Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

What do Brazilian's tend to think about Lucas? Is he a favourite or do people not like him?

Re: Liverpool Thread

There's not a strong opinion about him, only that he's a good player and deserves to be in this young Brazil team, but few thought of him going to the WC. Most people still rate Anderson higher than him, obviously they're stuck a couple of years in time.

I expect him to be a regular starter for the NT, as the new coach Mano was his coach at Grêmio in 2006.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Huang's bid has been reportedly submitted to BarCap, could be with the Liverpool board within 24hrs depending on BarCap accepting the bid or not.

I got some brazilians friends cause Ive been there on holidays and the opinion of them is that at Gremio he is one of the best players of the brazilian league and an awsome prospect, but that he hasnt reached his potential and he is not good enought for a team like Liverpool.

We think Rafa ruined him!

Well I'm speaking for myself, he was a different type of player here, just like Anderson.

Lucas was always a box to box player and his main quality was tactical intelligence, making very good runs and finding the empty space, never was really a brilliant passer or dribbler, just effective. Just watch Ramires playing, Lucas was pretty much the same few years ago, I hope Chelsea doesn't turn him into marker limited to simple passing.

Anderson was a different case he had some tricks in his sleeve but was never brilliant playing here, although he showed a lot of potential and we used to think he was gonna be another talented offensive midfilder, not Ronaldinho, that comparison was more about the looks and club most definitely not his football, somehow they manage to sell this to Porto and Europe. He could be a Diego maybe but lets not go off topic.

Lets say EPL and Brazilian football are not in sync yet. Few are those who will be great there.

Fantastic buy, great player...

Gerd, as a fellow Belgian I often rate your opinions very high, but I cannot for the life of me understand why you would say that Poulsen is a great player. Hell, they're putting up a statue for Marotta as we speak in Turin for loading off that miserable excuse of a player : lol :

Re: Liverpool Thread

The thing about Poulsen that people are ignoring is that he was basically told by his manager last year that he wouldn't be in his plans and yet he still managed to force his way into the team, so he must be doing something right.

I watched the clip before of the Shalke vs AC Milan game where he spent the whole match winding up Gattuso and Kaka, I love him already

The fact that Juve had 80 injuries during last season, gave him a bit of a nudge though:COOL:

Re: Liverpool Thread

Quite a few people saying the owners are close to being booted out now, doesn't look like long until Huang is in.

Edit: Board meeting this afternoon...

Edit:
Hodgson: "I haven't spoken to (managing director) Christian Purslow today because he is in London with the rest of the board"

Re: Liverpool Thread

Yep, not sure how to call the game on Sunday. With it being Roy's first league game, it's going to give us that extra push that we might not have had if Rafa was here maybe.

Should be a cracking game though.

Re: Liverpool Thread

you can bet Arshavin to score I want a win even sharing the spoils won`t be a bad result . I doubt we could do the magical result from last season opening :))

Re: Liverpool Thread

I think you are going to win, I think the final push it being at Anfield. It doesn't matter if you field your reserves, playing at Anfield is tough.

With our defence at the moment and players like Diaby, Denilson and Song not playing in pre season and the doubts over whether Fab and Van persie plays and also it being Roys first game, it all will be in your favour.

If we get a draw i will be happy. May the best team win :DD

Re: Liverpool Thread

So the statement was to confirm there was a meeting and they're considering multiple bids.

From what I believe, the bids needed to go through RBS first. They check them out, make sure the money is actually there and if it's an acceptable amount. So it looks like RBS have accepted bids and we're onto stage 2 now, at least.

I think under the current rules that you also need to give the Premier League 10 days notice for change of ownership. So I wouldn't expect anything to go through in the next week.

Maybe, with Arsenal's lack of a goalkeeper and injuries partnered with Liverpools potential to be too enthousiastic in attack under Roy it could end up a free-for-all. :D

Re: Liverpool Thread

Unfuckingbelievable. Wilshere has done nothing but foul, including one he finally gets booked for. Cole does the same tackle but it's a straight red? That's some quality decision-making right there.

Sorry but joe cole deserves to get sent off not because of the actual tacke but because of the stupidity of it. our CB in right on our corner flag and has no chance getting the ball.

terrible decision by joe cole. on ya bike
edit: even jamie redknapp agrees its a straight red. reckless challenge with both feet in the air mate.

Re: Liverpool Thread

But it was exactly the same tackle as Wilshere's, but that was only a yellow in your opinion? Nothing like consistancy.

Wasn't Gerrard's tackle two-footed with both in the air as well? He didn't even get booked for that. So for three tackles, all pretty much the same, we've seen no card, a yellow card and a red.

I think the referee was ok sending off Joe Cole. For me, it was clearly a red card. Now let ´s see what we can do. I would happily sign a draw.

If it's a clear red, why wasn't Wilshere's? I can see why it can be a red, but I can't see how you can give one player a totally different decision even though it's the same offense. That's the annoying part.

Gerrard's not allowed to get sent off.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Fair result in the end. Arsenal had the first half, thought we did better in the second half.

Not entirely sure why Reina decided he wanted to grab the ball when running towards his own goal, rather than push the ball away. But nevermind, Reina has been an absoloute hero for us enough times and everyone makes mistakes. Not often Reina so one of those things there, feel a bit sorry for him but he could've prevented that really.

I'm glad the Prem has started again, I've not half missed it :D

Re: Liverpool Thread

He made quite a few brilliant saves, as he's always done. Best keeper in the league IMO, but a mistake he could've prevented for that goal. Can't crucify him in the slightest though, like I've said, everyone makes mistakes now and then.
