Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

We have a pretty awful record at Ewood park. Think coming out of this weekend having not lost ground on City wouldn't be terrible - certainly didn't expect them to draw against S'Land.

Kind of a big test of our title ambitions. If Fergie sticks Park or Giggs in the starting XI I'm going to blow a casket.

Don't think our records that bad! If my memory serves me we've only lost there once in the last 5yrs, had a couple of draws though.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Obviously if we win the next two we'll be in a great position - BUT - I don't think QPR or Blackburn are 'in the bag' type matches. If Taraabt has finally worked out where hte goal is, he's a danger, plus Zamora for some reason has terrorized our defence in the past.

Couple that Blackburn's seeming jinx over us away and could be nervy times.

If, however, we get to kick-off at Arsenal City with an 8 point lead, we'll obviously be firmly in the driving seat.

Not close to done and dusted yet, nor do I believe our team is so good that we shouldn't be worried. We're still massively dependent on Scholes and Carrick staying fit for the next month, not to mention there's a tournament in 3 months and Rooney has yet to do his metatarsal...

Completely Agree, could draw on Monday, and then even win the next week but if City get a big win at the Emirates then its 3 points and they'll take that going into Eastlands. We need to take advantage and be 8 clear before they next kick off.

Regarding Wayne's injury, it doesn't matter he misses the group and England might be out once hes eligible to return.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

O ye of little faith

They'd better be fired up for tonight, because I bloody am, can't wait.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Massive banana skin tonight.

I just don't trust us when we play at Ewood.

Hope for the worst and anything else is a surprising bonus.

Exactly how I feel. No idea what goes wrong when we get to Ewood.

We're playing 3 in the middle, which is kind of surprising. Might have Jones on for added height in challenges.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Really poor first half from us. No idea what is up with our formation, very lop-sided to the right. Blackburn defending in numbers and letting us attack as we're not creating anything.

Some great saves from De Gea though, very worrying to see us giving up the better chances despite the play.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Luis Antonio Valencia Mosquera, I love you!

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Actually thought was played well, but so did Blackburn, they looked more threatening in front of goal, whereas we had far more possession but lacked the conviction needed in the final third. Valencia was whipping in balls left, right and centre, but I think he got fed up of no-one getting on the end of it, so he just smacked it in himself :D.

What a massive result!

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Well I stand (or sit) corrected. Blackburn defended excellently and created the better chances until our goals.

Rio's tackle right before Tony's goal was absolutely game saving. Go on, give him back the captaincy.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

okay our home record has been a shock to us this season....

but 12 wins at home and 12 away with only three losses is a good shout for the tile this time of year....

the results will deflect away from the performances, especailly after the derby where we seemed to be back to basics with 1-0 wins...

still away to go tho...

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

They said during my coverage that United now have more points than one season we won the title (!!!)

think i read we won title with 79 points, may have even been the treble year and we only lost 3 games that season, but drew 13.

yep was 99 season

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

WOOO! Went nuts when Valencia scored but was definetly confident we'd be scoring (was getting slightly nervous maybe 30 seconds prior to the goal though) late on.

Great determination from the lads and that felt like a "moment" today, I think were very close. :))

Been a great day :))

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I'll take any kind of title I can get ;)

Need to do the business against QPR on Sunday. Imagine City watching in the dressing room at Emirates and we win? Alternatively, imagine if we screw up!

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

City will beat Arsenal IMO, but if we head into eastlands 5 clear I think can't see us losing that one and would think we'd be favourates to win their.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Rafael for me was very very good against Blackburn...That was what, his 4th match in a row without being subbed or injured?!

Andy Townsend was the pundit during the halftime team talk and he was making all sorts of drawing and movements on the screen....and he said,of all the things Valencia could have done...was not to shoot! Hahaha!

Massive massive win for us...

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Prediction for next week:

Arsenal 2 Manchester City 1
Manchester United 3 QPR 1

Well we lost 1-0 away there that was a very lucky gol a bit off sides imo. Arsenal has played very well at home. They will need to attack lots and that can play into Arsenal's hand. We need the win too, but this could play for a draw if Mancini feels a draw is better then we'll play into their hands and might sneak a victory for them. All to play for make it very edge I just hope their pressure will cause lots of opportunities for us.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Right, I've ripped the sleeves off a red t-shirt and i'm wearing a white shirt underneath.

Arsenal fan for a day.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Busy period of fixtures starting Sunday:

08 Apr Barclays Premier League Queens Park Rangers H
11 Apr Barclays Premier League Wigan Athletic A
15 Apr Barclays Premier League Aston Villa H

& City:

08 Apr Barclays Premier League Arsenal A
11 Apr Barclays Premier League West Brom H
14 Apr Barclays Premier League Norwich City A

Could have a completely different league table by the end of Saturday next week.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Yeah, it's worrying. Not sure how the squad will deal with 3 games in a week - fearing a Park/Giggsy starting combo which = loss in one of them.

I'd like to see us full strength on Sunday, put the pressure on City, then deal with the other matches as they come.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Soooo nervous for today. What could be a huge day for us...I just don't see it happening. It's not the United way - we always make it hard on ourselves.

Hoping for a good performance at least!

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Get it together man! *Slap and Shake*

But seriously, I think we'll be OK, Im happy with the team and we are on form I am slightly worried Taraabt might turn it on but we should control it.

BELIEVE!

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

What a stupid decision, linesman/ref ruin another game.

Although, I thought we started well and QPR were sitting back, so for me it was only going to end one way, but still...
