Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

Amazing you can pin your hopes on someone who hasn't managed for over a decade and walked out last time he had the job.

It's gotten that bad I would even rather have Sammy in charge!

The goal for Liverpool was generous, 3-0 would have been better for the headline effect.

Can I place a bet that Hodgson thinks we were "unlucky and had the penalty gone in it could have been a very different result"?! :D / :angrysmilie:

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

He has to go now....how much more of this can we take?
4 points off Relegation....25 pts from 20 games....

Can't see Dalglish doing any worse....

but I would prefer if we just go for Rangnick or Rijkaard
....the best 2 available candidates....

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

We've only won 1 more away game  but yeah that is bad. I genuinely don't get how Hodgson (and any other manager for that matter) can have such poor away records? It's not like the home crowd makes that much difference.

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

@ Jumbo_

I know it's weird, these are tactics that were developed in the 70-ties and have given him unprecedented succes in some of the biggest leagues in the world. It's really odd...

@ Klashman,

He looked dangerous going forward...(it's just a small detail that a defender should know how to defend)

:D

what about martin o'neill?

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

O'Neill is vastly over rated.

Actually, I think he could do a job for Liverpool, in terms of getting them into the Europa League and settling them down (what Hodgson was supposed to do). But if the new board have aspirations higher than that then he is definitely not the man they want.

:D

Get a new manager in and just try and play some more attacking football for now and see how it goes. It would suit Players like Johnson etc..

Just don't expect any miracles.

na i hope he stays manager until after april 16th when we play them at the emirates for a nice easy 3 points at a vital stage of the season

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

The thing is....does NESV consider this season a total write-off....
and not bother firing Hodgson....to reduce compensation ...

Or do they pay him up...and let him go....
replacing him with a new manager.....
The only ones availabe are Rijkaard, Rangnick, Dalglish, MON...
not too impressive.....
Will Dalglish be interested as interim coach till the summer....

I think if it was Dalglish,....it would have happened earlier.

I get the feeling either NESV have no clue.....or are just
waiting till the summer....knowing their main man is not
available now....

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

We'll be relegated if Roy stays until the summer.

I doubt he'll be here by the end of the month at the latest though.

NESV don't have a clue, that's why they want to appoint a CEO to handle the football side of things. They haven't any idea who the best managers are, they probably didn't know most of our players before researching whether to buy us so they're not going to have heard of the foreign managers being mentioned for out job. Surely this is the reason that they haven't sacked Roy, because if we had a CEO with any football knowledge, they'd have gotten rid already I imagine.

First Roy said to judge him after ten games, then by December. Into January and we're getting worse and worse.

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

Dalglish would be an able stopgap, nothing more.

I think Martin Jol would be a good match for Liverpool, and I think his style of football would be more in line with what Liverpool fans traditionally expect. He did a good job at Spurs and I think he's looking for another crack at English football.

Martin O'Neill is not the answer for me. He's overrated. He spent an obscene amount of money at Villa with nothing to show for it, his tactics are very direct with no plan B, and he likes to wear the same 11 players into the ground week-in, week-out. And the Villa players were less than impressed with his training methods.

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

I just expect answers or something from owners before United match, or we get hammered with continuing current way...

Stuart Downing for 12 million anyone? :FAIL:

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

Agreed...I dont want to see O'Neill anywhere near us....
we need modern experienced managers who can play good attractive football.

Fat chance getting Martin Jol....we have Comolli as Director.

Dalglish would not do too bad....but the big question mark is his
being out of work for too long.....and it would be a step
down from Rafa. He may be able to weave some magic...and lift
the morale...and I would love to see him given the chance to
make up for his resignation in 1991...
BUT..We need to move forward....and for that we need someone a bit younger.

Rijkaard is the only one with decent experience in Europe...
and the media will try to bring up his sacking at Galatasaray...
BUT even the great Vicente Del Bosque was sacked at Besiktas...

The thing is...who would want to work with Comolli...

Dags....Comolli is the Director of Football Strategy....I would
think he will have a big role in selecting the next coach....

Re: Liverpool Thread(HODGSON OUT!!)

Rumours now gaining serious momentum that he's been sacked. Supposedly coming from Ian Ayre.

Although, the rumour bears all the hallmarks of one of those ones that started from a single text message forwarded on and then tweeted.

Dalglish has won more trophies than Hodgson has won away games in all his time managing English sides - FACHT!
