Manchester United Thread

Well they were fine in the first half, really sporting. Something clicked at half time, it's like the coach told them that Fellaini will be sent off if they go to ground enough. And he was. Soft sending off, but maybe earned it.

And then I lose all moral high ground having Young go down so easily. Can we please sell him please. I don't want to see him in a United shirt ever again. I've simply had enough.

If RVP and Hernandez do their jobs, we're through - done and dusted. Really poor from them today - missing a penalty is unforgiveable at this level.

Ehh wasnt even a deserved penalty so in a way i think its deserved it didnt go in. Young and Fellaini made us look like idiots w that dive and red card.

Hernandez was unlucky really. Nasty bobble

Yep, book him ffs and get him out of our club. Glad RVP missed tbh.

Van Persie should have tapped in that effort which hit the post, shame as that's made it quite nervy for us now going into those last two fixtures.

or maybe RVP just wanted to save all the good stuff for Sunday :SMUG:

Didn't Moyes speak out the last time he did it and said it wasn't acceptable?

Maybe they should fine him or ban him themselves if they are that against it?

He seems to do it all of the time now  did he used to do it at Villa?

Remember Arsenal's Dudu that Tues or Wed?
At the same week on Thursday night ? Ashley did the worse dive ever at the time The British media was crucifying Dudu . He won't stop! it's like a dog that barks ,it's in his DNA to drop roll n scream.

Yeah, he did. A few of us pointed out his antics after the 2010 Carling Cup final and I can specifically remember one horrible dive against Rapid Vienna.

Yeah that was funny, it was like nobody in the world had ever dived before  he basically was treated like a murderer for a few days! and then everybody came to their senses finally.

It's obvious that it is just more highlighted now he is at United then, as most things are when you are at a bigger club.

Think plenty of United fans would argue forcing him to play would be a greater punishment than banning him :P

It's very weird, he seems like a nice enough bloke off the pitch, but has this nasty habit on it.

Some players dive because they're vain and are embarrassed if the ball gets away from them (Ronaldo for example would do that), some players do it out of competitiveness, others do it purely by habit when in that position and personally I think Young falls into that category.

The most worrying quote from Fergie's biography, one that everyone seems to have missed, is that he said Young was brought in to replace Giggs...

Cripes. Why is it so hard to find a decent left footed option? (Zoran Tosic sobs somewhere in Russia)

For me Young was brought in as an upgrade to what Ji Sung Park had become. Not a starter, but a high-energy, defensively sound left sided player.

In some bizarre way, I have to thank Young. If he wasn't so awful, Janujaz would never get a chance.

I don't think he's that bad a player really. He has been one of Utd's better players in periods since he joined but, yea, he's not top quality. Plenty of decent teams would sign him, Everton for example, but I highly doubt, infact I am positive, Utd fans would be washing their hands of him on moral grounds if he was of the caliber of their past pathological divers, eg. RVN.

You don't know that Godotelli.
I rather think it is fair from them to point a finger to one of their own players.
Much has changed here since that Rune guy isn't around anymore...

Whoa whoa whoa. Let me stop you right f*cking there.

Ruud van Nistlerooy? A serial diver? The absolute f*ck?

Are you just randomly picking United players and accusing them of diving? Ruud was one of the strongest, most physically strong forwards the premier league has ever seen. Calling him a diver? Who next, Duncan Ferguson and Alan Shearer?

What are you on about? Ronaldo, Nani, Rooney - fine. But there's no need at all to bring Ruud into this.

Have you ever seen Van Nistlerooy play ffs?

Most United fans hate the way Nani dives too - if you read RedCafe most posters are ultra-critical.

Ronaldo was a little bit different because he used to be hacked to pieces over the course of ever match he played, far and away the most fouled player in the league and you could see teams were just hatchet-jobbing him. So when he went down easily we gave him some slack. Except that Fulham penalty, that was crap. Also to Ronaldo's credit in his last 2 seasons he cut a lot of it out. Best example - when City's brave Michael Ball stamped on Ronnie when he was on the ground and the ref missed it - Ronaldo got back up, went down the field and tricked Ball into giving away a penalty.

Young is just over the top. It's nothing to do with him being good or not, it's to do with him being a serial diver. And I hate it, even if he's on my team.

Van nistleroy was one of the most sly players I have ever seen. Faking injury, misleading refs etc I remember him in one game raking his studs down one of our players legs and then feigning injury himself, he also got Vieira sent of because Vieira waved his leg in Van Nistleroys general direction.

It may not have been all out diving but it's just as bad if you ask me.....even worse.

Of course I'm not biased at all.......but he was a dick :DD

Oh totally, he had a very nasty edge to him. But a diver? Never.

He had a cunt edge to him, similar to other Dutch strikers like Bergkamp, RvP etc.

I wouldn't call him a serial diver though.

I'm 32 so, yea, I've seen him play. A great goalscorer but a diving cheat. It's not even up for debate. I'm shocked at your outrage, you obviously have some strong emotional feeling for RVN in particular - probably the goals ...which, well, is kind of my point.

As for the nonsensical highlighted part- Didier Drogba. being strong doesn't stop you from being a diver.

You'd have a great point about him being a diving cheat, if you weren't completely wrong. Not up for debate? Because you say so?

Fans of other clubs - have you ever thought of him as a serial diver? He's sly, aggressive and a bit dirty but I've literally never heard him, in all my years of United fandom of being serial diver. Even when he was at the forefront of the Arsenal/United heaveyweight grudge matches, his crimes weren't dives. I remember him leaving studs in on a full back (don't think it was Cole, maybe Lauren?), recall him aiming some choice elbows towards Keown and of course his long spat with Vieira. But a serial diver?

I often can't tell with you if you're just a WUM in disguise, some posts are serious and well thought out, and others are such tripe it just reads like a teenage keyboard warrior looking for a reaction - almost always aimed at other clubs in their threads.

Like Young and like CR, Ferguson reportedly told RVN to stop diving. He had a terrible reputation as a diver, I don't know where your memory has gone, and that was because he dived. A lot. Especially in his first few years at Utd

Whether it's the goals or whether you associate any criticism of RVN diving with the partisanship of Arsenal and Utd during that era, I don't know, but it's very weird.

I wouldn't label him a diver, he was definitely sly though :SMUG:

The Ronaldo/Young thing whilst obviously ignoring the quality of the players is one was extremely brave in getting kicked constantly and continuing to run at his man relentlessly whereas Young's a bit of a coward in his approach, not only does he dive but he lacks bravery or courage to his game.

The strange thing here is that even if he wasn't a diver, you make it all sound like diving is much worse than what Van nistlerooy used to do. I prefer a diver over what he did anyday of the week. It's all cheating at the end of the day he just added a bit more to it all.

Well, for me, nope.

I would take Roy Keane and van Nistelrooy side anytime.

They had character and were not pussies to dive with slight contact. They would haunt you and break you if you dived.

At least back then, bones rattled ;).

Now there is approval for diving, which is pathetic sight and I would slap the fucker from MY team doing it. Be a fucking MAN or at least don't fall with every contact. ;)

And that Young gif is exactly a proof why I despise such guys. He is a shame to Man Utd club and should not play any game in near future.
