Manchester United Thread

Theres also rumours of Davids, Batistuta, Rivaldo, and may other great players coming to the premiership. This season's gonna be great.

Another good thing is that all of our players played well in Euro 2004. That can only be good for us. Especially Ronaldo, who I think will definately want to put yesterday's defeat behind him (did we have to see him cry?).

Although i'm a man u fan, i think the gunners or chelsea will win it. I really don't think man u's midfield can really fight against Vieira or Steven Gerrad. I think Roy Keane will really struggle against them... but with Quieroz back on our side, maybe we have a bit of HOPE...

Well based on Euro2k4 neither player you mentioned looked anything special, I think Keano will have a better season, especially now he's back on the international scene, it will raise his game.

Other than that I'm confident that young Fletch and Miller will add alot of energy to our midfield this season.

And with Carlos back we can look forward to being tight at the back once again.

Another Ronaldo story.

Girls mob Ronaldo in the street but he treats them like dirtPortuguese pin-up Cristiano Ronaldo hides away from his female fans in Manchester because they are making his life hell. The teenage winger locks himself away to avoid the unwanted attention of his admirers. And when the eligible bachelor does venture out into the city, he disguises himself with dark glasses and a baseball cap pulled down over his face. His sister Liliana offers a revealing glimpse of Ronaldo's lifestyle and admits the United teenager is often too scared to leave his own home. She said: "He has no problem pulling the girls but he runs a mile when they come near him. He's suspicious, because they go up to him a lot now he is so well known. Since he arrived in Manchester last summer he has not had a steady girlfriend - he doesn't have time for that now.”

I should do regular updates on him.

Papertalk.

Everton are to tell Manchester United that they will not consider anything less than £30million for Wayne Rooney. United kicked off the softening-up process yesterday by publicly declaring that it is not their policy to pay '£45-50m' for one player. That was Everton's original price-tag for Rooney, but the Merseyside club are in no mood to let their prize asset leave for less than what would be a British record transfer fee. United remain favourites to open the bidding for real. There are moves within Old Trafford to raise the cash to table an offer for one of the stars of the European Championship.

well this ties in withwhat Gill said, a £30 mill bid isnt out of the question.

An attack force of Ruud, Rooney, Scholes, Giggs and Ronaldo with Saha and Smith covering is too good to pass up on...

Fergie sign him up!!

Rooney is pretty over hyped. I'm hoping we get a midfieder rather than Rooney.

i would be landed if we bought Rooney
what midfielder would you rather us get anyway?

Dude, thats really bull, since when you started supporting United??? Last season??? C'mon...we have more than hope...if you have doubts about the team you love,i suggest u change sides.

I really don't know who honestly, but we have enough cover (and quality) in attack and defense, but not completely covered in midfield. We really need someone who could replace Ryan Giggs (if thats even possible) on the left.

we really need a player who is creative!!! there were may occasions last season where man u looked far too unimaginative up front. that happended far too often...

thats why we need rooney
he is the type of striker who plays just off the main striker (Ruud) a la Teddy Sheringham, and offers something different which we do lack on occasions

i heard we were going to sign a guy called Pederson (sp?) or something like that , i believe he is norwegian anyway.
does anyone have a little info on this guy? is he a left winger?

Sometimes I just imagine what Ronaldinho would have given us if he didn't go to Barcelona.

Have you seen how well he plays for Barca? He's arguably better than Zidane.

hmm i might be wrong, he could be italian, just born in the US, ill search some more

well i looked a little more, he was born in the states and is a US citizen(he grew up in New Jersey, left for Italy when he was 12 or 13), he was capped by Italy at under-17 but that means nothing, he can still play for the US or Italy, i guess when he is old enough to play for the full national team he will make that decision, i cant imagine it will be a tough one, US vs Italy hmmmmmmmmmmmm, my bet is on Italia :), some speculation has made some sense, the US U-17 dont play unless its the world Cup, the Italian U-17 play in tournaments year round, so he might have done it just for the experience, anyways looks like a great signing for the Red Devils!

cheers for the extra info!
and yes you are dead right about the fact that Rossi has played for the u-19s / 17s doesnt really matter for the moment (i believe Kanoute played for France at youth level and now plays for Mali, anyway...)
lets not get ahead of ourselves anyway, lets just hope he continues to develop as a player and proves to be a sound investment in the coming years :D

apparently, rossi has only penned a 2 year contract.

anyone know if this is true?

Rooney has signed a new contract with Everton BTW, a record contract for Everton.

Phew!

Yeah. Just what we need right now.
But then again, he is only 16 so we probably won't see him play for atleast another 2 years.
