Seems like a great situation for Liverpool.
Don't have to pay Rafa his compensation, He gets to say "I left for another top job" and Liverpool get someone else in.
Hopefully Nothing happens and we have KRAP FOR LIFE!

Aquilani was inmense in Kuyt goal. He read the play and asked the ball to Insua (excellent pass by the way) and the pass off Alberto to Kuyt really good. Aquilani wasnt having a good match, lot of misplaced passes but he is like this, he can change the match in one play.

Much better performance overall, still need to work on some things. Ngog was pretty poor today and I hoped Babel would've been brought on sooner. Aquilani played some quality touches but also misplaced quite a bit. Incidently, how does Aquilani not get to play against some teams because they're too physical .... but he gets picked against Bolton of all teams?!

Kyrgiakos is showing that bit of steel, nous and resilience that is sometimes missing in Agger and Skrtel's play. More experience basically. Aquilani was hot and cold - but showing progress. Ngog - he needs to be less nice because he has everything else. Just sometimes he is afraid to get in where it hurts at the business end.

Can't say I'm excited by it tbh, a 28 y.o. playing in Belgium?! Voronin 2.0 is the expectation for me. Especially when it said he can play as a leftsided attacker and AM aswell as a striker. So a Kuyt/Voronin combo.

I see him every week here in Belgium.
He's certainly not better than Benayoun and Riera.
He deserves better than Belgium football, but IMO he will not have any added value for Liverpool. BUT, i had my doubts about Vermaelen and Fellaini too...so perhaps i'm not the best placed to judge players' potential.

tiktiktik...the fact that he's coming from a Belgium does not want to say automatically that he cannot be a good player...
His age: he's had some severe injuries in the past...(which is maybe another problem for Liverpool).
Liverpool bought the wrong Standard player, they should buy Defour or (even better) Mbokani. Mbokani would be the ideal partner for Torres upfront. He's a very big talent (but he's a bit loco).

@ Gerd, yeah didn't mean it that nothing good comes out of belgium, but a 28 y.o. isn't going to improve and if he is now a competant player in Belgium it's highly unlikely he will offer much in the prem. WOuld rather have the younger players like Defour, they can grow and improve. Same as Fellani.
Tbh I'm a bit irritated by this signing. Will he really offer anything more then the youth players?! It has no future worth playing him as he is in his peak atm anyway so you might get 2 decent seasons out of him, meaning 10 to 20 matches while all the youth strikers get more and more frustrated. You can see how much Ngog is improving by playing regulary at the highest level, a couple more years and he could be one of the main strikers at the club.

Gerrard is not the same player who can produce goals
from his AMF position just behind Torres...
If he stays no decent striker will ever want to play 2nd

Thing is we've got a similar problem with Berba (obviously some will say he hasn't performed anyway) that he won't play the big games as its a necessity to go with 4-3-3 know and Rooney is undroppable. the chances of teams having 2 world class forwards or at least very good ones is not likely unless ones agile and good enough to play the flanks.
