Manchester United Thread

Not sure about that, I don't think he has Anderson's engine or even the range of passing from Anderson, he reminds me more of a Carrick or Yaya Toure.
Actually, a Giggs comparison wouldn't be that bad, in terms of both being former wingers who were converted to central roles, both left footed, both excellent dribblers.

Obviously, Dembélé's far more powerful physically but his situation is similar to when Giggs first played there alongside a purely defensive player (O'Shea), while Dembélé has Diarra doing the majority of the defensive work alongside him.

I'd say that a hybrid of Giggs and Carrick makes sense, doesn't matter now since he's off to Spurs. We'll just have to spend 30M on him in 2 years.

Apparently Zenith want to throw 35mln E for Nani... I would grab it and get more consistent winger. Maybe Gaitan? Or some Udinese guy? (Alexis Sanchez for Barcelona does brilliantly after all :P) And they have some talented guys there.

Dunno. Nani and Young although good players on their days are way too inconsistent in United :(. Sad, but true.

I'd keep Nani, over anyone. On his best days he's probably the best winger in the league: read it again before you "he's not the best in the league, I said on his best days!
And even when he's having an average run of form we'd be struggling to find some one to replace him.

I can't see a reason why anyone would want him gone, apart from Berba and Macheda we shouldn't be looking to lose anyone just add one CM.

I'll be absolutely distraught if we lose Nani. He's so much better than Young it's painful to ponder, and if he left we'd be down to just the 2 true wingers. And we might have to play Giggsy there. *shudders*

I think Berba should sign somewhere tomorrow - most likely Fiorentina. Seems a good fit for him. I don't honestly believe anyone will buy Macheda, so I'd love to see him loaned out, along with Bebe, and possibly a few of the young'uns like Lingaard, Cole and Cofie.

Squad looks about done, just that pesky defensive midfield issue. Wonder if Fletcher is doing better than we assume.

That or Fergie is just obstinate.

Cofie is out at Sheffild United I think!
The others would be good to see Fergie Snr use hi link with Fergie Jnr again to take on some of the players, the way he likes to play the game if we can get our players in that mind set it would elpnour plans :P

Fletch has managed 90minutes (I think) twice for the Under 21's/Reserves team which is good news, I reckon he'll be back by October/November time which is a lot better than previously hoped :)

As for Nani, if he does and we don't use some of the money to buy a CM then I would have finally lost hope in Fergie in terms of transfers, he seems I get everything else right except that one damn transfer.

Care to explain what that word means? :P

The problem with Nani is that it's an undeniable fact that he needs to be played on the right hand side.

Yes he can have good games of the left (Bayern at home 09/10) but they're few and far between. Give him a consistent run on the right and he'd be fantastic.

But then you have to consider that one of the best and most consistent wingers we've ever had plays there already, and he's just been given the number 7 shirt which is a clear display of just how highly thought of Valencia is so the chance of Nani being played on the right more often is pretty much non-existent.

I'd still take him playing inconsistently on the left over Young though, Ashley should be nowhere near our starting lineup.

Getting bored with the constant bullshit from the media that we're selling.. Well everyone!
Rooney to City, Rooney to PSG, Rooney to Real Madrid, Nani to Real Madrid, Nani to AC Milan, Nani to Zenit, Nani to Tottenham, Anderson to Porto, Anderson to Gremio, Anderson to Tottenham, Hernandez to Arsenal, Hernandez to Real Madrid, Hernandez to Inter, Berbatov to Sunderland, Berbatov to West Ham, Berbatov to Fiorentina, Berbatov to Malaga, Valencia to Real Madrid, Ferdinand to China, Ferdinand to America, Vidic to Inter, Vidic to AC, Vidic to Barcelona and finally Vidic to Real Madrid.

All of these have popped up so far, and all will continue to pop up, but only one would happen! The Berba deal!

Why the hell can't we just sell fucking Young.

I still don't get the Nani needs to play on the right stuff, its easier for him to play but playing on the left doesn't change much IMO other than him having a chance to cut in on his stronger foot.

And you settled it either way by saying he's much better than Young their so whatever.

The most frustrating things about Ashley Young are;

1.He often passes the ball back than raid with it forward. Tends to play it safe most of the time too.

2.Known for his ability on the dead balls and crosses, not so consistent in reality.

3.Has that 'diver' tag on him already.

4.Too predictable at times.

His predictability does my head in, I've nothing against the guy he's capable of great crossing and some spectacular shooting, but the cutting inside onto his right foot every time is infuriating.

Was hoping he'd work on that since he's been with us, but I've noticed no progression as of yet.

And hes going to Fulham, Just after Demebele signs for Spurs.Could of done player plus cash deal... Fergie y u no buy cm?

I have a theory, that Fergie has developed selective senile dementia and each week he imagines that Roy Keane is still at the club but we have just sold van Nistelrooy and so instead of a midfielder, we need a striker.. And it won't be until he finally retires/passes away (seriously, he will still be in charge 2 weeks after he dies at this rate) we will finally get a centre midfielder.

and then on deadline day we sign kaka on loan (which i very much doubt we will).

Kaka is said to be moving to Brazil or Galatasaray. He has no intention of going to England.

And Spurs (who should have LESS money than us :P), are close on signing Lloris and Moutinho. FFS!

Everyone around is getting stronger. Chelsea will be awesome this year (despite lacking proper backup striker), Arsenal may hit form any moment, Liverpool squad doesn't look half bad (and now they got Sahin on loan), Tottenham under AVB are getting rebuilt to fit his style with 2 holding midfielders, Everton made some clever buys, then you have no easy Stoke, Sunderland, Swansea (Michu! So far best transfer in league haha).

Seriously, if Ferguson thinks, the league is still composed of 4 big clubs and the rest who follows, he is mistaken. There are no more easy games in EPL. You need hard work, constant pressure and creativity to be on top.

City last season won, because of two factors. Great physical preparation and PACE. They ripped us to shreds on PACE alone (their players just looked 2x faster than ours <lol>).

Harsh to say that, but I'm glad Sir Alex served Man Utd for 25 years however, I do feel he needs to retire so the ship starts flowing again. Hire someone who sees where team needs to improve (defense and midfield are crucial to backup :P).

Oh well. This season will be fun to watch no doubts. I just hope Sheikhs don't win the title again... :D

The WUM is powerful with this one

So you finished level with Man City who spent billions of pound on new players last season, have won countless silverware last 20+ seasons but you want Ferguson to retire?

You are not true Utd supporter saying that.

You've got a point.

Though fresh approach and view is needed at times.

I still believe Ferguson is a legend and will never be forgotten for what he has done at United.

The problem is, last season the whole league done poorly. City should have snapped the title way before, but fumbled the chance to give United the chance to approach them (we even took them over with 8 points advantage, but yeah, lost it and lost title on GD).

To be fair, this season should be much better. All teams around got stronger after all. Do not underestimate the little ones I say ;).

(Swansea is super fun to watch)

Let's roll :D. Sorry, if above post has offended someone. Was little pissed off so many good midfielders go around in league yet nothing happens United end :(.

The only reason we got anywhere near the title last year with the squad and injuries that we had was SAF.

He's earnt the right to carry on or go whenever he wants.

If we get better luck with injuries (or really, if we sack our fitness team and get someone in who actually knows what they're doing) then there's no reason why we can't do well on all fronts this season.

Not that we'll ever get better luck with injuries, how the hell is our back four fucked yet again? At the start of the season as well...

So, a group we could come out first from, just hope we don't underestimate the abilities of the other teams like last year.

Manchester Utd
Braga
Galatasaray
Cluj

We should beat Braga and Cluj both home and away, Galatasaray might be a struggle away by I can't see us losing. Should easy be 5 wins and a draw.
