Manchester United Thread

Only watched the first hour. Utd were utter wank and lucky not to have been 3 or 4 down.

Still, didn't think Stoke would hold out, they started sitting back far too early.

Comebacks are always confidence boosters tho no matter the performance beforehand so maybe this result will kickstart your season?

Booing Nani is hang your heads in shame stuff. Jesus... talk about being spoilt

What other club boos their team off at the half...:P :COAT: spoil indeed . Great come back to win though :))

I don't like to see booing at half time either (unless it's for the ref!), even if it's sometimes understandable, but to boo an individual is low. We saw it with Edghill all those years ago. It's terrible.

Not quite as bad as how you lot treated Eboue tho

Eboue was the worst I ever seen in a player. To sub in n sub out!!! Lowest point in the Arsenal . Although he withstood the onslaught and became the love able of the squad. I was shock to witness that booing at OT.

I'd rather have the fans boo the team if it's clear he effort isn't there than throw out obscenities or whatever. If the team is boosted to give a better showing in the 2nd like today it becomes a self perpetuating practice bc the crowd will think it works. If the team gets all down bc they get booed however the serious need to grow a pair. Mind you.. I'm never a fan however of booing individual players.

Can not believe Moyes said that he'd take wins like this every week instead of analysing the weaker points. If Stoke had better finishing, United could've been down at least 0-2. Is that seriously how low United have sunk over such a short period?

Darren Fletcher starting for the reserves tonight. Interesting.

Am not as big a fan as most, feel he only had about 18 months at the very top level, but at least he's another body that can play midfield.

Let's just hope this is the confidence booster needed to get our season back on track. It's still early, anything can still happen. Let's hope that Moyes has finally found the formula and the style that we should play to get the points.

"Edwin van der Sar, one of the best goalkeepers ever to play for United, celebrates his 43rd birthday today (29 October).
The Dutchman had the best clean-sheet ratio of any established Reds stopper, notching 135 in 266 games."

Happy birthday, Edwin!

And just look at those stats - mind-boggling! Remember how good our defence used to be... Now we can't manage more than 2 consecutive clean sheets.

IMO Edwin Van der Sar is one of the best GK of the last 15 years. He was overshadoiwed by Buffon, but that was bad luck... just like Buffon he is one of the all-time greats...

The best United GK since Schmeichel (but De Gea will turn out to be very, very good too).

I completely agree with what you said, both for Edwin and for De Gea. Van der Sar is one of my all time favourite players, just pure class.

What a performance. Adnan isn't going to be a special player, he already is. So much elegance.

Also worth checking out Fabio's goal if you get a chance. An absolutely world class assist from Rooney. One of the passes of the season.

He has that same kind of silky elegance and ease on the ball that Silva does, like he was born with a football at his feet

Yeah not the first time I heard that comparison and logically so. Hope he stays mostly injury free to accelerate his development and give Moyes some time to build a proper team for the next5 years with him as a large part of it. I like the lad even more now that t seems he has a positive impact on Rooney and RvP s moods.. They both seem to love the kid too.

And aye congrats to Ed. His stats are amazing.. As Gerd said too bad he had to compete with some of history's greater goalies in his generation. Gentle giant off the pitch but at the same time I loved watching him berate his defense when they weren't in the right place.. A true commander of the box.

Januzaj has the abilities to be a catalyst in the attack, sparking all our passing moves for years to come. He can be a footballing leader, which is excellent.

I'd just like to see Lingaard given a proper first team run out in the Prem, and Evans needs to start ahead of Ferdinand every game. He's (imo) been our most solid defender this year, and for large parts of last year. Rio bless him, has just dropped all his form from the end of last season and looks completely average at best again.

So Zaha then, watched his performance against Norwich and he wasn't too good really, i'd put that mainly down to lack of games and with his playing style confidence too.

however he is 21 and when you compare that to the refined game of Januzaj he definitely seems a little far from matching that level at the minute, how good can he be, especially with the confidence for places we have he really should be getting regular minutes at this stage of his development.

I still have high hopes for Zaha, he is still only 20 I think and has no top level experience. It'll take time, but he has some amazing natural attributes. Not only does he have fantastic technique already, but he is a physical monster at only 20. I'd wager he's already one of the fastest players in our team, plus he's tall and strong.

Has all the ingredients of a player who would be a nightmare to play against, but it's definitely going to take time to develop him. Something we've been good at in the past, so let's trust Moyes and co.

I noticed against Norwich that he was similar to Welbeck in the sense that he doesn't make the most of his phsyical attributes.

Januzaj put him through to some vast space behind their fullback at one point and despite being quick as a flash he didn't really get going, almost got caught by the defenders. Annoys me no end when Danny does that and just strolls up the pitch rather than sprints.

We've struggled at home with the support in our favour, will be interesting to see how we handle the opposite tommorow without that additional help.

I really hope RVP can hit a run of form, we really need him firing as he clearly showed last year how much of a difference maker he is at his best.

Aye i know this is a team sport but having rvp win the top scorer award for the third year in a row would be pretty awesome

only 2 points off City and 3 off Chelsea is quite incredibly considering how shit a start to the season we've had.
