Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

i´m not picking on anyone, i only think the ref made a bad mistake.. don´t know what he was thinking..

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

What a ridiculous match,

City'll take heart from the comeback, we almost fucked it up.

Perfect opportunity to absolutely muller them and we threw it away and gave them confidence back.

Annoyed with a victory, strange.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Think the red card was harsh personally, but there's plenty of others (neutrals included) who think it was a red. I'm usually pretty disappointed with a red card that early in the game, it generally ruins any sort of contest. But credit to them they fought well, tactically Mancini got it spot on in the 2nd half and it was a decent game.

But at the end of the day we're in the next round, and that's all that matters.

Huge grin on my face when Scholesy came on, but i'd honestly prefer it if he played in a more advanced position where he's less likely to be caught out by his lack of pace, but Fergie knows best.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I've never been so pissed after a victory against one of our greatest rival.

Anderson is outrageaous. He just came on for 30 minutes and he was barely running, if at all. At that part where City could have got a penatly for Jones' handball, he was lazily looking at Milner getting himself into a crossing position. This for me sums up his attitute since he's joined United. He's so unfit and lazy at times that he never ever tries to get the ball back. I've never seen in him that passion that some of our other players have. People have been saying how lazy Berbatov is but if you actually look at him you can see how he tries his best to recover the ball, and how pissed he is when others aren't making the effort to press forward. Ando just looks like he doesn't even care one bit.

I can't wait for Cleverley to be back. Unlike Anderson, he always seems to be giving his everything.

Scholes was clearly rusty, but seeing him back today gave a smile to my face. I hope we'll be able to see him in fighting shape soon.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

That unfair red card destroyed this match literally. Even though I'll have to give huge credits to Man City players for showing great spirits on that come back. Man City once again showed their supremacy against their bitter rivals and if it wasn't for that red card they could've easily won the match.
Anyway, good luck to ManU, I hope in the fourth round Liverpool will be drawn against United, so that we can get the job done and clean the trash.

I cant believe it! is this some sort of dream!

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

4th round:

Liverpool - Manchester United

lol.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

City away then Liverpool away, and it's only the 4th round!

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

the red card was a joke.
Totally agree, a shocking decision. Nani didn't even go over. A yellow card at best for "dangerous play" but if that was a red then god help us (there were "worse" tackles thereafter not even punished). If I was Chris Hoy, the Olympic cyclist abused by Tottenham fans on Twitter over Foy's (slight namesake) previous bad performance the other week, I'd be closing that Twitter account right now save more ear burning from hundreds of irate Manc's! He had a shocker. Ruined the game as a spectacle for me. Man U were clinging on in the end I thought. As for the draw, well I had a feeling for some reason that Liverpool and Man United would get drawn together. I told a few mates "bet them two come out of the hat". And they did.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

MY DREAM CAME TRUE, THNX FUCK !!!! CAN'T WAIT TO SEE LIVERPOOL TEAR MAN UTD APART !!!

Well don´t be so sure about the tearing apart thing :D United have their big quality even with many injured players..

i think it will be a final like match.. hopefully without bad referees..

Win for LFC and at anfield in FA Cup would be fantastic..

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Obviously not pleased we let them back into the match, but people complaining about the red card are (unsurprisingly) either Liverpool fans or City fans (not that there are enough of them to notice really).

In Italy or Spain that's a red and no one bats an eye. 3 years ago an identical tackle by Pogatz of Middlesborough ended our Brazilian Possebon's career (for all intensive purposes). Those tackles have been banned for a reason. If you go in straight legged with your foot 6 inches above the ground, studs showing, and you connect with an attackers planted foot you will break their leg. See Eduardo for evidence. Hence, I'd of thought, we'd be in favour of banning them.

But hey, it helped United so it must be a conspiracy, or United get all the luck (no comments on the second clear as day penalty on Valencia in the second half? Hrm...).

It just baffles me having left the tribalism of the UK that football fans are so bitter. It's not like that in North America with any of their major sports. There's rivalry, but none of this pettiness that pervades football.

Anyway, the 'random' draw has given us Etihad away and Anfield away. Next thing you know Liverpool fans will be calling (as they do when United get an easy draw) that Fergie sorts that out too...

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

definitely a red card, dunno what kompany was planning? two foot with studs up & off the ground. just because nani didnt go to the floor crying doesnt mean it wasnt a bad challenge..

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

United always get easy draws...

Anyone else think this should be played behind closed doors?

With everything that's gone on between the two clubs, it's gonna be murder between the fans. Don't think the FA realise what they've done...

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

A quick peek at RAWK by the police would see a similar thing. Liverpool fans are seeing this as a chance to 'take justice into their hands'. That said, I'd love Fergie to field:

--------------De Gea-------------
-Smalling---Rio----Fryers--Evra--
-----------Ando---Pogba----------
----Valencia--------------Nani---
--------Welbeck----Diouf---------

;)

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Bit annoyed with Scholes coming back. I bought this year's away kit and got his name on the back with his number of appearances for the number (676), now he's gone and ruined it.

Great to see him back though, didn't look out of place except for a couple mistakes.

I think Suarez would explode if he saw a team like that.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

:DD What a day?! Didn't now Scholes had come out of retirement until I saw him warming up WTF?!

Great win even though we unfortunately missed the opportunity to hurt their confidence.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Great seeing Scholesy back, but I can't help thinking we brought him on far too early. Would have preferred Rooney to drop deep & bring on Hernandez to make use of the extra man. But, a win is a win so hopefully it'll kick start us now.

As for the red card - both feet off the ground & studs up = sending off.
It's deemed as being out of control, which if I recall correctly was the same reason that Jay Spearing was sent off this season? Micah Richards made an identical challenge in the second half, but because it wasn't given, nothing was said about it.
As for Kompany claiming that City won the moral victory, you can have as many of those as you want mate. We'll take squeaky bums wins over that any day.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I remember thinking at half time that we've got the opportunity to absolutely destroy them and yet there is absolutely no chance that we will, we'll sit back and it's exactly what happened.

People underestimate the power of psychology. They'll be thinking they're much better than us now because they pulled it back to 3-2 and had us on the ropes versus us absolutely crumbling and losing 6-1 in the same situation.

Tactical masterclass from Mancini aside, I've no idea why we were so different in the second half. Why do we always get complacent after a good start? I really wish we'd go for the throat more often but it never happens.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I really cant remember the last time we looked like conceding each time we are under attack.
I dont know how the defence got it together in the last 30mins of the game but they did.
Its fair ground now for the keepers position.Apart from one flying save, Lindegaard didnt look as solid as before.
Danny Welbeck has slowly but surely claim his spot upfront with Rooney. He is better than Hernandez, works harder and faster than Berbatov and is fit as a bull.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

So, Bolton this weekend. Ando is clearly back but not fit, and sounds like Gibbo might be off to Everton (he'll do well imo, and at £1m that'd be a steal). Which would leave us with Carrick/ Scholes/ Giggsy/ Anderson as fit midfielders. I'll try to ignore the fact that two of them are over 37...

We really need a win. Dropped 6 points in 2 games in the league, have Spurs level and City still up by 3 (and playing Wigan). That said, with Davies up front I fear it's going to be long ball fun for Evans and Smalling to deal with. And we know how that goes. (because Rio is sick).

Hoping Fergie goes for a full strength team, and puts De Gea back in there:

--------------De Gea-----------
--Jones---Smalling-Evans-Evra--
-------Carrick----Anderson-----
-------------Rooney------------
----Valencia----------Nani-----
------------Welbeck------------

But knowing Fergie this season it'll probably feature 3 goalkeepers in the outfield, with Giggs and Scholes as centre backs and Rooney as left back.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Fergie on Morrison - "His agent has been working hard to get him another club. We've offered him terms which he has refused. We've rejected an offer from Newcastle. We'll see how that progresses. His demands are unrealistic as far as we're concerned."

I love what football has become.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

And this came from a player who has not made a premiership debut let a lone a full game in the United first team eh? Sell him off.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

What is wrong with these kids? Especially Morrison, who we've developed through the youth academy.

18, no senior team debuts and you don't want a contract at the biggest club in the country.

Nice.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Also, just saw Fergie's injury updates..Friggin hell! If he's to be believed (yeah...) these are the current players injured:

Defense: Rafael, Fabio, Vida, Rio, Jones, Smalling
Midfield: Cleverley, Anderson, Young, Fletcher

I mean...what are we doing to our defenders?!?!?!?!?

SAF is blaming the agent...
