Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

Roy's already changed the squad up and the new signings aren't really inspiring either, Meireles maybe. Poulsen certainly isn't showing anything whatsoever.

Hate too say I told ya so

Re: Liverpool Thread

Yep, maybe he's taking forever to settle in but Poulsen just doesn't fit into the team in any possible way. He looks completely lost and is a waste of a players spot, Lucas must be fuming on the bench :(

Re: Liverpool Thread

THE MANAGER HAS TO GO AFTER TODAYS SHAMBLES SURLEY NOW!
HOW MANY MORE GAMES ARE THEY GOING TO GIVE HIM TO DRAG US ROCK BOTTOM AND ROOTED TO THE FOOT OF THE LEAGUE?

Re: Liverpool Thread

With the current board i wont be surprised if they keep Hodgson.. Purslow did this together with the owners..they are the cancer ..Hodgson is just top of the mountain... seriously dont know what to expect in coming days from LFC....

Re: Liverpool Thread

So when is the ownership issue going to be resolved? Isn't mid October the deadline?

They, Woy and the "players", are just trying to make Liverpool look as bad as possible to make sure the Yanks don't get a penny in profit. Then when the deadline passes and RBS can just sell it on there will be more money to invest in the stadium and squad.

It has to be surely?! What other excuse is there for what we have seen so far?!

Re: Liverpool Thread

Agent Roy is doing a great job for us.

He's your manager and is doing such a great job that I can't hate him either.

But in all seriousness, it's not going well, and from all accounts, the players just can't be arsed. I don't think it's something any other manager could help either.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Hope You guys dont go down, its not looking good.

Heres a thought,

Robinson, Richardson (Radebe 82), Duberry, Kilgallon, Harte, Kelly (Wilcox 73), McPhail, Matteo, Pennant, Smith, Milner.

THAT was the side that were relegated in May 2004,and we never thought it would happen to us.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Saw it mentioned earlier that Hodgson was in charge of Blackburn for a large part of the season when they got relegated, winning 1 of their first 14 games before he was sacked. And he had the second most expensive squad in the league at the time.

There fact that relegation is even being talked about says so much.

1 win in 7 matches for us so far then...

Re: Liverpool Thread

shite start? this is the worst start as mentioned above in 57 years...if i could i would sack manager immediately and appoint Kenny or MON or anyone crazy enough to take this job now... to sort the once good team..

but i have to admit we dont have Hodgson as main problem...as long as we are in hands of the current owners and board...who imo made the decision who to buy or sell..(except Konchesky and Poulsen) who were Hodgsons players...as long as we have this people above manager...we are not going to improve long term...

Then the second thing is lack of spirit, no fighting whatsoever from our players...we did not have amazing squad or much differnet on Old Trafford year ago then we were able to use today...

first we need to WIN against Everton..if we dont win against them, there should be a radical chainges made...with any costs..

Re: Liverpool Thread

I have a feeling if Dalglish had taken the job this summer, you'd be in the same predicament.

Only you'd have to same delusional people who backed Rafa to the hilt (basically the RAWK/SOS bunch) willing to take a bullet for King Kenny, instead of everyone wanting Roy's head.

In any case, usually when you're like this, you win the next big game (thankfully this time round it isn't against us), so more than likely you'll beat Everton, and then everything will be relatively fine.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Sad to see our club struggling......Hodgson and Purslow have a
lot to answer
- why did we not sign a proper backup to Torres ?
- why did we sign players like Poulsen and Konchesky ?
- why did we not sign any wingers ?
- why are we playing Raul Meireles on the wing ?
- why are we persisting with Glen Johnson at Right-back ?
- why are we not playing decent football with the players we have ?

QUOTE]Everyone and their dad knows the team we should be putting out. Everyone except Roy that is. Guys like Shelvey and Kelly should be getting starts as well.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Don't think Kenny would do much either. I mean it would only be Carra, Cole, Gerrard and maybe a couple of other players and the youngsters who would look up to him with such high regard.

Re: Liverpool Thread

“We were anxious to get back on track, but no words or anything I can say will change things or make it any better.” – ROY HODGSON appreciates the depth of unhappiness and frustration on the Red half of Merseyside

“The fans were singing You’ll Never Walk Alone, my dad’s favourite song. He is no longer with us. I was so emotional and singing along with them. To then be applauded off in what is almost the home of football makes the day so special,” – the ever-quotable IAN HOLLOWAY

I've always liked Holloway, a lot of respect for him and he's a pretty funny guy as well.

He said he'd come to the Premier League and attack, and he's stuck to that. Blackpool attacked us straight from the off and so they should, well done. Hope Holloway and Blackpool stay up :)

Re: Liverpool Thread

Jeez, your team is in a mess at the moment, I think Hodgson should be bagged tbh, didn't think he should've got the job and by the looks of things players aren't playing for him.

Re: Liverpool Thread

As an outside view, I think Liverpool had a decent team when benitez left. Just needed a few additions. A quality striker I would have thought would have been top of the list to partner Torres(or replace when not fit).

It's the same problem we have at Arsenal, we don't seem to get players in the positions we really really need and we suffer because of it.

Alot of people are calling for Wengers head. But it just shows with Liverpool, when you have a top quality manager, why replace him? Just because you get a new manager in it doesn't mean you are going to do well automatically.

I think you have more trouble with the players mentality than anything else, which needs to be sorted out. Similar thing with the Arsenal players.

There is a thin line between success and failure and I think Arsenal could be in the same position as Liverpool with a couple of bad decisions.

People underestimate how difficult it is to stay in the top 4. This is why people underestimated Benitez (even though benitez dropped out of the top 4) and now Wenger imo.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I think Benitez is terribly overrated by the cult which is RAWK (the forum that blames refs, the weather, owners and Sir Alex Ferguson for everything that doesn't go their way). I am entitled to this, Benitez, if anything, took Liverpool FC backwards.

Well done Rafa - because of you, LFC are now a Europa League team. Not the owners, not the fans, not the weather, not the refs - RAFA BENITEZ.

you clearly are happy he is gone...becouse if he was not with proper funding we would be where we belong...Benitez won much more in his spell with us than Ferguson did his first seasons with United...he won more last 5 years in england than Wenger....he had balls to tell Ferguson to shut the f... up anytime and the wins on Old Trafford were just priceless...not talking about making LFC again top club in champions league...

he won more than was expected..with the background he had on LFC he did amazing buisines...yes he spended a lot but then again he also made profit selling players.. he bought Benayoun, Skrtel, Agger, Johnson, Lucas, Ngog, Torres, and many more for bargain wich they were or should be bought in that form those years ago...

and clearly you are not making point if he was better then Shankley or Paisley, those years are over..football nowdays is all about the money.. if you dont have it...you end up buying players like Poulsen and Konchesky...

Re: Liverpool Thread

I never thought I would say this.....but we are regretting having let
go of Rafa....I was not a fan of Rafa after last season...
but Roy has made this club worse....
Somehow I just can't see it improve by much....

To me if fans can see the glaring defencies in this squad
- lack of cover for Torres
- no wingers
- no proper fullbacks

and the management goes and signs a bunch of central players
(Cole, Poulsen, Meireles)

For a moment, seeing Houllier is doing well at Aston Villa
I thought to myself....our 2 best managers in the last 20 years
are managing at other clubs...
Although both Rafa and Houllier did well and finally got burnt
out .....but going for Hodgson....and seeing his lack of motivation
and lowering of targets......just does not make sense.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Last season you lost 11 games in the league whilst drawing 9 and at one point you won 3 matches from 11.

IMO the rot had already set in and things were already on the way down then.
