Just seen the last 15min of the 1st half. Looks as though he has dropped his sit back and do nothing approach as the players are pressuring far higher up the pitch.

Best performance by a MILE for us so far this season, Lucas and Meireles look a superb pairing and are completely running the show. Very unlucky not to be ahead.
74% possession tells it's own story.
I expect Roy to be shitting himself that we're too offensive though, and he'll tell the players to hold back in case we concede or something crazy.

I very much doubt he's got anything sorted, still very much the wrong man for the job. Rumours that the players had a meeting with Roy yesterday to express their frustrations at his tactics and that they wanted things to change.
Makes sense, today was massively different to any other performance by Roy this season.

We played better.....but before getting carried away.....Blackburn were diabolical in the first half....probably the lousiest most negative
team to come to Anfield.
In the 2nd half, it was more even, and not really great from us
except here and there...
Hodgson still needs to go....2 wins out of 9.....that is still atrocious.
His media comments and once again he is publicly putting pressure
on Torres...saying he needs to score more....
Almost making him the scapegoat if we don't win.

Still a long way to go wit regardes to getting back to being a competitive team.

This is a fairly good squad, still lacks a depth, but that is because we had to sell 3 or 4 players to finance the singing of anyone else. Now with our debts wiped out, and a fairly good operating profit, we can begin to rebuild the squad
I really like the look of Raul Meireles, a really classy midfielder and always looks a threat when he has time to take a pop at goal. And I thought Lucas had a blinder of a game yesterday, he was all over the place, winning the ball, controlling the tempo and was very assured.
If Joe keeps getting games he will get back to his best, his assist for Torres showed how clever he is, most players would have took too many touches and the chance would have gone. He controlled the ball perfectly on his first touch which allowed him to clip it in with his left, in an instant, before the Blackburn defenders could realise Torres was sneaking in at the far post. Coles is a one of the few English players that could fit seamlessly into a continental style of play. His career has been blighted by not being a regular starter, due to his "in the hole" position, which has never really been utillised by English clubs.
I'm encouraged by the form of Skrtel and Kryiakos. Skrtel was at fault for letting Benjani past but he's been really solid and good in the air.
Is Glenn Injured? Carragher has stepped in well at RB and was actually providing a bit of width, but....still think Glenn is the better choice there, particularly in home games.
Dissapointed that Pacehco seems to be shunned by Roy. We can't let his talent go to waste, he is an outstanding young prospect.
Jovanovic...I like....really like, He will come good if he is played higher up the pitch, he will get goals and assists, I think he's a more technical version of kuyt. He can get past people and hes very quick on the counter, so far his decision making has let him down, and playing too deep.

The problem is his mentality of lowered expectations...I can't
see Hodgson telling the players...go and try to win every game....
which explains his negative footballing philosophy...

"Sunderland (2-2) was not that bad. Blackpool (a 2-1 defeat) was such a wretched first-half performance where we shot ourselves in the foot and couldn't get back in.
"Everton last week (a 2-0 defeat) I thought we paid a high price for the second goal, which shouldn't have been allowed.
"We allowed Everton to get on top of us in the first 20 minutes by passing the ball too short and never turning them round.
"I saw the statistics the other day from the Everton game and I've never in my Premier League career seen statistics as positive as they were in terms of passing, accuracy and tempo of passing, number of shots and crosses.
"Those statistics hearten you because you know you are not playing badly, but they don't get you any points.
"We had the same level of passing and intensity against Blackburn, but we were much more incisive, getting behind them down the flanks more.
"Jamie Carragher was bombing forward like Carlos Alberta of old.
"It was the right sort of performance; we've got to give another 29 like that and if we can do that then we won't go too far wrong."
The Liverpool manager believes a new benchmark has been set for the players and he now expects them to maintain that standard.

In the 1997–98 season, his first season in charge, Blackburn finished 6th, qualifying for the UEFA cup and appearing to be in the ascendancy - especially as they had been outsiders in the title race for more than half of the season and Hodgson had been voted Premier League Manager of the Month on two occasions.The team's form collapsed dramatically in the second half of the season and it was only on the last day of the season that they secured a UEFA place.[13]

First of all Kenny Dalglish is one of my all-time favourite players...i'm old enough to have seen him playing and he was outstanding. The best Liverpool player ever IMO.
But.
Liverpool and Dalglish are making a huge mistake by making him director of football (or whatever is function is called). Dalglish is out of the game for too long. In a couple of months Dalglish will be criticized like Hodgson now.
He is legend in Liverpool and now it will all go wrong...never ever go back to were you were most successfull. It can only go wrong. And it will go wrong.

Get in a new Director, new Manager....build on the squad

It would be intereseting to look at the reactions of Man Utd fans during the first months of Fergusons reign and comparing them with Liverpool's fans about Hodgson.

Man Utd were in an entirely different situation when Ferguson took over compared to where we are now. We should be much higher than we are, the squad we have is not as bad as some people like to think.

Man Utd fans at the time also thought that they should have been muh higher than they were and that their squad is not that bad...every fan in the world thinks that.
Do you guys really think that you are in a very peculiar situation...there are millions of fans who feel exactly the same. Believe me, the situation was very similar when Ferguson took over. Now he is seen as perhaps the most successfull manager ever but what if he did not win that FA Cup with Man Utd...he would have been sacked. He would have been a nobody.
IMO Hodgson is not underachieving (there are other big clubs who are in the relegation zone, look at Roma last year or Fiorentina now...), you guys will not like that but i'm pretty sure that Benitez overachieved with the relatively modest squad he had at his disposition. To me Liverpool has had 3 exceptionally good players: Reina, Xabi Alonso and Torres. For evey other player (yes also for Gerrard) you could name 3 or 4 EPL players who are arguably as good if not better.
When (as a neutral who rather likes Liverpool) i compare Liverpool's squad (even that of two seasons ago) with the squads of Arsenal, Man Utd and Chelsea...well then Liverpool has by far the weakest squad.
But i guess most people in this thread will never agree with me and will see this as a provocation...it isn't. It's an opinion of a neutral that is less farfetched than most of you think (and i'm not claiming to know it all...just consider for the sake of argument what i'm writing here).
Man Utd fans at the time also thought that they should have been muh higher than they were and that their squad is not that bad...every fan in the world thinks that.
Do you guys really think that you are in a very peculiar situation...there are millions of fans who feel exactly the same. Believe me, the situation was very similar when Ferguson took over. Now he is seen as perhaps the most successfull manager ever but what if he did not win that FA Cup with Man Utd...he would have been sacked. He would have been a nobody.

Most ridiculous thing I've read on Evo-Web ever. How many teams in the world have a squad where more than 3 or 4 of their players are better than other players in their league? Very few players are of a class where they don't have an equal.
The fact is, most teams don't have more than 2-3 "world class", standout players that have no equal to others, there just aren't that many players in the world.
