Manchester United Thread

Ancelotti would be excellent. I'm now rooting for Bayern, as I figure if Madrid don't win the CL or the League, he'll be shown the door.

Nice, even more reason for me to support Belgium at this WC - Adnan has declared he'd like to play for them.

...wait, what do you mean they probably won't take him? Well boo.

Yeah to be honest ive definitely soured on Wenger over the last year or two, he's done a great job 'overall' with Arsenal but I don't think he has what it takes to become a perennial winner in todays climate.

:) Can have your jokes for now.

have your fairytale season, probably deserve for the past 24 years.

Precisely how I feel.

Giggsy looks terrified in his press conference :)

And then when asked if he's still a player, says: "I've just given myself a five year contract"

That's class.

Please don't feel all Liverpool fans find other teams problems amusing or funny.

I don't.

A strong United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City, Everton, Spurs etc can only be good for the Premier League.

Two horse races as they are in Germany, Spain (except this season), Scotland, make for poor entertainment.

It hasn't been talked about but I wonder what will happen with Rooney now that Moyes has gone?

Pay raise?

W regards to whole coaching thing..in sure the possible successors were lined up months ago. Question is..what coach has the balls to step into a fairly daunting challenge of building a team for the future?

Oh most definitely.

I mean after all these years of both of our success how often have we both had great teams at the same time challenging at the same time for titles.

We could be close to that soon I hope, not sure my heart can take it though

Man United: De Gea, Jones, Vidic, Ferdinand, Evra, Valencia, Carrick, Cleverley, Kagawa, Welbeck, Rooney

Mata is injured?

"Manchester United have had more shots on target today, with 11, than in any other Premier League game this season."

Think we had almost 30 attempts by the end - easily the most this season. And if Hernandez wasn't in a funk, should have been 5-0.

Either way, first half was slow - Norwich oddly wasting time. They're the ones who needed the points, so at 0-0 I'm not sure about that strategy.

Second half we looked great. Mata's movement is excellent, he offered a lot more than Welbz.

Can't read much into a home win against Norwich, but one game a time for Giggsy.

Had obligations keeping me from seeing the game live today, saw the replay on Sky Sports.

:)) feels good to 'feel' like watching United again, had that aura about it, with that said I hope people don't go overboard and pressurize us into making Giggs permanent.

more than ever right now I feel Van Gaal is the right man and him anchored by Giggs, Butt and Scholes is what we need right now.

Then Giggs would be ready assisted by those two with all that knowledge and experience on board.

Norwich were incredibly bad. I strongly feel the fans that travelled up should be compensated for their tickets and travel by the Norwich players, shocking performance.

Anyways, I didn't think we were that good. Especially the first half it was the same turgid rubbish we've played all season at home. No invention, no pace. Carrick was shut off by Howson and he had to deal with Cleverley being next to him who was abysmal as ever. Kagawa was looking to create but Rooney was so bad up front that nothing stuck and Valencia had one of his usual crossing mares whereby he just slams it into the first defender every time.

Second half we were better. The goal just before HT made the second easier and once Rooney scored again (awful defending or a clever run from Shinji?) they folded which made it easier again for us. Mata came on and was brilliant and suddenly we started playing some decent, quick interplays.

I can forgive the first half because it's not easy after a season of shite to suddenly change your form and confidence and seeing Giggs, Scholes and Butt deep in conversation as our coaching staff is the stuff dreams are made of.

Hansen/Savage on MOTD have said the right things though. We'd be better off losing some of our remaining games because if we win them all with convincing scores they'll have to give the job to Giggsy based on the wave of sentiment towards him and the rest of the class of '92. It's too early for them now and it'll be a disaster for everyone involved next season. We need Van Gaal (if it's him) to accept Giggsy as assistant in some capacity so he can learn and then take over in a few years.

I was so hyped about Van Gaal and you are going to come in and nick him from under our noses!

We'll get Moyes in the summer, won't we? I am scared.

Yeah the Van Gaal link is getting stronger, hopefully we can have something sorted soon where he's able to delegate his transfer targets and we can be up and running with our squad mid August.
