Manchester United Thread

Agreed, I'm not particularly worried yet (especially after city's non-performance against Wigan at the Etihad yesterday) but am more just annoyed at this United team.

Fergie's decision making has been errant at best, some of our best players from last season have been terrible this year (Valencia, Young), RVP's form has inexplicably dropped off a cliff and Rooney looks disinterested.

Couple that with the few true bright spots all being ignored by management : Kagawa, Chicarito's form, Jones as CB, Cleverley burning out etc I'm just at a loss.

The biggest 'stars' of our season have been De Gea and Rafael. Which is awesome, but man, would love to see us actually show up sometime soon.

Interesting, top forward passes in Europe this year:

Welbeck nominated. What's your take?

From my pov, the best young player at Utd this season has been Raphael, not Welbeck

Well.. bless the lad he tries his best don't he? But you can't rate a player for a award best on the fact he ran around a bit, his inclusion is a mistake and probably a stab at some English pride. There are other young players in the league who are more deserving Rafael of United, Nastasic at City, Cleverley (before his burn out)and even McCarthy at Reading.

In fact, McCarthy has not been praised nearly enough. Prior to the 5 month lay off he was being tipped for a England place and since his return.. well that game at Liverpool is a fine example of what he can achieve. Maybe its the injury that stopped him being included, but Wilshere got in makes you wonder really.

I think our best young player is De Gea. But what do I know ;)

No way Welbz should be on that list. He's had an underwhelming season - was better last year.

I still think he might suddenly 'click' and become a genuinely class player because his all around game is remarkable for someone so young, but unless he goes to finishing school this summer I don't know what to make of him.

Hazard..? Has played what, 8 matches well this season?

The biggest shock of all is that Carrick actually made it on the list. Mind. Blown.

De Gea, wow.. I can't believe he slipped my mind! Probably because the critiscism he receives is expected of a 33 year old keeper! He should definately be in that list.

Hazard has been excellent in the games vs anyone outside the top 6, with the exception of the United FA cup game, but doesn't warrant a place in the players of the year. He's not lived up to that £32million price tag, and a part of me is pleased of that, probably cause United missed out on him.

De Gea has grown throughout the season, he was a bit shaky at the start which was obviously blown out of proportion but still.

Rafael is the most deserving of the YPOTY nomination from our lot IMO.

Yep, strange one. English/Attacking player bias I'm guessing.

Aye, don't understand the Welbeck nomination at all. He is having a decent season but nothing close to being worthy for being on that list. I agree that Rafael would've been a better pick in his stead.

From a purely United standpoint however I agree with the vote for De Gea. Considering the shit he got during the first half of the season, it is impressive how he seemed to use it as motivation and instead turn it into a (IMHO) standout season. Hope he sticks around for a long time yet..he could end up being named in the same breath as the Schmeichels and Van der Sars of the world.

Apparently Fabio was seen driving away from Loftus Road at halftime today. Seems a bit petulant, but if I found that Tal Ben Haim was playing in front of me, I'd pretty much give up on life.

QPR going down is filling me with so much happiness:
1. Tried to buy their way to success and failed? Check
2. Bought by an owner that has no idea what he's doing? Check
3. Owner harshly fired manager with little justification? Check
4. Harry Redknapp comes in talking sh*t and achieving nothing? Check
5. Lazy sh*ts couldn't be bothered to play 5 minutes at the end of last season? Check

So cheers for the memories QPR. Enjoy having the largest wage bill in Championship history. Oh and make sure you oil up the hinges, cause 'Arry is going to be out your door so quickly at the end of the season it might break the sound barrier.

 Karma is a bitch isn't it, those celebrations with City last season, I wonder who'll be celebrating on final day this year ;))

Oh aye, forgot about Warnock.

Still, as much as I like the bloke, his PL track record is 100% relegation isn't it?

I think their mistake was hiring Hughes

Heard Januzaj could make the step up to either our first team next year or have a spell out on loan, I have heard a lot about him but don't know too much. Wondered if you guys had seen more of him? Or if Gerd could give us some in sight on the little Belgian?

Where's Webb?

Haha, I'll just laugh that off.

Hope we won't f it up against Villa tomorrow. Clinching it at Old Trafford tomorrow would be fuckin epic. If today's City result and tomorrow s prospect doesn't finally get our guys out of the post Madrid slump, I don't know what will.

He's very inexperienced, but is a f*cking talent. I've seen a bunch of him in the youth/reserves, where he's often out of position as a striker. Lovely balance and 'sees' the game well.

Reminds me a lot of Ravel around that age. Looks a step above.

But, I've now been super excited about (big) Dave Jones, Rossi, Morrison and Pogba at youth level. Hardly a great track record.

Interestingly, neither Welbz or Cleverley were standouts.

Just when you think Piers Morgan couldn't get any more bitter about RvP moving to Utd...

Hey @luis16suarez - any chance you could pop down to the Emirates next Sunday to join Van Pursestrings' guard of honour?

:SNACK:

 It will be a bit amusing watching Arsenal at the Emirates giving a guard of honor to a newly crowned 'Champion' in RVP :D

Need to do the business tomorrow now!
