Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Next week Wigan @ home then the Europa League, 2nd Leg at Anfield, well well well. Love the schedule.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

I thought that there is no way we can win this match without Suarez... I was wrong, now we all can see that without Torres, Liverpool is rebirth. Every single player got motivation and working for club and himself, not for Torres.

i think we did horribly wrong playing Kuyt as winger, this man is totaly CF, nothing else... he was amazing again... Kelly no question has all to be a new LEGEND for next 15 years..this kid is only 20 yo. Suarez and Carroll not even played today.. this is special...we shurely are on great way back to top 4, maybe not this season yet...but who knows maybe next one we can do it..

There will be nobody taking Kenny place i´m shure about that..

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Looked like he was going to cry! LMAO!

Good performance, was worried if Kenny would be able to get the tactics right, but they were spot-on today. Chelsea's best chances came from Liverpool trying to play the ball out of defense and getting caught in possesion. Can't remember a single Chelsea attack that cut through the team, which is excellent imo. Johnson was very lucky, but then those challenges happen all the time and hardly ever get punished. Lucas' handball was nothing imo, same as the Meireles one a few minutes earlier that did get a freekick. Maxi should of scored, and that could of made the game more comfortable. Kuyt is a very strong CF but will always need a fast partner in these games imo, Liverpool weren't really that dangerous, although did shade Chelsea overal, but he hasn't got the pace to be dangerous when the team is set up to counter. Great performance from him though.

Amusing to hear the Chelsea fans chant.......oh wait that's right, they were outsung by 5000? Liverpool fans for the entire game. Had a snigger when the fans started singing "You should have stayed at a real club" when he went off.

Also, tactically Chelsea were poor, can't help but think that having to accomodate Torres is going to give more problems. For the majority of games against the regular teams he will still do well, but at the very top level I think Drogba and Torres migth actually cancel each other out more then become dangerous. Time will tell.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

I'll say this now but I was probably wrong about Dalglish, Didn't think he would make a difference but fair play he has.

I did find it amusing when they showed Torres after the goal though. :DD

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Was just looking at the table, Liverpool might even get close to 4th. I know it looked ridiculous last week, and it might still turn out to be so, but atm it's only 6 points difference (albeit with a game in hand for Chelsea and Spurs).

Chelsea still have to play Utd twice, and Spurs and City at home. Spurs have City, Chelsea and Liverpool away. Other then that it looks pretty comfortable for them, although this season you never know. Liverpool have Utd, City and Spurs at home and Arsenal away.

There's a huge possibility for teams to lose points to each other, and this season really is a rollercoaster and Liverpool should improve the rest of the season to maybe make that push.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

6th isn't bad at all, their seems to be a "top tier" emerging anyway with 6 sides I'd say.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Congratulations, this win must mean much to you guys.
Dalglish is doing a very good job, better than Roy i have to admit. With a litle luck Liverpool indeed could challenge for the 4th place who would have tought that...

I wonder what the Kostaz guy is thinking now...can't help to have a litle chuckle at his expense although i'm not a Liverpool fan and quite like Chelsea.
Enjoy this one...

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

this means a lot gerd, would not mind the draw, even if we didn´t win today..but the game our tactics looks miles ahead of Hodgson.. i just can´t understand how we chainged, it´s small miracle..

The better to see Torres going bad, after all we done for him, this is relief that there is life without him..

im confident we get to play in europe next season.. we still are in the europa league with IS important to win..

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Delighted with that result. Not the greatest game in the world but 3 points and a clean sheet at Stamford Bridge is something to be happy about.

While i think it's unlikely that we'll get 4th, it's definitely possible looking at the run-ins...

Liverpool have got to play Man Utd, Arsenal, Man City and Tottenham with the Arsenal game being away as well as Sunderland away and Fulham away which could be difficult.

Tottenham have got to play Liverpool, Chelsea and Man City all away as well as potential hard away games at Blackpool and Sunderland.

Chelsea have still got to play Man Utd twice, Everton, Tottenham, Man City and Newcastle as well as away games at Blackpool, West Brom and Stoke.

Man City have still got to play Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool, Everton and Bolton all away from home as well as Tottenham, Sunderland and Stoke at home.

There's still the potential for big changes in the table between now and the end of the season, all of the top 6 teams have got several difficult games coming up. Looking at those games left there's still a possibility for a 6, 9 or possibly 12 point swing either way.

btw i know i've probably mentioned Stoke too many times but it's games like that where the top teams drop points.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Bet you lots feel lucky..2 pen not given Chels were hard done by. I guess small teams are getting the benefit nowadays :ACHOO:

Don't know about two, the handball was definitely never a penalty, but Johnson's an idiot for his shoulder barge on Ivanovic, that was probably a penalty.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

The handball claims were ridiculous and not even debatable, I'm more surprised the Johnson claim wasn't given though. I'd have been furious if that happened to us in the same situation.

Can't see anyone but Kenny getting the job full time now. And Clarke MUST stay as well. Possibly with his being groomed to take over Dalglish when he's ready to go.

Does my hair look good ?

This one is better :D "Oh it smells like crap...

And seriously... What i liked is that after final whistle, our guys didn't celebrate too much. Win against Chelsea could be celebrated by teams like Wigan or Wolves, not LFC. LFC is big club here. Torres ? Who the f*ck is Torres ?

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Just saw a good point mentioned. At the start of January, Hodgson was being asked about relegation. A month later and at the beginning of February, Dalglish is being asked about the top four.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

small team played in blue tonight mate..

didnt mean it like that, just in the lines of teams in the CL . I know Liverpool has history and is bigger than Arsenal n Chelsea. Good result no doubt at least from my point of view.

ok but how many times we were not given right choices.. remember beach ball incident.. to defend like this is very common in Premier league, mabye we was lucky but imo that was not for penalty...the hands of Meireles were by the body, so no chance for penalty as well..

anyway i hope Arsenal wins the league...just saying

btw: seeing Torres in blue feels wrong, somehow.. but it´s his choice, i´m happy we have Suarez and Carroll..

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

I had some fear that Dalglish may not be able to get
it tactically right against a rampant Chelsea team away...

but he did pretty well...I did not expect us to win...

Chelsea were ordinary....partly down to Ancelotti having to
accomodate a 50m signing....and that wrecked their shape...
because with 3 in midfield....we won that battle....
They made a blunder keeping Malouda out and no width at all...
Think of Anelka...who is probably their best striker now...
having to accomodate for Torres.....could he be another Sheva ?
Chelsea were doing fine....no need to sign him now...they should
have done it in the summer...

Well....Liverpool look a different team...there is belief, a positive
attitude, and Dalglish the manager has to take a lot of credit
for that....
Football is a simple game....a team game....Dalglish has made
us less reliant on 1-2 players....by focusing completely on pass-n-move..
every one is instructed to pass, pass....and move forward...
so refreshing to watch...
But if you think of it...this is how we played under Kenny in the 80s...
football is a simple game.....if the full team is technically good
and willing to work hard for each other....and has a manager who
can motivate and inspire....then success is around the corner....

Kenny has got us back.........and imagine with Suarez and Carroll
not playing today.....
YNWA !!!

So happy today......to see Dalglish when the goal went in....
and at the final whistle....BRILLIANT !!!

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

I too hope Arsenal win the league.....can't imagine seeing Fergie
get #19 when Kenny has come back...

But Kenny looks like he could take us back to the top in 2-3 years
time...

The fans are absolutely loving it with him in charge....
and .....it is my dream to see us win #19 with KING KENNY !!
I have waited 20 years since 1990....when I was a schoolboy in love
with that superb team we had....

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Gotta love Kenny's comments.

"As this club has always said, the most important people are the people who are at Liverpool Football Club. That's the way they approached the game.

"That's four clean sheets in a row now and 12 points. Everybody who has got any favour towards Liverpool will be very happy at the moment."

Pressed on whether there was extra motivation given what has happened in the transfer market this week, Dalglish said: "Our incentive was to get three points and that's what we did. Whatever someone wants to do with their life, that's entirely their choice.

"For me personally I came here to win three points and if Carlo Ancelotti had been playing up front I'd still have wanted the three points. The personnel and the opposition are not important to me. The only people who are important to me are those in red shirts.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

most important thing is that we are a team..and if players belive, no reason for us not to belive.. it only can get better from here..

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

The point i was making about the £50m was how different things are under the new owners compared to the previous pair of cunts. Do you think that if we'd sold Torres for £50m last year we'd have spent the full amount the same day?

Man City can't blow millions in the summer because of the new fair play
rules, this previous window was the last chance to spend ridiculous amounts before they kick in.

Also, the point about Torres was his timing, he reckons he new he wanted to leave when Alonso and Mascherano were sold, so why not communicate this sooner? Why not mention it in December and let the club get on with negotiations with other clubs? Why wait until there's 3 days left of the window before putting in a transfer request and forcing us to sell to Chelsea as no other club has bid for him?

There's a difference between "going nowhere" and what you're now trying to say.

completely agree with you on the first point.man city will still be able to spend.the rules are more only spend what you have and we all know they do.we wont.the whole torres thing was goin on bout a while now.no surprise there.like he said false promises were made.i really think he stuck around to see if we will compete financially but alas new owners perhaps came too late.look uj,been a liverpool supporter for bout over thirty years now.we were the best and thats what i only expect.challenging every season, not for sixth, fourth etc.standards have dropped for alot of younger fans.not for me hence "going nowhere".my somewhere is at the top.where rafa lead us closest.winning the cl.where rafa led us.anyway elated bout last nights result.proud of the away support.felt like a home game to be fair.lets just enjoy it for a week.ynwa

Which new Uefa rules did you read ?

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Good defending by our centre backs, not giving Chelsea much of a chance. Also noticable that we've reverted back to hitting long balls again since Carragher has returned to the team :BRICK:

Also good game so far by Gerrard who's been everywhere and put in a very good half.

Same can't be said for Maxi, Lucas or Kuyt though. Passing, control and movement from those three in particular has been shocking at times and Maxi is never going to forget that miss from 2-3 yards out.

Chelsea more likely to win I'd reckon but we could sneak it.

really dags?thought lucas and kuyt were the best players on the pitch.gerrard on the other hand had a poor game by his standards.as much i hate carra's hoofing, thought it was pretty precise this game.maxi's miss was shocking but nothing compared to tevez's miss vs sunderland....

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Ball to hand. The both of them! Johnson was lucky though but that shit happens all the time. I actually feel unlucky that it wasn't more than 1 as we were very comfortable and should have scored at 1 more with Maxi's miss. 1 shot on target is shocking!!!

I remember about 2 occasions where Lucas was a bit slow on the ball and conceded possession but overall he did quite well and kept the ball moving. Gerrard put in some tackles in last 20 but I didn't think he had a great game. Overall, the team worked hard and on the break, they were again looking to get people into the box which is a lot more positive than years gone by.

Even Martin Tyler commented on that, saying how that never happened under Hodgson. We had Agger making tackles in the opposition box at times!

Love the freedom that Kenny has the team playing in, must be so good to be a player in that system especially if you have the tactical brains about you to know where to be and when.

Really hope Aquilani returns and Juventus decide he'd cost too much, I'm sure he's shine in the team now.
