Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

he can speak English, and there's no reason really not to have been in touch, unless he's either been kidnapped or lost his phone. But even if he'd lost his phone he'd have a new one straight away and would have to give his new number to LFC management.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Hey guys, I want to ask what's your opinion of Mascherano ?
In my opinion, he is way overrated. I'm from Argentina, Im a fan of River so I ve seen him play since he started playing. He is a good play, no doubt about that, but here in Argentina they talk about him as if he was one of the best CM in the world. I dont agree with that at all, he 's an amazing ballwinner (best in the world probably), but he doesnt contribute at all in the offensive aspect. Do you think it would be a huge lost if we sell him ? I think we should sell him, there is only 2 years left in his contract and, although he has said that he wants to renew his contract, his agent is always talking about how he wants to leave.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Depends who you replace him with, He is limited but gives good bite and considering your trying to convert a 26 year old Attacking midfielder to deep a midfielder his attributes are vital.

that's his job. He's a defensive holding midfielder, and one of the best in the world at that job. Not all players have to be bombing into the box for 90 minutes to be a top player, he performs his role brilliantly. Seems to have a shit attitude off the pitch though.

Re: Liverpool Thread

You definitely need him to give the likes of Aquilani more freedom in attack.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I dont think hes world class, nearly there but not for me.

He goes wandering and gets out of position, last season Macha was key in quite a few of the goals conceded against us. If he had kept his positional discipline they would have been prevented.

Although if we lost him he would be a big loss, he does give us protection at the back. But I think him leaving is inevitable due to his offfield attitude as UJSupernova said

Re: Liverpool Thread

You have a few problems such as Gerrard and Aquilani both being best used in the same position and then CM wise you have Mascherano (will leave) and no other quality other than a young Lucas who I hear could be sold also :SS

Re: Liverpool Thread

Dalla Valle starts! Looking forward to seeing him play.

Edit: Or not, match might be getting called off.

Austria, torrential rain and lightning but KO expected at 6:45pm now.

That pitch WILL give injuries out, probably to Aquilani and Degen as well.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Very stupid move to sell him, lots of potential.

He wont be the first player to be sold stupidly this summer either.

Re: Liverpool Thread

whatever you lots do don`t sell torres ...Joe cole looks like he`s coming your way . Now, that you freed up wages :))

Re: Liverpool Thread

He is going to be a quality left back in a few seasons, no doubt about that. The lad made, only at 21, a good season in the toughest league in the world. He is going to develope his full potential in Fiorentina with of Vargas (if he stays) to tutor him.

Yeah, I've heard betting has been stopped on Cole joining us. We'll see. Would be a superb signing.

Couldn't we have got Vargas as part of the Insua deal? :(

But hey, at least we've got Degen!

Re: Liverpool Thread

Considering they did the same with Henry and Ribery joining us a few seasons I wouldnt get too excited. It would be a superb signing thought, but I still dont understand how we sold our only LB. We should have sold Babel and/or Riera.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Cole isn`t going to utd, city, arsenal they have 200 midfielder lol spurs doesn`t have the money .Pool needs a midfielder he`s abit injured prone pool loves those odds tbh.

Don't worry, they'll be sold as well.

The deal was started up before Hodgson arrived. Hodgson said he liked Insua as a person and a player, but couldn't get Purslow to stop the deal? I'm absoloutely sure now that Hodgson was going to Torres asking him to stay, then Purslow was there pretty much telling Torres he's being sold regardless of what Hodgson said.

Fucking Purslow is as bad as the owners!

The son of the bitches are Hicks and Gillet. Purslow is just doing his job.

G&H aren't in charge anymore, it's Broughton and Purslow. With Purslow in charge of transfers, it's entirely on him with these deals going through.

Why isn't Roy using some authority? Maybe we do have a "Yes Man" in charge :CENSOR:

Are you sure ? I think he's just there to make sure that Hicks and Gillet pay the money the owe to the banks (or we owe thanks to those two bastards).

No, they were forced to step aside and Broughton has become the chairman now. Although they still own the club, RBS told them they need to give up being chairmen.

Re: Liverpool Thread

What I don't get is why he would sell off all the players?

If they're trying to find buyers getting rid of them all is hardly going to make the club an attractive proposition is it?! The players must have asked to leave too surely?

You really think they're interested in selling the club as much as asset-stripping?

They're getting out who they can, pocketing as much from player sales as they can before the club goes.

New owners will come in, with the promise of having to pay for building a new stadium and clear the debt, and will say they don't have any money to give the manager due to all of this.

I'm resigned to expecting us to being a mid-table club from now on. Maybe we'll see some of the younger lads play more games though (assuming they're not free'd off or sold like some have already).

I'm waiting to see what LB(s) we bring in now. Because Roy's said no players will be leaving unless replacements are lined up already. And I'm hearing that Stoke have outbid us on Figueroa so not sure he's arriving.

I bet it's bloody Konchesky.

Oh, and Insua would class as homegrown as well.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Yeah I know what you're saying but the ones who look the most like leaving, Torres, Mascherano and Gerrard have all been far from positive about staying and Benayoun clearly wanted to leave and by his own words was told to find a new club by Rafa. This Insua deal seems to have been in the pipeline for quite a while, maybe he wanted out too?

Kuyt came out and said he wants to stay and I can't see them selling him.
I dunno, you might be right, but it could be that these players all wanted to leave and the 'management' aren't prepared to stand in their way.

Re: Liverpool Thread

You could also be right, but it's worrying that Hodgson wants players to stay but if the players show the slightest hint of going then they're not going to show any kind of enthusiasm for them to stay.

Like you say, I imagine the "management" are hoping players want to leave.

Broughton said at the Hodgson press conference that ALL money from player sales will go to Roy to bring players in, so that's £5m for Roy to spend on top of any budget we had already (assuming we had one). Also not sure if Benayoun's money is available but I've heard that money was already sanctioned to pay off Rafa.

Lucas has said he wants to stay, but I can see him being sold actually. If Palermo raise their offer, I reckon he'll be forced to go really.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I saw that Palermo's president said that the figure quoted in the press was less than they actually offered but who knows, these guys spew so much bullshit you never know when they're telling the truth and when they're bluffing.

Hodgson said that when he spoke to Torres and Gerrard he told them they weren't for sale but I can't see them being sold anyway as I don't think any club would match Liverpool's valuation.

Hodgson said that whe

Yeah, they were rumoured to have offered £5m but it was actually £3m I believe.

I've grown to become a fan of Lucas as his Liverpool career has gone on, I wouldn't sell for less than £8m myself.

Hodgson has also confirmed it's Purslow who's responsible for transfers and no point asking him about them.
