Manchester United Thread

I think he offends me because he's so ugly. Same with that kid at Liverpool, I swear, he's the ugliest player ever to grace a football pitch. He looks like a lost squirrel.

in terms of players I think it's vital we sign a world class winger, we lack pace in our side (pace and quality combined anyway :P)

While CM is probably just as big an issue I can see a couple of targets (Kroos, Rakitic, Fabregas etc) being potentially available I think it would be much more difficult targeting that wide man with the necessary quality required.

Reus is pretty much top of the list for me, we should really go all out to make him our number one target IMO

after him there our potential available players like Lucas Moura who could be available and maybe others but wouldn't possess the ready made qualities of a Reus at this stage.

watching us play this season without having that someone who stretches defences and offer what has been one of our main assets which is counter attacking play has hurt us big time IMO

As well as being that outlet we've missed, as we saw in that 2009 team, our midfield wasn't the best even then but the quality of a Ronaldo to push teams back gave us that breathing space in the middle of the park.

Story of our season at home. Team parks bus, we create very little they score from only chance. Blind cross lands perfectly at the feet of a player that hasn't scored in a year, perfect volley into the corner.

Fletcher and carrick have been woeful.

Pretty much.

thankfully this will kill any of the talk for Giggs to be permanent and highlights how in desperate need we are of a manager like LVG to modernize our football.

Ashley Young, you can fuck off! A player unworthy of the United shirt. Hell, he shouldn't even make the bench...
Abysmal every time he touches the ball, looks only at the ball when in possession, stupid decision making, etc.

And to think Kagawa gets left out of the squad and Januzaj is benched just so this cheating little fuck can ruin every single attack going through his zone, is just mind-boggling.

Been better second half but Sunderland are defending well. Not sure the ball has been in our third in 25 minutes, but we need a goal.

Nothing to do with this match, but the ball was in play for 25 seconds of the 4 added minutes.

Time wasting is rewarded. All teams should start doing it, Sunderland were wasting it even before they scored, and it really pays off. Pulis knew that's what stoke averaged 5 less minutes of football a match.

if anything just excited me more about LVG, we seriously need to shake up the entire belief in how we play.

We either need to sign elite wingers or change our approach because at the minute were trying to fit completely different types of players into a system that isn't made for them.

I've been saying this for years, even while Fergie was here.

In his final season, Carrick papered over the cracks in midfield and our disjointed attacking play didn't matter because more often than not van Persie would come up with the goods to get us the points.

The failure to properly phase out Rio and Vidic and give two of Jones, Smalling and Evans an extended run as a partnership in central defence has ruined our defence, along with the failure to bring in someone to challenge Rafael at RB and a long term replacement for Evra that isn't some random Dutch left-winger brought in to carry van Persie's bags.

Man Utd's football is stuck in the stone ages, such a depressing team to watch.

Cross, cross, cross - that is Utd way. Boring. Nothing techincal about it.

Van Gaal will sort you out.

LVG should be at the game tonight, hopefully its announced just before or after.

possibly a lot of last appearances tonight, Vidic, Rio, Evra and possibly even Giggs!

Hopefully they all have one left in them to go out on a win.

Just watched today s game...

If i had a daughter id let Januzaj marry her. His movement truly is out of this world awesome. Meyler should get a retro active ban for that blatant stomp on his ankle..what a dick.

And Fellaini is still a waste of precious pitch real estate...it was seriously frustrating to watch how many times he was simply in the way.

Big salute to Vidic..what a player he s been for us. And last but not least..tough to see Giggs biting his lip and holding back his tears after the speech...legend!!

Wow, what a big man is that Meyler. Stamping on a kid's shin, while the kid is defenseless on the ground. He must be tough as nails.

But that's just good British play. What we should worry about is diving. That's what bans should be brought in for.

Also, the fear is gone. I didn't recognise that ref (is he from the youth team too?) but we should have had 3 nailed on penalties. Particularly the one on Janujaz in the first half - tackle fully from behind, and the defender's only contact with the ball was to handle it out of bounds after he'd taken out Adnan. Great officiating.

Typical of this season.

You won. Get over it.

"Refs, refs, refs" is all you hear from the modern day armchair fan. Really boring - they are human and make mistakes.

It was funny hearing the crowd chanting "Keeper, let it in" when Giggsy had took a free kick!
Hopefully a few more of the youngsters get a run out against Southampton - maybe Pereira, Janko & Michael Keane...

I'll bite. So if Januzaj (or any player for that matter) ended up with a broken leg, your bottom line is "well, you won so it doesn't matter" ?

Not at all. But is his leg broken? NO!

It's such a common theme at football forums across the land now.

Many supporters seem to think that they get all the hard luck when it comes to refs. It's bullshit sorry! Man Utd have had refs in pockets for years, as have Chelsea and Liverpool at Anfield. But their supporters have the gall to suggest that refs are not giving them anything.

It's a joke. Refs make mistakes, they are human beings. Remember, players make mistakes but that's ok I guess? Grown men getting angry about refs, it's silly.

On talksports they were discussing how the F.A needs to do something about that. Regardless if the ref had a look at it .

Aye, cant believe this is going unpunished. That was one of the worst stomps I've seen, and I've seen a number....has jack shit to do with what team won or who i root for. If one of our players did something similar id call for a ban as well. There s aggressive play and then there's pure, malicious and unwarranted aggression.

Anyhoo..in lighter news..here s a funny and cringe worthy run in with LvG and some of Britain's finest:
http://youtu.be/U-Uu4S1Bdn0

"What is Carrington?" :APPLAUD:
Press conferences wont be boring

There's a classic dutch interview from a few years ago when a hack asked some pointless question..anyway an irritated LvG responded along the lines of;

"I have already anwsered this question so why are you asking it again, I am that clever or are you all so stupid?!" Said angrily and with a red face.

He's great, wanted him at Liverpool before they appointed Rodgers. The only possible issue is his teaching principles, works great with younger less experienced players but how the likes of Rooney are going to respond will be interesting.

Januzaj on Ronaldo

"I watch him a lot and try to do the same things that he does," he explained. "He is a very good player. I always look at him and watch his games as well and try to do what he is doing and remember what he did at Manchester United.

"I have to work hard in the gym like he did because, when he came here, he wasn't strong. But after a year or so he became really strong and could push people away. I'm getting a bit stronger now due to the gym work."

the one huge bright spot of the season, brilliant talent :...

Is that the same Bobby Charlton that said ' "absolutely certain" Manchester United were right to appoint David Moyes as manager.
