Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Regardless of whether this decision was right or not, surely a penalty is enough of a punishment?

Also, Ashley Young looks to go down too easily and I don't like that about him. People criticise Nani a lot for that, but I don't see that from him nearly as often these days.

The big two-oh looms large.

Not done yet but very close.

Just need to keep winning as we have been, we've been absolutely magnificent since the turn of the year.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Disappointed with the linesman - such a clear offside. Also hope they change the red card rule next season - it's too much of a punishment for a defender just trying to do his job.

And Young did go to ground super easily - he's always been like that. Not nice to see.

The only thing I will say about it is if he was about to hit that with his left foot (and I don't think he was) than even that little push from the defender is a foul preventing a goal scoring opp.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Good day, but it's not over till it's over.

Wenger on United: "When a horse smells his stable, it is difficult to stop them"

Man United are ridiculous, how do they keep doing it?! and Man City have bottled it this season.

Strange how I prefer Man United to win it, but it is just better for the game that you guys win the league.

It's more or less yours now, well done.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I'm gonna watch MOTD just to see what the pundits will make of that. It was disgraceful from Ashley Young, similar to other times when Rooney did it. I just wanna see if an Englishman will get the same amount of stick a Nani or Suarez do for cheating like that.
Plus, Young was offside, wasn't he?

It was painful to watch how Wigan got ripped off with Chelsea's 2 offside goals. This weekend it seems the big clubs had it their way alright.

Regardless of how it happens, I'm just happy it is United to win the title, instead of City. You can't buy class. I liked what I saw today from Arsenal, sort of a message to City: you threw loads of money on transfer and wages, now you're having the season of your life, good for you. You had a nice run, but it stops here.
All of this doesn't make you a big team overnight. You can't come to North London with some of our ex-players and even though it's a star-studded squad, when you come to the Grove, you're in for a hard time!

Anyways, it's United's title now I reckon.
It will be interesting to see what your noisy neighbours will do after failing to win the PL and being knocked out of the CL in the group stages. The behaviour of heavy spending wasn't rewarded in the way they expect. Will they increase their spend next season?

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Well, Salvage said he cheated too and dove  then called Ashley a cheat. I felt for Mancini he had no choice but be apologetic for Mario`s tackle on Song. Imagine if we played 10 men City for over an hour and a side line ref in our pocket :P

Great day, and number 20 is on the horizon. I hope we wrap it up in style at Eastlands. :))

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Well it was absolutely a dive, even the most blinded of United fans would admit it, and it was also completely offside but I'm a firm believer that such decisions aren't just limited to us and are spread out evenly throughout a year.

It just so happens that a decision like that is a pivotal moment in the league chase for us.

Well so what, QPR were holding out slightly against us before the red card but it didn't reallly change the flow of the game in anyway.

Scholesy at least would probably have struck and we'dve been looking at three points anyway.

The referee/linesmen should've done their job properly and Ashley Young is a disgrace but still, this is what happens in football. Not Uniteds fault that we were able to take advantage of it when every other team/player would've done the same.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

From my seat it looked like a pen...

watched the replay and was shocked how wrong the ref had got it...

but then i remembered a ton of other decisions that the officials have fecked up this season, funnily enough not all in uniteds favour....

Its ours for the taking now, 20 titles, would take a huge fuck up to throw it away...

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

this proves no money in world can build mentality during short time.. even if United play Scholes in midfield who is a retired player, he still produces more than Yaya Toure or anyone right when it matters..this is what i envy of United, but it needed time.. wonder how the team will look in post-Ferguson era.. becouse Ferguson is someone who build this United, this is his 4th or 5th team and same mentality..even if i played for them in attack i would be more team player than Balotelli :D

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

For all the injury problems we had throughout this season...this impending title makes it all sweeter.Unbelievable.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

i feel sorry for the next manager who takes over utd once Fergie goes

damn he has installed something special in that club - with the players/squad you had, injuries at the back etc you should not be winning the league.

but something fergie does with the club drives you to the top.

madness..

no other manager would of won the league with that squad, no chance...

you do need to start building for when fergie goes though that is for sure, owners will have to spend some money..

hope he retires soon lol

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

IF we get the points we need and do indeed win the title, this will be one that's attributed largely to Fergie, no question about that.

I think most United fans had labelled this season as a transitional one, so if we come out on top and in the process halt City's march, it would be truly special and possibly his best title yet.

But i'm a bit reluctant to consider it won yet, for one it's disrespectful to the teams we've yet to play, so whilst it's still mathematically possible for it go wrong I won't be celebrating and I hope the players share my thoughts, with the experience we have I can't imagine they'll rest on their laurels though.

I agree Wilko but its more just how shot City look, We might drop some points but I can see City doing the same.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Big night again tonight. 3 points please.

A bit worried we've started Giggsy and Carrick together against Moses. He was excellent in the past two matches at running through the midfield and at the back 4 - something he should have more than enough space to do tonight with such a relatively immobile pair.

Hernandez needs to step up. Was so clutch last year, but hasn't been amazing so far this season.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I'm sure I've read Carrick often covers more ground than any other United player, but I get your point, that was what was so exciting about the early season pairing of Anderson and Cleverley, the energy they brought to the side, it was great to watch.

Good to see Nani on the bench.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Missed the first half but hearing it was a good one to miss, 39% possession against Wigan and no coincidence Paul Scholes isn't playing. We will really need to spend big money in the Summer to reconstruct the midfield.

Hopefully we'll be better in the 2nd half.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I think Fergie is secretly a Wigan fan, and is doing his part tonight.

Title race back on. We've been abysmal and will get nothing from this match.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Wowsers, Utd are gash, if you don't score against Gary Caldwell, I think Fergie should hand in his books. Feck SPL cast-offs are easing to victory against supposedly England's top team..................brass neck.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

 Well that didn't work out too well.

Race is back on so all the ABU's live another day.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

It's one of the joys of being a United fan, doing it the hard way.

Wigan were awesome for 70 minutes, but still scored off a corner that blatantly, and clearly wasn't a corner. And then didn't concede a stonewall penalty. But of course, that won't be mentioned because it doesn't fit in the conspiracy theories.

Still, we were terrible, Fergie was terrible, Giggs put in the kind of performance that makes me wish he retired so he wouldn't tarnish his legacy and we couldn't do sh*t.

BUT.

We're still 5 points up and every single United fan in the world would have taken this position 6 weeks ago.

he got something not many managers get especially in today´s football: time + faith despite bad results + his mentality is a winner mentality..combine this and you have good chance to build something.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

We deserved that for some of the premature celebrations.

Credit to Wigan, they pressed us and we came unstuck again.
