Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Typical United, I have no idea who we can be looking at in Midfield.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I think the point was, imagine how well we'd be doing if we werent bought on borrowed money. And the answer is VERY well. Financially speaking of course.

yeah i know what the point was but i was trying to highlight that whether we pay off debts or pay out massive dividends to chairman/shareholders, there is always someone taking money out of the club.

things that may have happened as plc:

ronnie would have been sold as soon as the offers for him were double/triple what we paid for him.

we would still have a rigid pay scale similar to arsenal, so alot of contracts that have been renewed may have sold to other clubs.

our business model and revenue has improved.

Dont get me wrong im not suggesting that its helped the club but i feel people are forgetting the plc days. they werent perfect either.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I think Fergie likes the control not being a plc gives him. He more or less gets what he wants, when he wants it - whereas before we (apparently) missed out on things while they had to wait for the board to get together and approve stuff.

But, it doesn't change the fact that even with shareholder dividends we wouldn't have pumped the best part of £500m down the drain on debt interest payments, which we have done under the Glazers.

The depressing thing is that we're not actually paying off the debt, just interest :(

yeah the stories of players we missed out on during the plc days are well known.

but keane had to fight for a pay rise in line with other top european clubs, after he had already led the team to prem trophies and a CL final...

there is a duality to it, because SAF had to answer to shareholders it kept the wage bill at a good % ratio to turnover.

but even after the treble had been won it was a couple of years before the team saw that money, best believe the board didnt wait that long.

also, would a board have supported SAFs loyalty to his golden trio of scholes neville and giggs?

well we have been really quiet until this summer, before that evra, vidic, nani, hargreaves and ando had all come in for big £££.

thats a ridiculous amount that citeh have spent tho, no wonder they need this fake deal with the arab owners uncle.

kinda like madrid city council buying the real madrid training ground for over £200mill and them buliding them a new one....

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

City are spending big, but they also recieve money..for Boateng it´s about 17 m. pounds i think..

for Tevez they get lot of money.. i think they will balance their spending..and in future they will only spend big on salary imo.. that´s the main reason players will choose to play for them..

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Why on Earth would Bayern pay that much for Boateng? That's crazy money for a player that clearly isn't all that happy where he is, and isn't that well regarded.

(I think he's quality, but had very few starts etc since joining)

difficult to see how they can do it at the moment, so many players on ridiculous wages and long contracts.

thats why they need this deal, other than that how would they generate revenues on par with top european clubs...

an fa cup and a place in CL group stage will not balance their books.

that´s definetly not crazy money in todays football, he´s afterall not much older to Jones you bought for the same money from Blackburn...besides Boateng is regarded as one of best young germany players.. before he moved to City..many big clubs incluidng Milan wanted him..

imo it´s great deal for Bayern, as they have LB or CB sorted for years..

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Looks like Nasri is going to City. What a pity imo, he can't be part of their first XI surely?

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Yes he can, I think the top 3 is a lock if they pull of Nasri and Aguero and expect them to challenge maybe.

----Toure-De-Jong---
------Nasri-------
-Silva-Balotelli-Aguero

first 11 is a myth ;)

maybe back 4 is solid in todays top teams, but the attacking and midfield players are rotated many times..

if City manage to buy this players it will make more of their top players not happy to seat on bench..

remember this are national players..and if they want to remind national players, they need to play..

if they are after other than money..

I'm not saying go back to a PLC. I meant having owners who actually had the money to buy the club. Like Man City, Chelsea, etc. With teams like them, they're constantly injecting more and more money to suceed where as with us the owners wouldnt need to be spending so much. And in time they'd make their money back from all the revenue we generate.

In other news, I hear bets on Sneijder joining us have been suspended...

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

We'll sign one.

Anderson, Carrick, Fletcher, Giggs + New Signing Should be enough for 2 positions and I think Pogba and Morrison (both 18) will add to that list in a season or two.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

The youngsters (De Gea, Jones, Smalling, Welbeck, Cleverly) just arrived in Seattle, so we should see them playing on Wednesday night (well, Thursday morning). Definitely feeling like there's been way too long between these friendlies in the states, players must be bored...

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

^ There's is such a long pause only between NERevolution and Seattle Sounders games. We will be playing at 8:00 p.m. GMT (21:00 in Poland) :) They are not bored, because they play golf, billard and such games :D I love the atmosphere in United, like a family. I haven't seen such an atmosphere in other club. That's why we are called "United" :)

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Just finished catching up on the match last night - definitely an odd one. We weren't all that impressive in terms of interplay and posession, but managed to win 7-0. So I'll take it, but odd.

Scary stuff being that the two midfields were Ando and Giggsy, then Ando and Park. Neither able to control the game, which to be fair I wouldn't expect them to be able to. Fergie needs to sort something out. Heard Vidal is off to Juve for under £10m...mental.

Obertan was pretty awesome in the second half when he came on. Created 4 goals and scored one - and is absolute lightning with the ball. I can't remember seeing a player outpace his defender so thoroughly. Still not sure Fergie is going to trust him with matches this season, but a mid-table club should absolute be sniffing around imo. There's some very real potential there for an attack-minded winger.

Also, Lindegaard and Amos were both excellent - De Gea might have a tough time!

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Anderson can control the game but I agree we need a midfielder. I'm not going to go batshit mad just yet but will see what position were in come match day 1.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Ando is fine if he's paired with another proper midfielder, but he doesn't work with Giggs or Park - who shouldn't be in there anyway.

I like him and hope he comes good, but I don't trust his knees enough to build a team around him.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Can`t wait to see Barca vs Mutd I`m not going to the match I know about 20 losers going w/o taking their kids to go  I said don`t believe all the hype about the player`s indiscretions it`s not the playmate hangouts ! If you brits realize your accents in the states will just have birds fall on their knees for you lots .
