Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

i think he is out for a month

nah, he will be ok in a week..Pardew said Carroll may be out for the Arsenal match, which would be this coming Saturday. Don't think he's hurt that badly.

this is what he said:
'We brought him out here (to Portugal) to start running, and the disappointing news is that he hasn't,' said Pardew.

'His injury is in the muscle, just above the tendon where it joins the knee, so it's not an area that gets great circulation and therefore it doesn't heal quickly.

'We have had a consultation this week about sending him to someone who is the world's best tendon repair expert – there are experts in different fields – and this guy is at the Arctic end of Sweden.

'He's flying out there on Friday and we're hoping that we can turn him around quickly. But now I have to say that Fulham is definitely out and possibly even Arsenal. We can't rush him back.'

that was a while ago he said that, fact is Carroll isn't even running yet, he's not due to start until after the weekend. So it'll be around 2-3 weeks before he's even close to getting into the team.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

And all that because he fall drunk in a casino. He has to sort his mentality ASAP.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

I know this is old news but I just watched match of the day and saw David Silva playing for City and Toure coming on for Richards. All I could think was holy shit I completely forgot about these guys. It is absolutely insane the amount of names they have bought. I guess it just hit me.

I get a lot of shit for being a Liverpool supporter (catch every game I can) as everyone I know is either a united or chelsea fan, or is starting to like city. I do not know the entire club history as I haven't been watching football (soccer!) for ages, but I see how the club is run and how they go about their business and it is amazing. I love the attitude that no player is bigger than the club, and if someone doesn't want to wear the red shirt, then get out. I wish more teams were run this way.

My friends that also watch football have been ridiculous the last season and a half with all the trouble surrounding the team, but a few of them are actually interested in what liverpool are doing now.

I come to this thread to find out aby news i can pretty much daily. Even when I'm at work.

This may have errors/sound weird. Im on my phone with a broken screen.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

One thing I feel is that there is far too much criticism about
Torres ....
while I agree he left in the wrong way and maybe should not have
said so much about committing himself earlier....

But I feel he is being demonized by liverpool fans calling
him a judas...or mercenary....or glory hunter...

Aldridge is calling him a fraud, a mercenary.....
funny that Rush left for Juventus to earn more....
Aldridge also left after 3 years to Sociedad....
why even Keegan left for Hamburg...
why even Gerrard almost left twice to Chelsea.....
why is that players who play for the club cannot think of their
own careers or winning trophies or finances...
why do we expect them to "love" the club....
I think Torres has been a superb player at this club barring this season
with his sulking....but if you look at it...at his age he did not
want to spend another 2 years waiting to see how it will turn out...
...now whether Chelsea are the best option...that is to debate...but
they look far more likely to compete in the CL...

All of us work are not married to our jobs....if we get a chance of improving our careers we can leave....
we work so that we enjoy our work and make the most money
to provide for the families...

The funny thing is that Andy Carroll has just left his boyhood club
and joined Liverpool.....he can also be accused of ditching his fans
and going for more success....or that he did not give Newcastle the chance..
after all they were in mid-table...not in the bottom 3.....

Suarez also left Ajax which gave him the platform to do well at a big
club....and he left to come to Liverpool to win trophies....if you hear
what he said..." Liverpool ...a club who are always in the champions league
and europa"......funny that Torres left because we are missing out on
the very same CL...

What makes us think that Suarez or Carroll may not leave in 3 years
time to a more successful and wealthy club...

It's not like Torres has stabbed us in the back....
I mean....his departure may have a benefit...we have negligible
net spend and got rid of 2 under-motivated players (Torres and Babel)
and replaced them with 2 players who have great potential.

I think it is us fans who idolize players ....and then get heartache
when they leave...
maybe we should not do that.....these players are human beings who have a life and families
to take care...and they make decisions not for our benefit..
as Dalglish said ...no player is bigger than the club....the club
will go on...with new players...new coaches...etc...

I think you're confusing "leaving" with "abandoning".

Those other players who are still idolised left in the right way, Torres abandoned us when things were looking good. He fucked us over at the worst time (3 days left to replace him). That's why he won't be forgiven.

Plus, those other players all gave more to the club. Torres was here for three and a half years, two of which he has spent on and off the treatment table. He won nothing and to be honest he looked unstoppable in his first year and this year he's mostly looked average.

He's not a legend in the same sense as the other players you mentioned (Aldridge, Keegan, Rush etc.). He's a great player and will be remembered for some great moments, but not enough to put him up there with the best Liverpool players.

Nothing is unforgivable.....he did not kill anyone...
he left for selfish reasons.....end of story...
No need for people to hate him or deem it unforgivable...

I did not like him going to Chelsea......I don't like his cold-blooded
attitude....but the reality is Liverpool are bigger than Torres
and we have got 2 players who have loads of potential.
We got a lot of money for Torres...no way we would have got 50m
in the summer after his wretched world cup..

As Dalglish said let's focus on who we have .....
I am scared this Chelsea match will be all about Torres...just hope
the players dont take their eye off Anelka and the rest...who can inflict
much more damage than Torres....the fans need to focus on supporting the team
and ignore Torres......jeering him and abusing him will do no good to anyone.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

I understand what you're saying, but maybe it's because you live thousands of miles away that you don't understand the unbridled passion here. The fans here aren't going to sit around thinking about it and go "well you know what chaps, this Carroll fellow looks a bit of alright, lets forget all about that Spanish boy and give him a hearty round of applause". The passion and feeling won't allow people to move on so quickly, not after what we've been through over the past couple of years.

If he'd decided to go last year nobody would have blamed him, it's the fact that we'd finally got rid of all the negativity - H&G were gone, Hodgson is gone, the finances are sorted and the team are playing well and winning under Kenny, things were finally looking good and that's when he decided to fuck us over. That is where the anger comes from, the inexplicable timing that led the club to panic to find a suitable replacement with 3 days notice. Plus it didn't help that Torres himself hasn't shut up over the past 3 years about how he bleeds Liverpool red and how he'd never dream of playing for another English side. When it transpires that your star player has been faking his connection with your club and bullshitting you all along, it's not nice and it provokes a reaction, and that reaction is very understandable in my opinion.

The LFC players will be focused don't worry about that, i don't see what the fans hating Torres will do to affect that to be honest.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

I totally agree with UJSupanova. Mathew, dont take it the wrong way, but I think that one of the reasons you "defend" him it is because in United States fans are not as passionate as in UK or in Argentina for example. I also live miles away from Liverpool but I do think that Torres fucked us big time.
And as UJ said, the fact that this guy was lying on our faces and just telling all the things we wanted to hear when he didnt really mean them, makes it worse.

PD: Shouldnt you been thinking of taking that traitor of your avatar ? :P

i understand what you mean but lets face it, Torres did underperformed for the year, i dont belive he´s that shite player he pretended to be and i do belive he might storm the league with chelsea..

BUT

he did something that´s unforgetable for the fans and the club - he has disrespected whole structure of our club, turned his back to all the fans who supported him through injury time and most of all he turned back on bigest legend this club ever had - to Kenny Dalglish and his Liverpool project. Kenny clearly wanted him to stay and the truth is we counted on him to be a partner for Suarez.. Not to mention the bullshit he talk about in chelsea tv about how big the club is...where´s the truth is no-fuxxxg-body cared about chelsea FC before 2003...not as i remember they are a wannabe club and they have not a history , just present...becouse they represent or continue with the level that´s drives football to his death untill some measures will be set.. They are owned by bilionaire and nobody cares for them to spend..

I agree though they have better squad then we have, they won the titles in this century, still what LFC represents are much different values and with his transfer he selfishly broke this values.. I know football players should not care about the other than their career, but we were building this team around him most of all, he could say sooner than 3 days especialy all players knowing this will happend more than half year before..

I dont respect him as player anymore, if i was neutral fan i would still shake my head to see him fxxxxd up such club as Liverpool, true European champion and Englands most succesfull club.. No matter what Chelsea do, they mean plain nothing in europe..

I would shake my head to see Rooney leave United for City, that could as well happend, for what Ferguson did for Rooney he would with no hesitation throw this away just to be paid better.. I know Torres transfer is maybe not about money, but there is some things he could learn on his 3 years with LFC and with living in the town, talking to people who worshiped him...

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

I never kissed the Liverpool badge, says Chelsea's Fernando Torres

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/feb/05/fernando-torres-liverpool-chelsea

"I never kissed the Liverpool badge," he said. "I see some players do that one week after they join a club but the romance in football has gone. It's different now. People come and leave. When you join a club you want to do the best for yourself and for that club. That's all. Some people like to kiss the badge. I only want to score goals, do my job and achieve all the targets the team has. We share the same targets."

236094698.jpg

did he deserve to be even talked about...pure shite of person.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Bitterness aside the timing argument that UJSupanova pointed out is quite valid but I believe that the fact that he's being made into an enemy has more to do with him moving to Chelsea rather than the timing of that move.

Torres is the fist modern era Liverpool star who "dared" to leave for a rival club in the Premier League for his own reasons. Similar transfers would make any football fan angry and bitter and especially the Liverpool fans who've seen the club's power shrink over the years and probably feel insecure about the current status of their club.

He won't be forgiven mostly for his move being a sign of some bad times for Liverpool rather than picking the wrong time to move which could've only damaged the club short-term.
Mascherano could have been accused of abandoning a sinking ship* and he even forced his move in a worse way yet he's didn't move to a club in England. Benayoun came to Chelsea and didn't praise LFC and its fans as much as Torres did but he wasn't hated that much because he was nowhere as important and never an icon for the club.

*Unlike Torres who at least stayed until things started to look better.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

ppl really need to take their tinted glasses off and lay off his back already.he did very very well for us.gave us alot of good times.so the man wants to better his career, who can blame him.dont forget he left his boyhood club for us.enough of the bitterness eh?i for one will never blame him for leaving us.we are going nowhere.he is too good for us.wish him nothing but the best.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Nothing like being optimistic eh? If you seriously think we're "going nowhere" then I'm not sure what you're thinking. We weren't going anywhere last year under H&G (downhill if anything), we're clearly getting better now.

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

I don't understand the bitterness towards Torres.
I've also read the interview with the owner. Yesterday i tried to post this link but something went wrong. My commentary about it was that if you look at it that way the amount of money for Caroll in a way it makes sense. I don't know if it was deliberate of just brilliant damage control. But that's not the point.

If you look at it the same way as Henry does (that's his name?) then Torres did Liverpool a favour with his transfer.

The timing?
Yes, it was late. But you are all convinced that both Suarez and Caroll are the real thing and will be good players. What's the problem?

dags,do you honestly believe we'll get a cl spot in the next two three years?yes we are getting better.but we are just gonna be a mid table side for a while, spurs and man city have overtaken us.we are sixth at best and if you fail to see it then hey,i admire your optimism(blind faith?)....

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Where has this bellend attitude come from recently that you can only be considered honest and realistic if you think we're going nowhere and will take years to climb back up but if you think things are looking better already and will continue to improve you're just blinkered and delusional?

The new owners just spent £50m (almost £80m+ but Villa and Blackpool wouldn't sell Young and Adam) and are planning more in the summer, the team is already playing a lot better than it has all season and for the first time in 12 months or so we're going into games confident that we'll win. I for one don't think it'll take 3 years or more to get back up there. The owners are determined to get us up there as soon as possible (Henry wants the league by 2013 ffs). Have some faith ffs

Re: Liverpool Thread(King Kenny!!)

Misfit it´s not about being bitter, i dont care about him as player anymore..it´s about some people still feel for him and make him victim of bad LFC managment, or are not seeing the plain truth, that he is a lyar like most of professional footballers and the truth was all the time different than he was talking about... he left the club in "back doors" the way he should not and would rather see him go otherwise, but it´s his decision..

Very much so. Look at the improvement under Dalglish already, you have to wonder what next season can be like with him in charge full time, Clarke staying on too, Suarez and Carroll forming a partnership and then who knows who we might sign in the summer?
