Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

All of those he did for the good of the team and was vindicated for all apart from Stam, who he later admitted he shouldn't have sold and got wrong.

Obviously we don't know what will happen with Rooney yet but you can't call it a mistake, I think he's dealt with it correctly and Wayne has thrown his toys out his pram.

Rooney throwing a tantrum?? Surely not?! :P

Re: Liverpool Thread

Rijkaard has quit from Galatasary. Turkish media are linking him with the liverpool job.

Re: Liverpool Thread

And bring Turan with him!

Hahah...I was about to type that....bring Arda Turan.

I searched on the internet...I don't see anywhere that Rijkaard has quit.

He would be good though.....
young, dynamic, attack-oriented....and big club experience
winning La Liga and CL with Barca...

Rijkaard agent: "There has been no approach from Liverpool - at this moment Frank is still manager of Galataseray" - Dan Roan at the BBC.

Not sure about this tbh, i know most people will say "he can't be any worse than Hodgson" and he does have some good qualities about him, i just don't like a lot of what i heard when he was at Barca about the players having no respect for him, some didn't bother training and still got picked. A few people i've spoken to today said that most of the positive things that happened when he was at Barca were down to Henk Ten Cate and when he left things went downhill.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Pellegrini. Enough of Roy. Can't believe I thought he was a good appointment.

Same here...I can't believe I was thinking he was better than Rafa...
What a waste ....... it is so ridiculous that we got Roy Hodgson...
shambolic manager....he is so in love with his ridiculously negative
"team shape" and "organisation"....without realizing that this
is not working with the current players....he seems so out of his
depth...he has no clue what it means to manage Liverpool FC....

Cannot believe we spent money getting rid of Rafa...and actually
spent money paying Fulham to get Hodgson.
A mid-table manager hyped up by the British press because of one
good run in the Europa league.
It's like the fact McClaren got the England job because he took
Middlesbro to the UEFA final.....we saw how that turned out.

I am so depressed.....if we don't get the decisions right in the next
few months....regarding manager and new players.....it could be all
downhill...
I just pray that Liverpool will be stronger and better...
and that NESV will realize our vision of being a winning team

Re: Liverpool Thread

Former reds boss Rafa Benitez has exposed the widely known division between him and Christian Purslow during today’s press conference ahead of Inter’s game against Spurs.

The media pressed Benitez about Liverpool’s situation and his responsibility for the club’s current 19th place in the Premier League.

Benitez said:

“I prefer not to talk about this because I feel sorry for the fans. I was really sad for them and after the defeat the other day (against Everton).

“We have a saying in Spanish that says ‘white liquid in a bottle has to be milk’. This means that, after 86 points and finishing second in the league, what changed? The Americans. They decide and choose a new managing director and everything changed.

“The managing director is involved in all the decisions. New lawyer, new chief of press, new manager, new nine players, new medical staff, new fitness coaches. They change everything, so they change managing director then we change everything that we were doing in the past.

“If you ask me what’s going on it’s simple – they changed some things and by the end they changed everything. White liquid in a bottle – milk. You know who to blame!”

Christian Purslow anchored the departure of Rafa Benitez in the summer to the European Champions before setting up on his quest to bring Roy Hodgson to Anfield in the summer of 2010.

Re: Liverpool Thread

It sounds a bit like the poor management Juve had last season, although they started the season alright then went completely downhill. Their management was comprised of non-footballing businessmen who didn't really have much of a clue or were looking at the wrong things to manage.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I hope the new owners get rid of Purslow, seems to be a right backstabbing c#$t who is screwing the club with his inability to keep out of footballing matters.

Re: Liverpool Thread

You can't underestimate the power of the British media
that has had a big part to play in Rafa's departure.

Even now these media pundits are unwilling to blame Roy...
they keep ranting about how Rafa is to blame.....
Sure he made mistakes...who has'nt.
At least he took Liverpool forward from Houllier.

The same media that hyped Roy to the heavens....is not unwilling
to see they were wrong.
Their insistence on a British coach that will be good to the media
and not ruffle any feathers....
the problem is he is useless for the Club....but good for everyone
else.

If Hodgson were in any other profession....he would have been sacked
simply based on performance....
If Rafa could take this team to 7th place.....and Roy was a better
coach...he should be improving the team....not making them worse.

I hope we don't go for Martin O'Neill.....
We need a big name..... Rijkaard or Hiddink or Pellegrini...
someone who will bring back good football and inspire these players.

The players are surely not liking this crappy "team-shape" and
deep lying negative system that Hodgson loves....
we were more positive with Houllier for crying out loud....
I don't ever remember Liverpool being so easily dominated in the
midfield like this season.....and that is solely down to the manager

ROY HAS TO GO !!!

The board has to accept their HUGE mistake in signing this man....
Purslow should keep his head in the Sponsorships and Financial business side
of things.....and let the Manager do his job.
We really need a Director of Football who will help the manager....not make his
job hell....like Purslow did for Rafa....

BTW...who are the 9 players they signed ?
Was Rafa talking about since last year or this summer...

Re: Liverpool Thread

Hodgson hasn't taken Gerrard, Torres and Meireles to Napoli.

+ Johnson and Agger i think..

LOL, with this team we are about to play in most dangerous Italy field - not talking about physical danger for our players but this is how LFC want to play against one of 5 best Italy teams this season?

Napoli won the game already.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Hearing that Hodgson has requested Dalglish doesn't go to Napoli either, 5 mins left to go before the flight takes off and Dalglish still not boarded...

Re: Liverpool Thread

He seems to loose it...i would not be surprised ..i just dont bother anymore untill he is our manager..

i just fear for bad, very bad european night ahead of us. and offcourse the fact he is resting our best players will not help us win against Blackburn at all.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Lucas also left out.

Basically a second-string team. As Bitter says, we've now become relegation-focused where Roy won't even play a half-strong team in fear of losing (again) in the league.

Sad times.

Edit:
Squad: Reina, Jones, Hans, Konch, Aurel, Kyrg, Skrt, Wils, Carra, Kelly, Spear, Pouls, Shelv, Maxi, Bab, Jova, Pach, Eccle, Cole, Ngog. #LFC

Reina

Kelly Carra Skrtel Aurelio

Maxi Poulsen Spearing Jovanovic

Cole

Ngog

is my predicted team, not TOO bad when you look at it in that way. Very inexperienced bench though.

Re: Liverpool Thread

What do you mean, not too bad?! Our midfield will be non existent! Defense looks fine, and I'm sure Ngog will make a nuisance of himself but with nothing to back him up it's going to be pretty dire imo. Glad they won't be showing it really...

Re: Liverpool Thread

Centre midfield aside, I think that's a reasonable team.

Unfortunately, CM is a preeeetty important area of a team and it's usefulness of defending and attacking.

Re: Liverpool Thread

All our top players need resting because of the huge home game we have on Sunday against those Premier League heaveyweights Blackburn Rovers.

Simon Clancy
@SiClancy Simon Clancy
Unable to verify but rumours that Roy's LFCTV interview was so bizarre that it's "unviewable". Called the Napoli game an "utter distraction"
