Manchester United Thread

Yeah, especially Real. they have a history of letting go of some extremely talented players in favor of the latest new toy. Sneijder and Robben come to mind.

Whether anything materializes or not I think were looking to land the whale rather than big fish with Ronaldo though.

As we close to that time of year again - when United don't bring in a midfielder and therefore we have to hope that all historic trends of injury records don't continue - I'm just really praying we do get to see the 'youth' this season.

If Jones is going to be the answer then let's give him a run there. He's not going to overnight become a midfielder. Similarly, if Cleverley and Anderson are the answer, start them. Give them games. They'll make mistakes but give them a proper run in the first team. Fergie was so quick to chop change and then put Giggs in there that it was hard to get momentum for players.

That's the one thing I'm most interested in with Moyes and this squad - which is how much was the Fergie factor. The media, a lot of fans (myself included) believe that Fergie was the reason this squad one the league over better squads, but maybe our squad is just underrated because it's not quite as glamorous and shiny and new.

I'm not sure. At least Moyes won't continually start Giggs in the middle, despite the fact he hasn't played well there for almost 2 years. Or maybe he will. *shudder*

So Rooney's managed to hurt himself again, guess he didn't limber up before practising his transfer request writing. Rookie mistake Wayne.

Just want this summer to be over. Can't believe the overall negativity surrounding the club given we've just come back and taken our trophy back from the cross-city Billionaires, also extending our lead in total league titles.

We should be celebrating and looking forward to a new season, instead a selfish f*ck from Liverpool is too cowardly to speak for himself and too weak to do his job.

You shouldn`t get that work up about it. Arsenal headlines 'They can`t win the Emirates Cup' so Arsenal won`t be in the CL anymore. Spurs signed a ST so they have a shot to pass Arsenal and aim for the title. 'Wenger has lost it , he refuses to sign'...'Why does Arsenal steal from the fans'!
I`ve been reading from the media for years. At the end of the season it will be 'Arsenal stay among the top 4' ,because Spurs n whatever team at the time made crucial errors to push Arsenal where they seem to belong. I think Mutd w/o signing anyone will manage fine ,at worst 3rd spot, you can put a chimpanzee at the coaching staff and still have the mentally to fight for the top.

ooney will only leave ,once MUTD brings someone

Looks like the CR pipedream is over

Was never going to happen anyway. United have never been able to/chosen to buy the very best players in the world. Not the way we roll. Unless they happen to be English and young, then we break our medium sized bank.

He'd only have come back if he basically forced the issue by refusing to play. Which he would never do.

Can totally see him coming once his contract is done though, in 2015. He'll be 30, and can come take over from RVP as a central striker.

Erm you do realize that those two wouldn't be bad signings. Sounds stupid trying to make them out as league 1 players when both are arguably better than what we posses.

Its not that they'd be bad signings, its that they're a world away from what we have already been linked with this window. It just seems like a lack of ambition from Moyes. Plus being hugely frustrated that all other clubs are making strides in improving their lineups, while we are at a stand still.

I wouldn't care if we didn't sign anyone if I was sure that we would be keeping players like Anderson and Nani and giving them an actual chance to shine. I'd also be happy for some clarification on the Rooney front, if he's going then signing no one will not be good enough imo.

As we've mentioned before on here, it's very rare for United to buy 'world class' players, even rarer from other leagues. United's transfer policy was always to poach from mid-table teams in the premier league, and hoover up the best young English players. Veron was a very notable change in that.

Fellaini and Baines would be great business. I'd take that in a heart beat.

I'd be happy with Baines because Evra has been just short of awful for a few years now. But fellaini is a player who I will never be able to stand, and if he was playing for United I'd hate it so much.

I'd rather we pushed for Cabaye right now.

But then again, I would also be happy if we signed up Williams from Palace this season. He will be a fantastic player if he gets some good form behind him, I reckon he'd cost £5m now but next year he will he closer to £15-20m.

That post doesn't make much sense.

Lack of ambition from Moyes, whislt he's pursued the signature of Thiago, Fabregas, murmers about Ronaldo too.

No ones mentioned Fellaini other than you as a stick to beat us with because he haven't signed Fabregas, Ronaldo and Messi on July 1st all with the shiny packaging.

Not sure why you would think Anderson's going anywhere? Its like me suddenly starting a rumour that I hope Van Persie doesn't leave even without their being anything to back it up. Nani looks set to be staying which is nice so again nothing to worry about on that front.

Clarification on the Rooney front? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...lseas-second-bid-for-striker-is-rejected.html

How's that?

I find it quite worrying how nothing actually has happened yet and fans are losing their minds in some massive panic that were having the worst summer ever, god forbid the 'Moyes Out' stuff as soon as we drop points or (whisper it) lose a game.

I worry about the Rooney situation only bc its Mourinho chasing him but at the same time I have seen no reason to believe he is actually going anywhere. Regardless of what you think of the guy he's one of the select few players that can dictate/decide agame. Unfortunately for him we currently have 2 players that are arguably better in the specific positions he tends to float between; rvp and kagawa tho the latter still has a bit to prove at United. I love Chicha but he doesn't have the breadth of skills Rooney and RvP do, and Welbeck ..well..that seems to be a project for the ages. So in essence he only has to truly compete with one guy for a place in the lineup..that seems entirely reasonable and I hope that both parties see it that way.

The rest of the transfer saga..let's just say I don't give two shits about what the press claims or what president or coach of whatever team says. It's all bs and pr. Let's not forget we have some promising youngsters..I'd rather put my faith in creating the next Utd legend rather than buying a bunch of established "stars". I hope Zaha turns into a brilliant buy for the future.

Nani is back in the starting XI tonight versus AIK and has been the best player on the park by a mile. Looks really motivated - am pretty pleased about that.

A lesson for another player methinks.

EDIT: Hahahahaha, in typical United fashion, after 30 mins Nani is straight down the tunnel with an injury.

Excellent.

Jesus, the season hasn't even started and we've got a (hopefully) very good player injured...

Gutted.

EDIT: Oh come on, Evans now?! Gotta be kidding me...

Another draw, more injuries, RVP misfiring and still no sign of any signings whatsoever.

Lets just get the season started, fed up now. Gonna be more fed up of the Moyes out/SAF in brigade when we don't have a good start to this campaign (despite it probably being the toughest first five we've had in a long, long time).
