Manchester United Thread

the most surpising thing is Southampton position atm. would be amazing to see them get to CL eventually :D

but obviously i want LFC as high as possible but the fact the points are so important means anyone can win it or get to top 4 and it will be decieded last day if it continues like this.

exciting league.

Get in! Great defensive display today, if you think about it, Arsenal never had a clear chance, except maybe Sagna's dangerous crosses.

Really happy with the result, hope it gives us a big moral boost.

UNITED!

Magnificent team performance all-round.

Arsenal as expected dominated possession but really Sagna was their only creative outlet today (put in some fantastic crosses as well).

I never give praise to Rooney anymore after all that has happened but he was incredible today. If he played like that every week he'd be getting Balon d'Or nominated every year. The fire is certainly back.

Jones and Smalling stood out as well. Jones was just a beast getting in front of everything. Like John Terry in his prime minus the racism and adultery. Not my favourite type of defending but very easy to appreciate the effort inolved. Smalling was the same in the second half, constantly winning headers, getting blocks in and so on.

So bloody pleased with a win in a big game. I think we're remembering exactly who we are again, and that feeling was kicked off by the comeback against Stoke.

COME ON DAVID MOYES, PLAY LIKE FERGIES BOYS, WE GO WIIIIIILD WILD WILD!

Strange match. Once Jones went back into defence, Cleverley basically gave up the midfield to Arsenal...but...they did nothing with it. The only two chances came from our LMF giving the ball away when Evra was already over-lapping - something Giggs/Kagawa need to cut out. Other than Arsenal did nothing with the ball whatsoever, I'm not convinced De Gea had a save to make.

You won't hear about either, but some pretty woeful officiating. A yellow to Jones for going for a header, linesman giving a corner against De Gea when none of the ball crossed the line and Rooney should really have had a penalty against Giroud midway through the first half. Couple that with the Chelsea and Stoke decisions, and you do wonder what it'll take to 'fix' the problem.

Still, crisis team is now 1 point behind Chelsea, 1 above City having played by far the most difficult opening 11 fixtures. Will be interesting. We're still not good enough to win the league, but looking better for a CL place, which I think is where this squad is.

Being harsh on Moyes, but... I start to see what he wanted to do when he took over. Sort our defensive side out.

He already probably knew, that our attack is very capable, but when teams attack us, all goes tits up and all players legs start to shake.

Now it looks like he found good outset for defense. We were really solid at the back today.

Even though it wasn't funny for Vidic btw..but did anyone pay attention to his facial expression in the replay of that collision with DDG? looked like his head was getting ripped off.

Btw we need gifs for De Gea's ridiculous punch to the centerfield and that RvP piece of skill in getting the ball between the 2 Gunners to make em look like sunday league players.

As for winning the league, I too don't think we're good enough but then look at everyone else.

Everyone thought with Mourinho back Chelsea would storm off and they don't look convincing...
Everyone thought with someone other than Mancini that City would storm off and they're below us and can't win away...

Arsenal are looking good but their first major test has shown they're the same as ever.
Liverpool are Liverpool.
Spurs are Spurs.

And Southampton being the surprise package can't really be considered contenders until much later on in the year. (It'll genuinely be great if they're in the same position come March/April/May).

I don't think it's as hard to win as people expected. Seemingly much like last season albeit we're not streaking ahead.

Yeah I don't think were special but on the evidence of this campaign no one is, I mean Arsenal and Liverpool sit 1st and 2nd because they've managed to dispatch the lower sides whereas United, City and Chelsea have been at crises point at some stage.

I genuinely think we can win it now because I also think think Arsenal and even Liverpool at this rate are serious contenders.

ow and RVP IS A GOD!

Yeah Jones was pretty brilliant in midfield against a midfield who'd looked frighteningly good recently.

Reus has a release clause :...

I hope were all over that in the Summer, we really need a reliable, quality winger in the team because at the minute were just shuffling through a decent deck.

Sure, and we'll bring in Gundogan too. No problem. With Woodward's record of signing marquee talent at discount prices and Moyes' ability to woo the world's greatest, it's hardly even a doubt.

;))

He has a release clause so unless we start bidding at 15M and then refuse to go over we probably have a chance.

OH SHIT YOUR RIGHT

If we offer Kagawa back we might get Reus, although Reus states that he is very happy in Dortmund.

We would have to offer something he can't have in Borussia and sadly... I can't see such thing at the moment.

We need to find back up for Vidic/Ferdinand too. Try getting Zouma from Etienne if we still have a chance of getting him!

you need to offer more money than Dortmund, simple as that :D

That wouldn't be the difficult bit, we'd have to offer more than City, Chelsea and possibly Bayern put on the table.

Also were a bit fucked without Carrick, well atleast we have a body this time so Fellaini will come in but in terms of creative passing, were fucked so we'll need neither are wingers to carry the load (another unlikely event) or Rooney and RVP will be getting scraps as well as our defensive solidarity being fucked to boot.
