Mafia 2

Maybe a good idea to put the images in spoiler tags? Especially as you're probably the only person here who cares about PC games anyway? ;)
 
Played the demo at a mates last night and was pissed off that the story ended the way it did just as we were getting into it :LOL:

Must buy for me this, Mafia is one of my favourite games. I'm looking forward to seeing what else you can do in the game as the demo only had shops, food outlets ect and only a few finishing moves when your hand to hand but even then they were pretty impressive

Yea rad if you ever get the funds for a pc build one man you will not regret it. Many games on consoles now come on the pc's. PC's have a very healthy library of games.
 
Played the 360 demo on my projector last night, really enjoyable :)

Tempted to try the PC demo as well, any trainer or such to remove the 10 min limit?
 
The PC version looks considerably better than its console counterparts. I found the demo to be very enjoyable. I hope people don't go into this game like GTA. Some may think its restrictive in the amount of things you can do but thats because the game is focusing on the narrative.

You can fill up gas! I hope cars stop when the tank empties. Will make chases more exciting if your running low on fuel. Looking really forward to the release now.
 
I'd have liked to have seen at least some kind of side missions. Like being able to rob stores or maybe even have the protection rackets that the Godfather games had where you start off having to protect them on your own and then later can hire and upgrade goons to guard it for you.

At least something to do other than missions would have been nice.

There are no side missions in the full game?
 
My understanding is not, which is a real shame IMO, what's the point of an open, living, breathing world if there's nothing to do besides follow the main story?
 
Does it not allow you to perform missions in different ways rather than be lead down corridors? Also as you have to escape from police etc via car chases you kind of need the flexibility to choose your own route. That being said I'd like the chance to do extra missions that aren't crucial to the storyline. Though Mafia let you do side missions I don't recall them having much point as you couldn't spend any money you made? It was a long time ago so I could be wrong
 
imo side misisons are boring. the ones in gta were like pick up your girl, take her out on a date and fuck her later or go and take your best mate round bowling then later on suck his cock, rinse and repeat but for different woman, men, dog, cat.

That's because GTAIV from a design standpoint was an uninspired POS, a better example of open world games with fun/interesting/varies side missions would be the likes of Vice City/San Andreas/RDR etc. etc.
 
Yep, just like the first. The first game was primarily driven by the narrative and was undoubtedly linear (aside from a couple of optional missions to unlock cars etc), but it didn't suffer at all for this.

It was still one of the best sandbox games on the PC/console and I preferred it to GTA. I'm replaying the campaign again and it's just as good as I remember.
 
I liked the leeway it gave in some missions. The murder the Mayor on the boat mission, I couldn't find the gun in time and ended up beating him to death with a bucket! And it let me.

I might have to get the first one again. Does it run alright on modern systems or does it need some patching and tweaking?
