then I bet only Chelsea because of the London aura, or maybe City due to offering him the world in wages.

Rodriguez very clearly said that he will not play in England. He doesn't like the physicality of English football. He says Spanish football suits him better.

New kit is unveiled, but IMO the chevy's logo looks not good enough..
this is a comparison the kit with and without chevy's logo.

Meh, I think it looks fine. Those sponsorships are more important than ever with no CL football.

Fair enough about Rodriguez, in that case I hope Real push that deal through now so Di Maria can be made available.

Seriously need a wide player IMO especially if Nani departs in a deal for Vidal.

Fergie trolling us:

Sir Alex Ferguson on BBC 5live: "The club is working on bringing a familiar face back to OT next season."

Phelan?!

The return of Bebe surely?!

Serious note two posts above which excite, as far as im aware theres still no break through regarding Vidal, Juventus won't sell easily and Bayern are sniffing too possibly.

The other one could be anything except the possible few extremely exciting ideas that pop into peoples heads.

RVN joining the coaching staff?

Looking forward to preseason tour. Some 'forgotten' players, and some new. Will be great to see, in particular:

Ando, Herrera, Henriquez, Bebe, Zaha, Shaw and Powell.

Could line up with this exotic mix:

--------------Johnstone-------------
-Jones--Smalling--Evans-----Shaw----
---------Anderson--Herrera----------
---------------Powell---------------
---Zaha-------------------Bebe------
--------------Henriquez-------------

If it wouldn't be for that stupid 3rd place game we d have Van Gaal start right now. Hopefully we ll at least be able to wrap up another transfer now that he probably doesn't give a shit about the WC anymore. Can't wait for regular season to pick back up!! :APPLAUD:

Yeah, I doubt LVG gives a single fuck about that 3rd place play-off so 80% of his focus will already be at United now.

I hope we can wrap up at least one more deal before we play our first game in USA.

It'll be a fascinating season either way. It's going to be a balance of the following:

The good:
- Van Gaal is proven, confident and has to be better than Moyes
- I think both Shaw and Herrera are good signings and will immediately improve the first XI
- Moyes is gone, hopefully lifting his gloom at OT
- We have some genuinely good youth players, Wilson, Powell and possibly even Lingaard will surprise some people this season
- Carrick, Fellaini, RVP, Hernandez and Nani HAVE to have better seasons than last year. All massively underperformed given their proven ability
- Bebe

The bad:
- We have lost Giggs, Rio, Vida and most likely Evra. That is an almost unprecedented amount of experience and trophies to lose in a single summer. Any team will struggle with that loss
- Our defence is now just Rafael, Smalling, Jones, Evans, Shaw. 4 sick-notes and a kid. Poor De Gea.
- RVP still seems out of sorts to me. Had about 90 minutes of good football at the WC, but I'm not sure how good he'll be this year
- Our biggest strength is all focused on the same area (De Gea aside): How does anyone fit Rooney, Mata, Kagawa, RVP, Welbeck and Janujaz in?
- Our ego is gone. We need a good start to get that going again. Good news is that the mysterious fixture computer appears to love narrative, in its completely random in no way influenced by the desire for excitement way.

The ugly:

too early to start talking how the season goes, lots of transfer activity to come which will likely change a lot.

Fellaini will not stay, Van Gaal doesn't want him.
IMO Fellaini played a great World Cup. According to the stats, he was the Belgian player who covered most ground.

It seems there were some issues with Januzaj however. There were complaints that he wasn't the most fanatical player at trainings.

Van Gaal has joined, so I would say "the ego has landed".
