Manchester United Thread

Man Utd lack creativity.

Only player who looked like creating or doing anything was rooney and thankfully he got his reward. Rest of the team didn't keep up with the intensity of the game and looked like they wanted to go home at half time. I thought we would have changed it up at half time, as clearly it wasn't working first half, then when we did, we were 4-0 down. Still don't understand why we played young and welbeck over kagawa and nani, would have offered a lot more than what they show cased.

Didn't get to watch the game today bc I'm on the road but sounds like I didn't miss much. Why did Robin not play? Is he injured or expected to be out for a while?

Thigh strain apparently.

I think he picked "defensive" attackers, especially with Wellbeck. He is a player who will harass and run at opposition defenders, I think Moyes was going for containment rather than attacking intent. For instance Hernandez would have been more likely to score than Wellbeck (going by last seasons stats) but probably wouldn't be as good at closing down etc.

Which is ironic that a side picked to be 'solid' was ripped apart.

So again why wasn't Nani or Kagawa playing? Ow right! not match fit and then not brought on either to improve that either.

...

What are you guys talking about, was there a game yesterday?

Naaa....

LALALALALALA, I CAN'T HEAR YOU!

If there was a game yesterday though, I imagine i'd of been quite annoyed at our continued negativity in our setup, uninspiring.

There's alot that can be said about the 'performance' and team selection and other things from Sunday, but I think I'll hold my tongue until this time next week.

Every manager gets shown up, every team gets embarrassed sometimes and every big player has a nightmare. It's not about that day, it's about the day after.

Ferguson's United had an absolutely amazing record of barely ever losing two matches in a row. It happened literally a handful of times in his 20 some years there.

That is the true test. Not helped by the next match being Liverpool and the bitey-one's return, but we're United, at home. We shouldn't fear LFC, they should fear us.

Moyes and co had a bad day at he office. Won't be the first and won't be the last. It's all about the next match.

Ive been patient with the lack of creative choices but he really needs to sort it know.

Zaha, Nani, Januzaj, Kagawa and Rooney, take your pick really but any two of those need to start every game.

I figure tomorrow night we'll see a good deal of youth. Surely Zaha will get a start - he has yet to feature for the first team right? Given Pool played exclusively CBs on Saturday, I'd love to send him and Nani down the wings at the relatively slower 'big men'.

Will be interesting if we get an Anderson/Fellaini midfield. Not sure how that would hold together, depends entirely on which Fellaini turns up.

Regardless of who the opponent is, we have a lot of players who need minutes, and Moyes is going to hvae to get used to sorting out a big squad. I'd like to see:

-----------------Lindegaard-----------------
--Fabio-------Vidic-----Evans----Buttner----
------------Cleverley--Fellaini-------------
-------------------Kagawa-------------------
--------Nani------------------Zaha----------
-------------------Rooney-------------------

With a view to getting Hernandez on around the 55th minute. Can't drop Rooney in this form.

Embarassing performance, really. City could've scored 10 if they'd carried on playing.

Moyes is just copying Fergie's approach to big games in recent seasons and making the same mistakes he did.

I'd like to see Evans in the starting XI now. Rio's been a liability all season and I'm amazed he's been played so often anyway with his long standing back problem.

Why Young keeps on getting picked, I'll never understand.

Kagawa, Nani and Hernandez need to play more often, even if it just means bringing them off the bench. Kagawa and Nani should be starting games given the form Valencia and Young have been showing since last season.

Why Moyes chose to push Fellaini in behind the striker when he had someone on the bench who was one of the best in Europe in that position at his previous club is baffling.

This game cannot come sooner, I need a new fresh football memory.

Moyes needs to use the squad in this game, think we need some freshness and energy to help us through this one.

Besides, these are quality players we're talking about, Kagawa, Nani, Hernandez and Evans, all full internationals that have barely had a kick this season.

Yeah, you can't fault the 'random' draw can you? Suarez returns at Old Trafford, Wednesday night during prime time. Pretty convenient that.

I saw him against Peru (in Peru - you should have seen the reaction to his diving to get the Peruvian sent off!) and he looked just fine, despite obviously not having a lot of first team time recently.

All I want is to see some fire. I don't even care what the team is, I just want some energy and desire out there (well, I guess that rules out Young and Giggs, but hey what can ya do).

Also hope we get a decent ref. I've watched the last few LFC v MUFC U21 matches, and typically the young scousers have been looking to injure someone.

Bwahahaha - Moyes really is the next Fergie!

Against the pretty solid midfield of Gerrard, Lucas and Hernderson, Moyesey goes with Jones and Giggs.

For. Fucks. Sake.

Edit: Wayne Rooney is the F*CKING CAPTAIN!? Jesus wept.

What is our club doing?

Jones is fine but why not Cleverley? tihkn the boy deserves a start to prove himself.

definitely a lot of flair though, Nani, Giggs, Kagawa and Rooney :...

Agreed. For those 5 minutes we have the ball, we're going to be awesome ;)

Love that Brenton has fielded his full strength team. Says a lot about priorities these days.

Our back line must have an average age of like 21/22. Including the keeper! Gulp.

Agreed. Am generally pessimistic about United these days. We haven't been that much fun to watch for a while. It's a problem.

We'll see, maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.

Wow can't watch at work but match tracker shows Chicha scored.. WTF is wrong with Moyes? Why is he playing one of the best striker poachers against Liverpool? :PIRATE:

Embarrassing commentary from Sky, Tyler was virtually willing Suarez to score by the end.

Yeah, I've given up since Sky actually hired Niall Quinn to commentate in United games.

The highlight for me was when Nani was taken down in the box and nothing given (right call) Tyler brought up how United are under the spotlight due to Ashley Young, and then literally a minute later talked about how wise Suarez is at 'winning fouls'.

He also said 'well the ball has just hit Hernandez'. Which is a bit harsh, after fantastic movement and a body-twisting, deft finish.

Another time Tyler called Suarez's past 'a bit mischievous'. That loveable little scamp.

The whole narrative this evening was 'arent Liverpool doing well, United must be worried as they're in crisis'.

Gotta love Chicharito's ability to nick a goal and his ability on the ball as improved no end, love him.

He had two moments of genuine skill in the second half - bringing down the ball and bringing others in. Great to see.

It's tough because you can't drop RVP or Rooney on their current form, but he needs to get more minutes.
