Manchester United Thread

I remember when Arsenal`s chairman Hill came out and said" Fabregas won`t make the starting Barca`s XI and would watch from the bench" that made things so bad Fabregas paid his way to leave. Maybe it is what it is, for the good of the club (financially speaking) Also, I don`t believe Rooney is upset playing 2nd fiddle to RVP...he was under Ronaldo for years!

Just send Rooney our way plz :BYE: Jack,Theo, and OX will complete Rooney for ENGLAND NT!

Great, so now Rooney is 'publically' upset. I don't blame him. I've no idea what Ferguson was doing, and now what Moyes is continuing. How hard is this? It's like working in any other profession. Sit down as grown adults and talk it out, agree on an outcome and then move on.

It seems to me like no one is f*cking talking to each other on either side.

Sometimes I seriously question how we're run. I know there's more public interest in United than any other club in England - and moreso that 95% of people in the UK would like it to be bad news - but it's just ridiculous how poorly some of our football related activities are handled and communicated.

Can't we get those geniuses doubling our commercial revenue every year to start applying their giant craniums to sorting out the football side? It's just depressing.

If we lose Rooney and don't sign a class, ready to go midfielder we will finish 4th or 5th this season. No doubt in my mind.

We're one injury away (that bastion of fitness that is RVP) from being mediocre in midfield, mediocre on the wings and mediocre up front.

Damn dude, perhaps it's time to stop reading the tabloids? The woe is me mindset w some Utd fans must seem pitiful to fans of most of the world's other clubs. The sky's not falling last I checked.

You're right of course. We're still far better off than my beloved BAA in Bermuda. So I'll stop posting then?

It's a United forum, where people discuss United happenings. The happenings so far this summer have been a bit bleak.

C'mon dplane, you can't be under the impression that this united squad is anything like our main competitors in terms of squad strength in depth, and strength of the individual.

We have always relied on a strong squad unit, a large part of which was managerial consistency which came in the form of fergie. That squad unity is being threatened by Rooney causing problems of the field and I see it being further damaged by Moyes' lack of experience dealing with actual stars in the game.

Realistically unless Moyes gets a grip on the situations arising or signs some true talent, we are looking at our lowest prem finish ever.

United fans are the most spoilt, ungrateful and fickle fans in the world.

Anyway, with Jose back and Fergie gone, we are going to be the underdogs for the near future, at the very least. Back to the good old days of 2006 where we were savouring every victory and treating every rival slip up with delight. It's nice to have some perspective once in a while.

I just really don't understand why it's not okay to disagree with the way the club are handling certain things.

If the only options as a football fan are to blindly follow the club in all it says and does or 'be a spoilt fan' than I'm definitely in the latter.

Do I think United should win the league every year? Of course not. Does that mean I must agree with the way Ferguson and now Moyes have handled the Rooney thing? I don't even see how the two are related.

It sounds to me like the new bandwagon is making fun of worried United fans who express their worries.

But to me that is the essence of football. Being fan of a club that always wins is just so boring (i've been there, i used to be a Man Utd fan). After a bad spell success is much more sweet....You need the bad spells to savour the triumphs.

Both my favourite clubs aren't very succesfull: Spurs and Genk. KRC Genk win the Jupiler League now and then and everytime it happens i'm over the moon, knowing well that this will mean that they loose their best players (the last time this included Courtois, Benteke and De Bruyne, very, very good players for a Belgian club) and will be the laughing stock of Europe in the Champions League since Genk is a reasonable club and never buys extra players for the CL....

To me that is more football than being fan of a club that always wins....in the end fans of those clubs are spoiled and are fickle....

I really hope United do well this season. I can't see them winning the EPL (but i certainly wouldn't mind), but being in the top four and playing good football would already be a major achievement for Moyes.

I'm also pretty confident that next season Man Utd will be able to buy some good players because i think that at the moment there are suite a few big players who rather would not go to Man Utd because they see a difficult season in this first post-Ferguson season...Maybe it would have been better if Ferguson had stepped down in the middle of last season....(would have been difficult in the short term but perhaps better in the long term).

Well its mata + 10 mil for rooney, what do you think? Id be driving him to london myself for that deal

Is Mourinho out of his mind. Mata is Chelsea's best player...
If i was a Man Utd fan i would pray for that to happen. Rooney is a very good player, but Mata is something special IMO.

player exchanges are extremely rare, its not going to happen, if Rooney goes to Chelsea it will be a flat fee. I think 'underdog' isn't the right word for now, if Jose storms to the title then yes but I genuinely think at the minute were not worse off.

I think even though some are about to slit there wrists we will make some signings to improve the team.

What a favour Chelsea is doing to Manchester because a player with the qualities of Mata is exactly what you need.

Just watched the 2004/05 premier league years, remember when Rooney was a young hero who loved playing for united? And that strike vs Newcastle? Damn things change.

Glaziers take over being protested so vigorously..

John O'Shea playing Centre Mid..

Being beat 3-1 by Chelski managed by Mourinho..

Darren Fletcher, van Nistelrooy and Richardson relegating Southampton.

Max Branning being manager of Crystal Palace.

And a cetain David Moyes getting Everton into Europe

Next year looks like it might be a familiar one..

For those still doubting Rooney:

I'm seeing very similar stat, the key difference being Mata had a largely out of form Torres to play with while Rooney had a very much in form RvP. Also 3 years of age difference.
The win % with nd witout mean nothing cause they can rely too hesviy on other factors.

Rooney only really wins the stats linked with being a striker.

I really believe Chelsea bid 10m + player, only because Rooney was not in their plans and adjusting so they can continue their plans. I think they have to back track and denying such claim not to derail the Chelsea player morale encase the offer was rejected.

I think £30m and high wages off the books is better then swapping a player. I think Barca couldn`t refuse 35m-40m for Cesc. Cesc+RVP will take MUTD back to the top

The whole Cesc thing totally ignores if he want to play for United. If he's miserable, sold against his will and view United as some kind of old enemy he's hardly going to give his all is he?

I'd much rather we went for a slightly lesser player who actually wants to play for us.

Edit: Such as James McCarthy. He's the next Thiago. Maybe. Sort of.

Cause he's come back to England my guess is:

Finishing off Rooney to Chelsea, bringing in Fellaini and Baines, buying Bale and Ronaldo later in the week.
