Manchester United Thread

I think that should improve this season with the added firepower in Kagawa and RVP, we should have to many options on the field for teams not let one moment slip through.

And your all being silly regarding Nani, he's nowhere near that inconsistent, I think its got to the point he'll never shake that off unless he literally becomes Ronaldo. Surely Rooney's the same by that logic?

Nani tends to be..

Average/Amazing/Average/Average/Awful/Amazing/Amazing/Average/Average/Awful/Average/Amazing/Average/Amazing/Awful

But when he is amazing, he really can be incredible.

Put a few more awfuls in there and swap the amazings for good and you could be talking about Walcott :)).....maybe give him a couple of very goods actually, I'm being too harsh.

We should do a swap Nani For Walcott? :COAT:

Walcott can have a Amazing, maybe once near the middle of the season, just before the transfer window.. And the whole of England will jizz, Barca will want him and the world bows down to the latest English superhero -.-

Nani for Walcott? This would be the worst deal United could make; aside from signing random 5th division footballers of course.

Personally I would drop rooney and play kagawa behind RVP. Rooney has got to be the most overrated and incosistent player there is. He can barely control a ball, beat a defender and his passing at best is average yet he will play every game and Berbatov wont get a look in.

And somehow despite that, he's led the league in combined scoring and assists over the last 5 seasons.

Remarkable.

Your overplaying it but you could easily be describing Rooney their also.

Both can be a bit patchy in form but for the most part deliver quite consistently, especially when it comes to Assists and Goals.

Rooney gets lots of penalties though , and bans too lol. Rooney had a great start last season and ppl expect that to continue. £200k is for something.... I think vs Everton he had a bad day. A beautiful cross by kagawa and the ball hits his shoulder.

Lampard will get 15 pens and score 10. You heard it here 1st.

It's time for 'media says it so it's true' mythbusters!

Myth 1 - Before last season (when admittedly, I believe we had 8 penalties) United had been given the 2nd lowest number of penalties of all teams in the league in the past 4 seasons.

Myth 2 - Rooney picked up a single card last season - a yellow - in the final game of the season.

I agree, Rooney is very overrated. He is such a frustrating player to watch....

Man Utd have underrated gems though. Carrick is one of my favourite players in England football.

Valencia is old fashioned winger, so scary for defenders now with new rules (not allowing to touch a player) and he takes advantage of this. Love the player.

But Rooney....No. Play RVP instead with the Japanese Iniesta behind him.

But Ferguson wont do this.

Well we certainly need a performance on Saturday - against a Fulham side that look pretty good themselves. If we drop 3 points we'll already be 6 points behind the leaders! Cripes.

I hope Fergie works out a way for us to get the most out of our talent. And perhaps moreoever, I pray he actually plays players in their 'real' positions. If Evans is back, then things become much more encouraging:

----------------De Gea------------------
--Rafael-----Vidic------Evans----Evra---
----------Carrick---Cleverley-----------
-----Valencia---Kagawa----------Nani----
----------------Rooney------------------

No room for welbz, rvp or hernandez. Madness.

Rooney's quality but his bottom level is quite embarrassing, on Monday he looked like a pub player, he's clearly brilliant though overall.

regarding RVP and Kagawa in behind, I can see that happening, I think

---------RVP--------
Kagawa>-<Rooney-Nani is the way to go, Kagawa and Rooney both rotating that spot.

Van Persie will start Ryan.

Oh Dear your number mixing are looking dodgy , I was being sarcastic, Arsenal had '0' pens last season ,Mutd has always gotten a good amount of pens. lowest compare to who? the reserve league ?

Question my myth busting? I was exagerrating a bit indeed, but I meant of top teams.

2006/7 - 2010/11 - Penalties for:
Arsenal: 33
Chelsea: 32
Liverpool: 27
Man City: 28
Man United: 28

Last season United had 11, City had 8 and Arsenal had only 3.

In the 04/05 and 05/06 seasons, United had almost the fewest in the league.

your argument is impressive by 2006-2011

http://www.football-lineups.com/tourn/FA_Premier_League_2011-2012/Stats/ I don`t remember a single penalty although it said '2' but Rooney had 6, that`s more than anyone in the league ffs Myth-busters my arse! :P Check out Everton more scorers than anyone. Look at Arsenal more scorers than most and I thought Rvp was the only goal poacher (he just made the most important w/ Henry too)

Surely Berbatov and Macheda will be gone? They literally gave no use, why didn't Arsenal want Berba thrown in to the RVP Deal?

Rooney is an absolute class of a player... U people are nuts. He is an all around footballer, touch, vision, power, pace, tracks back on d, scores... Everything far from overated

I'd be more reluctant to drop him than Nani at the moment. He usually takes a few games to get going, so nothing to worry about (yet!)

Sounds like no Evans tomorrow, so Evra may be moved to CB. Wonder if Alex Buttner will start at LB, or if we'll stick Rafael there with Big Tony staying (bloody hope not) at RB...
Jones is back in training, so hopefully he'll be back in the next week or 2 as well.

Wouldn't mind seeing this team tomorrow:
-----------DDG------------
Rafael--Vida--Evra--Buttner
------Carrick--Clevs------
Valencia--Rooney--Kagawa
-----------RVP-----------

Tap-ins and penalties have masked how poor rooney's overall game is and has been for about 2 years now.
He needs to be dropped to the bench just so he can re-evaluate his game and regain that edge he used to have.

yes last year he had 35 goals in 44 appearances, all were either tap-ins or penalties, and they are not considered quality cause they are only worth a half goal apparently...

for the love of god at least have some sort of quality reason why you say he is overated. Any fucking manager in the world, on any fucking team would want that goal scoring record.. tap ins or penalties... get a clue mate

Though I can agree that his touches and such were bad in Everton game, I can say the same about Scholes in first half (so many mistakes!).

Rooney in top form is hard to stop and every manager around knows about it.

He might not have the best technique in the World (he is no Ronaldo/Ronaldinho), but he gives his ALL FOR THE CLUB. There are hardly ANY players like that anymore. Rooney tracks back to get the ball, helps in developing offensive actions, etc.

I would definitely love it if he was used as proper Center Forward, but our midfield is lacking. If it wasn't Rooney wouldn't have to drop as deep to get the f**king ball back -.-

Messi and Ronaldo have warped people's expectations of consistency and productivity.

Rooney will never reach that level of productivity but he's still a very good player for us.

I guess a lot of fans haven't forgiven him for the contract saga of 2010 either, which is fair enough.
